Love activity spiritual progress....

Everything that can be described as a labour of love is conducive to the soul's higher development, thus every labour of love is spiritual progress. But then also every overcoming of earthly desires as well as the resistance against all evil is to be seen as such, for the latter means a weakening of the opposing power and an increase of one's own strength. Man must inevitably reach the heights if he only longs upwards, towards God, and wants to escape the depths by believing in Jesus Christ, the divine saviour and conqueror of death. For anyone who asks God for strength in faith in Him will also receive it, and every influx of strength from God has to increase the soul's state of maturity and signify the being's spiritual advancement. And again only the strength of will is decisive as to whether the path upwards has to be travelled with great struggle or without a fight. For when the will is still weak the adversary also struggles to turn the will towards himself again and then it requires inner struggle to become master of the adversary. A strong will, i.e., a will which is unconditionally turned towards God, is not a field of attack for the adversary and therefore the spiritual resistance will not be so great. Yet the human being can easily overcome all opposition if he is active in love, for then God Himself will support him. He does a work for his neighbour which reduces his hardship, thus God distributes the same, He also reduces his hardship and helps where the human being is in danger of failing. And therefore the human being who is active in love must inevitably ascend, his state of soul must reach a certain maturity, for he is in love and therefore also in God,.... for God Himself is love....

사랑을 행하는 일이 영적인 성장을 가져오고 한다.

혼의 더 높은 성장에 도움을 주는 일은 사랑을 행하는 일이라고 할 수 있는 모든 일이다. 그러므로 모든 사랑을 행하는 일은 영적인 성장을 의미한다. 그러나 그러면 또한 모든 사랑을 행하는 일은 모든 악에 대한 저항하는 것이고, 이 땅의 모든 욕망을 극복하는 일이라고 할 수 있다. 왜냐하면 이 땅의 욕망을 극복하는 일은 대적자의 세력을 약화시키는 일을 의마하고, 자신의 힘의 증가를 의미하기 때문이다. 사람이 단지 위를 향하고, 하나님을 갈망하고, 하나님의 구세주이자 죽음의 정복자인 예수 그리스도를 믿는 믿음으로 깊은 곳을 탈출하기를 원한다면, 사람은 거부할 수 없게 높은 곳에 도달해야만 한다.

왜냐하면 하나님을 믿는 믿음으로 하나님께 능력을 구하는 사람에게 또한 힘이 주어질 것이고, 하나님으로부터 받는 모든 힘의 공급은 혼의 성숙한 정도를 증가시켜야만 하고, 존재에게는 영적인 성장을 의미하기 때문이다. 단지 강한 의지만이 다시 높은 곳으로 가는 길을 큰 투쟁을 하면서 가야 하는지 또는 투쟁이 없이 가게 될 지에 결정적이다. 왜냐하면 의지가 여전히 약하면 대적자도 의지를 자기 자신에게 돌리기 위해 투쟁하고, 그러면 대적자를 이기기 위한 내면의 투쟁이 필요하기 때문이다.

강한 의지는, 다시 말해 무조건 하나님을 향한 의지는 저세상의 공격의 대상이 아니다. 그러므로 영적 저항이 아주 크게 되지 않을 것이다. 그러나 사람이 사랑을 행한다면, 그는 모든 장애물을 쉽게 극복할 수 있다. 왜냐하면 그러면 하나님 자신이 그의 곁에 있기 때문이다. 그는 이웃을 위해 이웃의 위험을 줄이는 일을 한다. 그러므로 하나님도 같은 일을 행한다. 하나님은 또한 그의 위험을 줄여주고, 인간이 실패할 위험이 있는 곳에서 돕는다. 그러므로 사랑을 행하는 사람은 필연적으로 높은 곳에 도달해야만 한다. 그의 혼의 상태는 어느 정도 성숙해져야만 한다. 왜냐하면 그가 사랑 안에 거하고, 그로 인해 그가 또한 하나님 안에 있기 때문이다. 왜냐하면 하나님 자신이 사랑이기 때문이다.
