Worldly attitude.... only love redeems....

The worldly attitude harbours the greatest danger for the soul, for it is held back from spiritual striving, it is demanded to take the body into consideration.... thus the will, the thinking and feeling of man is only directed towards creating all comforts for the body. And consequently the soul is prevented from willing the spirit within it, the spiritual is therefore disregarded and the soul either stops in its higher development or it regresses if the physical desire predominates and the human being turns more and more towards the world. For the spiritual realm will never be compatible with the earthly realm.... Worldly fulfilment will never bring salvation to the soul, man can never walk above and below at the same time, he will always have to do one at the expense of the other. And people do not consider this.... All their endeavours are directed towards the comfort of the body, and the soul must live in want as soon as the body's desire is fulfilled. But in what error do people walk when they believe that they fulfil their duties to God by following external ceremonies.... What God demands of people is a living faith in Himself and His word, which must also result in acting in accordance with the word of God. This word teaches the transience of everything earthly, and it gives knowledge of the meaning and purpose of life on earth and of the state of the soul after bodily death.... According to the word of God, life on earth must now be lived in order to shape the state of the soul after death into one full of light. And therefore everything that is earthly, i.e. transient, must be disregarded and only the imperishable soul must be considered as long as the human being remains on earth. However, the soul cannot develop progressively as long as it is prevented by physical desire from uniting with the spirit within itself. And the latter can only happen through working in love.... The neighbour must be considered more than one's own body, the human being must put aside his own "I" and be absorbed in loving his fellow human beings.... However, he who thinks only of himself is still so earthbound that it is difficult for him to detach himself from the earth.... Selfish love is the greatest obstacle to ascent, for selfish love is the opposite of neighbourly love, and only neighbourly love is truly redeeming, only neighbourly love signifies spiritual progress for the soul, and only neighbourly love shapes the human being in accordance with God's will. But every action that lacks neighbourly love is a purely formal act, something external that has no inner value and does not contribute in the slightest to the soul's transformation. Only love redeems, and if a person does not practice love, his soul will be lost for eternity....

Weltliche Einstellung.... Nur die Liebe erlöst....

Die weltliche Einstellung trägt die größte Gefahr für die Seele in sich, denn es wird diese vom geistigen Streben zurückgehalten, es wird von ihr Berücksichtigung des Körpers gefordert.... also der Wille, das Denken und Fühlen des Menschen ist nur darauf gerichtet, dem Körper alle Annehmlichkeiten zu schaffen. Und folglich wird die Seele gehindert, dem Geist in ihr zu Willen zu sein, das Geistige wird daher unbeachtet gelassen, und die Seele bleibt entweder in ihrer Höherentwicklung stehen, oder sie gestaltet sich rückschrittlich, wenn das körperliche Verlangen überwiegt und sich der Mensch immer mehr der Welt zuwendet. Denn das geistige Reich wird niemals zu vereinbaren sein mit dem irdischen Reich.... Es wird niemals weltliche Erfüllung der Seele zum Heil gereichen, es kann niemals der Mensch oben und unten zugleich wandeln, immer wird er das eine auf Kosten des anderen tun müssen. Und dies bedenken die Menschen nicht.... Ihr ganzes Streben gilt dem Wohlbehagen des Körpers, und die Seele muß darben, sowie das Verlangen des Körpers erfüllt wird. In welchem Irrtum aber wandeln die Menschen, wenn sie glauben, die Pflichten Gott gegenüber zu erfüllen, wenn sie äußeren Zeremonien nachkommen.... Was Gott von den Menschen fordert, ist lebendiger Glaube an Sich und Sein Wort, der aber auch das Handeln nach dem Wort Gottes zur Folge haben muß. Dieses Wort lehrt die Vergänglichkeit alles Irdischen, und es gibt Kenntnis vom Sinn und Zweck des Erdenlebens und von dem Zustand der Seele nach dem leiblichen Tode.... Dem Wort Gottes gemäß muß nun das Erdenleben gelebt werden, um den Zustand der Seele nach dem Tode zu einem lichtvollen zu gestalten. Und also muß alles, was irdisch, d.h. vergänglich, ist, unbeachtet bleiben und nur die unvergängliche Seele bedacht werden, solange der Mensch auf Erden weilt. Die Seele kann sich aber nicht fortschrittlich entwickeln, solange sie durch körperliches Verlangen gehindert ist, sich mit dem Geist in sich zu einen. Und letzteres kann nur geschehen durch Wirken in Liebe.... Es muß der Nächste mehr bedacht werden als der eigene Körper, es muß der Mensch sein eigenes "Ich" zurückstellen und aufgehen im Liebeswirken an seinen Mitmenschen.... Wer jedoch nur an sich denkt, der ist noch so erdgebunden, daß es ihm schwerfällt, sich von der Erde zu lösen.... Die Ichliebe ist das größte Hindernis zur Höhe, denn die Ichliebe ist das Gegenteil der Nächstenliebe, und nur die Nächstenliebe ist wahrhaft erlösend, nur die Nächstenliebe bedeutet für die Seele geistigen Fortschritt, und nur die Nächstenliebe formt den Menschen nach dem Willen Gottes. Jede Handlung aber, die der Nächstenliebe entbehrt, ist eine rein formelle Handlung, etwas Äußerliches, das keinen inneren Wert hat und nicht im geringsten zur Umgestaltung der Seele beiträgt. Nur die Liebe erlöst, und so sich der Mensch nicht in der Liebe übet, geht seine Seele für die Ewigkeit verloren....
