Worldly attitude.... only love redeems....

The worldly attitude harbours the greatest danger for the soul, for it is held back from spiritual striving, it is demanded to take the body into consideration.... thus the will, the thinking and feeling of man is only directed towards creating all comforts for the body. And consequently the soul is prevented from willing the spirit within it, the spiritual is therefore disregarded and the soul either stops in its higher development or it regresses if the physical desire predominates and the human being turns more and more towards the world. For the spiritual realm will never be compatible with the earthly realm.... Worldly fulfilment will never bring salvation to the soul, man can never walk above and below at the same time, he will always have to do one at the expense of the other. And people do not consider this.... All their endeavours are directed towards the comfort of the body, and the soul must live in want as soon as the body's desire is fulfilled. But in what error do people walk when they believe that they fulfil their duties to God by following external ceremonies.... What God demands of people is a living faith in Himself and His word, which must also result in acting in accordance with the word of God. This word teaches the transience of everything earthly, and it gives knowledge of the meaning and purpose of life on earth and of the state of the soul after bodily death.... According to the word of God, life on earth must now be lived in order to shape the state of the soul after death into one full of light. And therefore everything that is earthly, i.e. transient, must be disregarded and only the imperishable soul must be considered as long as the human being remains on earth. However, the soul cannot develop progressively as long as it is prevented by physical desire from uniting with the spirit within itself. And the latter can only happen through working in love.... The neighbour must be considered more than one's own body, the human being must put aside his own "I" and be absorbed in loving his fellow human beings.... However, he who thinks only of himself is still so earthbound that it is difficult for him to detach himself from the earth.... Selfish love is the greatest obstacle to ascent, for selfish love is the opposite of neighbourly love, and only neighbourly love is truly redeeming, only neighbourly love signifies spiritual progress for the soul, and only neighbourly love shapes the human being in accordance with God's will. But every action that lacks neighbourly love is a purely formal act, something external that has no inner value and does not contribute in the slightest to the soul's transformation. Only love redeems, and if a person does not practice love, his soul will be lost for eternity....

Predisposizione mondana – Soltanto l’amore salva

La predisposizione mondana porta in sé il più grande pericolo per l’anima, perché questa viene trattenuta dal tendere spirituale, da lei viene preteso la considerazione del corpo, quindi la volontà, il pensare ed il sentire dell’uomo è soltanto orientato a creare al corpo tutti i piaceri. E di conseguenza l’anima viene ostacolata nella funzione di assecondare la volontà dello spirito in lei, perciò lo spirituale rimane inosservato e l’anima rimane ferma nel suo sviluppo verso l’Alto, oppure si forma in retrocessione, quando la richiesta corporea prende il sopravvento e l’uomo si rivolge sempre di più al mondo. Perché il Regno spirituale non sarà mai conciliabile con il regno terreno. L’adempimento mondano non sarà per il bene dell’anima, l’uomo non può camminare contemporaneamente in alto ed in basso, dovrà sempre fare una cosa a spese dell’altra ed a questo gli uomini non ci pensano. Tutto il loro tendere è per il benessere del corpo e l’anima deve languire, quando il desiderio del corpo viene esaudito. In quale errore però camminano gli uomini, quando credono di esaudire i loro doveri verso Dio, quando eseguono delle cerimonie esteriori. Quello che Dio chiede agli uomini, è la fede viva in Sé e la Sua Parola, che però deve avere per conseguenza anche l’agire secondo la Parola di Dio. Questa Parola insegna la caducità di tutto il terreno e fornisce la conoscenza del senso e dello scopo della vita terrena e dello stato dell’anima dopo la morte corporea. Perciò ora si deve vivere la vita terrena secondo la Parola di Dio, per formare lo stato dell’anima luminoso dopo la morte quindi, tutto ciò che è terreno, cioè caduco, deve rimanere inosservato e si deve pensare soltanto all’anima imperitura, finché l’uomo rimane sulla Terra. Ma l’anima non può svilupparsi con progresso, cioè unirsi con lo spirito in lei finché è ostacolata da desideri corporei. E l’unione può avvenire soltanto tramite l’agire nell’amore. Si deve pensare di più al prossimo che al proprio corpo, l’uomo deve mettere in fondo il suo proprio “io” e sorgere nell’agire d’amore ai suoi prossimi. Chi però pensa soltanto a sé stesso, è ancora così legato alla Terra che gli è difficile staccarsi dalla Terra. L’amore dell’io è il più grande impedimento verso l’Alto, perché l’amore dell’io è il contrario dell’amore per il prossimo, e soltanto l’amore per il prossimo è salvifico, soltanto l’amore per il prossimo significa progresso spirituale per l’anima, e soltanto l’amore per il prossimo forma l’uomo secondo la Volontà di Dio. Ma ogni azione che è priva dell’amore per il prossimo, è un’azione puramente formale, qualcosa di esteriore che non ha nessun valore interiore e non contribuisce in nessun modo alla trasformazione dell’anima. Soltanto l’amore salva e se l’uomo non si esercita nell’amore, la sua anima va perduta per l’Eternità.
