The spiritual world.... paradisiacal state....
The death of the body is the conclusion of life on earth and the beginning of life in eternity. These are two fundamentally different worlds.... The one, which belongs to the past and is also transient in itself, i.e. in constant change, is the world of God's visible and tangible works of creation.... a world that is matter in contrast to the world beyond, where material creations do not exist but are only imagined by imperfect beings until the moment of final overcoming. The body of flesh required earthly, i.e. material, creations, as it itself was also such a creation. However, as soon as the outer shell of flesh falls away and the soul passes over into the spiritual realm, it is completely independent of visible works of creation, provided it has reached a certain degree of maturity. The present world is a world of desires.... Every soul finds what it desires, and thus life in eternity will be a paradisiacal state for the human being, provided that the soul wishes to dwell in paradise. For it can also desire that which is still very humanly earthly. But then the state cannot be called paradisiacal, for earthly desires eliminate such a state. In higher spheres, however, earthly-material things are no longer desired but are regarded as belonging to the past, and instead only spiritual good is sought. Spiritual good, however, are for the first time the currents of power which the being in eternity perceptibly feels and recognizes as necessary for higher development and longs for. In this world nothing is tangible or physically visible, but only visible to the spiritual eye, i.e. everything consists of ethereal substances, it is only recognizable in the life of feeling.... the degree of love of the being will, as it were, determine the spheres which are now the soul's new abode. For when the soul is willing, it also receives, and now receiving and giving is a blissful activity for the being. It does not desire something tangible, but only something delicious, which is expressed in the life of sensation. And thus life in eternity is a constant influx and distribution of divine strength, only spiritual things are desired and received and the emotional life is developed to an unimaginable depth, so that bliss can take on ever greater proportions, thus there is neither a standstill nor a decline in what is the epitome of eternal life.... of eternal glory....

De geestelijke wereld - Paradijselijke staat
De dood van het lichaam is de afsluiting van het aardse bestaan en het begin van het leven in de eeuwigheid. Dit zijn twee totaal verschillende werelden.
De ene die deel uitmaakt van het verleden en ook in zich vergankelijk is, dat wil zeggen aan voortdurende omvorming onderhevig, is de wereld van de zichtbare en tastbare scheppingswerken van God. Een wereld die materie is, in tegenstelling tot de wereld van het hiernamaals, waar materiële scheppingen niet bestaan, maar die alleen nog de onvolmaakte wezens als gedachten voor ogen staan tot aan het moment van definitieve overwinning. Het vleselijke lichaam had aardse, dat wil zeggen materiële scheppingen nodig, daar het zelf eveneens zo’n schepping was. Maar zodra het vleselijke omhulsel wegvalt en de ziel overgaat in het geestelijke rijk, is ze volledig onafhankelijk van zichtbare scheppingswerken, wanneer ze een zekere graad van rijpheid heeft bereikt. De wereld van nu is een wereld van wensen.
Iedere ziel treft dat aan, wat ze begeert. En dus zal het leven in de eeuwigheid voor de mens een paradijselijke staat zijn, vooropgesteld dat de ziel in het paradijs zou willen vertoeven. Want ze kan evenzo dat begeren, wat nog heel menselijk aards is. Maar dan is de toestand niet paradijselijk te noemen, want aardse begeerten schakelen zoiets uit. In hogere sferen echter wordt aards- materieel niets meer begeerd, maar beschouwd als deel uitmakend van het verleden en in plaats hiervan wordt alleen geestelijk goed nagestreefd. Maar geestelijk goed is voor het eerst de krachtstroom die het wezen in de eeuwigheid aanmerkelijk gewaarwordt en als bevorderlijk voor zijn vooruitgang inziet en waar het vurig naar verlangt. In deze wereld is niets tastbaar of stoffelijk zichtbaar, maar alleen voor het geestelijke oog zichtbaar. Dat wil zeggen: alles bestaat uit “geestelijke substanties”. Het is alleen in het gevoelsleven kenbaar. De graad van liefde van het wezen zal in zekere zin de sferen bepalen die de nieuwe verblijfplaats van de ziel nu is. Want als de ziel gewillig is te geven, ontvangt ze ook. En nu is ontvangen en geven voor het wezen een gelukkig makende bezigheid. Het begeert niet iets tastbaars. Integendeel, alleen iets kostelijks, wat in het gevoelsleven tot uitdrukking komt. En dus is het leven in de eeuwigheid een gestadig toestromen en uitdelen van goddelijke kracht. Er wordt alleen geestelijks begeerd en ontvangen en het gevoelsleven wordt tot onvoorstelbare diepte ontwikkeld, zodat de gelukzaligheid steeds grotere omvang kan aannemen. Er doet zich dus noch stilstand, noch achteruitgang voor van datgene, wat wezen van het eeuwige leven is: de eeuwige heerlijkheid.
