Life - activity.... inactivity – lifelessness....

To live means to be continuously active.... The state of inactivity is, as it were, a persistence in lifelessness; it is something will-less, bound; it is a standstill of vigour, and all these are the signs of death. Everything that is alive, i.e. active, brings about something new, in that what is does not remain in the same state but is constantly changing, otherwise it could not be called life.... while what is dead remains unchanged. However, that which appears dead in itself can also harbour an inner life, i.e. it can harbour a power that drives the apparently lifeless to activity.... thus only the outer form can be called lifeless as long as it is not allowed to be active.... while the force, the spiritual in the form, is willing to be active because it no longer likes being inactive. This will of the dead, which desires to live, is like the awakening from the deepest night. And this becomes outwardly noticeable in almost imperceptible changes that now come to light.... Life begins when the previous form is remodelled, i.e. becomes active in itself. The activity of such seemingly lifeless forms is not recognizable to the eye because it initially takes an infinitely long time, so the form is seen as lifeless. However, once the will of the spiritual in this form has been turned towards becoming active, the dead state is also overcome and every second now brings about changes, even if they are minimal. And the life that thus begins is also the beginning redemption of the spiritual from the form. For to be active also means to serve.... it means carrying out something that corresponds to divine will, and divine will has assigned a meaning and purpose to every activity. And if the purpose is fulfilled, this is serving.... consequently, whatever wants to live must be active, i.e. serve. If, however, the will to serve is completely absent, then we can only speak of something dead, for then the beingness in the form still remains in resistance. It cannot decide to serve, is will-less, inactive, thus completely lifeless, although the form harbours spirituality within itself, which is, however, still full of rebellion against the power that has determined it to serve. This beingness is still devoted to God's adversary and he prevents it from serving. Hence God also takes away all power from it to be active because this activity would again only apply to God's adversary. And the beingness will not be released from its lifeless state until it has expressed its will to be of service itself. Only then will the external form be loosened, that is, it can change within itself, and it is possible that it will completely reshape itself after an inconceivably long time and that this will also happen visibly to people, so that life is now also recognizable externally.... thus the form can no longer be called lifeless since it now testifies to constant activity, thus to life....

생명과 활동. 활동하지 않은 것은 생명이 없는 것이다.

생명은 계속 활동하는 것을 의미한다. 활동하지 않는 상태는 동시에 생명이 없는 상태이다. 그에게 의지가 없고, 그는 묶여 있는 것이다. 그의 추진력은 정지되어 있고, 이 모든 것은 죽음의 징조이다. 살아있는 모든 것은, 즉 활동적인 것들은 같은 상태에 머물지 않고, 자신이 끊임없이 변화하면서 새로운 것을 만들어 낸다. 그렇지 않으면 생명이라고 할 수 없다. 죽은 사람은 변화가 없다. 그러나 그 자체가 단지 죽은 것처럼 보이는 것이 내면에 생명을 가지고 있을 수 있다. 다시 말해 겉으로 보기에 생명이 없는 사람을 활동에 몰아넣는 내재된 힘이 있을 수 있다. 따라서 겉형체가 활동하는 일이 허용되지 않는 한, 단지 겉형체만 생명이 없다고 할 수 있다. 반면에 형체 안의 영적인 존재에게 활동하지 않는 상태가 더 이상 행복하지 않기 때문에 영적인 존재 안의 힘이 자원하여 활동하려고 할 수 있다.

살기를 갈망하는 죽은 자의 의지는 깊은 밤에서 깨어나는 것과 같다. 이제 일어나는 이런 일이 거의 눈에 띄지 않는 변화로써 겉으로 드러난다. 이전에 가졌던 형체를 변화시키면서, 다시 말해 자기 자신에게 행동을 취하면서 생명이 시작된다. 이런 생명이 없는 것처럼 보이는 형체의 활동은 눈으로 깨달을 수 없다. 왜냐하면 이런 활동은 초기에는 무한히 오랜 시간이 걸리고, 그러므로 형체에 생명이 없는 것으로 간주되기 때문이다.

그러나 이런 형체 안의 영적인 존재의 의지가 활동하기 시작하면, 또한 죽음의 상태는 극복이 되고, 이제는 매초마다 가장 작은 변화일지라도 변화를 일으킨다. 그러므로 이렇게 시작되는 생명은 또한 형체로부터의 영적인 구원의 시작이다. 왜냐하면 활동하는 일은 또한 섬김을 의미하기 때문이다. 다시 말해 하나님의 뜻에 부합하는 어떤 일을 하는 것을 의미한다. 하나님의 뜻이 모든 활동에 의미와 목적을 부여했다. 이런 목적을 성취시키면, 이는 섬기는 것이다. 결과적으로 살기를 원하는 것은 활동해야만 한다. 다시 말해 섬겨야만 한다.

그러나 섬기려는 의지가 전혀 없으면, 단지 죽은 것이라고 할 수 있다. 왜냐하면 그러면 형체 안의 존재가 아직 저항을 하기 때문이다. 존재는 섬기려는 결심을 할 수 없고, 의지가 없고, 활동하지 않는다. 그러므로 비록 형체 안에 영적인 존재가 있지만, 그러나 존재가 섬기도록 사명을 준 권세에 아직 전적으로 반발하고 있다. 존재는 아직 하나님의 대적자에게 순복하고 있고, 대적자는 섬기는 일을 막는다. 그러므로 하나님은 또한 활동하기 위한 모든 힘을 존재에게서 빼앗는다. 왜냐하면 그런 활동은 단지 다시 하나님의 대적자를 위한 활동이 될 것이기 때문이다.

존재가 스스로 섬기는 일에 적극적으로 참여하겠다는 의지를 표명하기 전까지는, 존재는 생명이 없는 상태에서 해방되지 못하고, 섬기는 일을 하면, 비로소 겉형체가 부드러워진다. 다시 말해 형체 자체가 변할 수 있고, 상상할 수 없을 정도로 오랜 시간이 지나면, 완전히 변형될 가능성이 있다. 이런 일은 이제 사람들에게도 눈에 띄게 일어나고, 이로써 이제 외적인 생명을 깨달을 수 있고, 형체에 더 이상 생명이 없다고 할 수 없게 된다. 왜냐하면 형체가 이제 지속적인 활동을 증명하기 때문이다. 다시 말해 생명이 있음을 증명하기 때문이다.
