Speaking gift and right application....

God has often denied the human being the gift of speech in order to make him small and humble, for an exceptionally well-developed gift of speech will usually also make the human being arrogant. It is also a work of the adversary that he often makes the eloquent person submissive to his will and then uses him as a representative of everything that is directed against God. For a good speaker will find considerably more followers than a person who lacks the words to make his opinion known. The man who lacks words, on the other hand, will usually think more deeply, and thus the pure truth will also be more easily recognized by him, while the eloquent man speaks more superficially about everything that moves him and, since he likes to hear himself speak, uses his eloquence to talk ramblingly about trivial matters, so that his speeches are of no particular value. A certain self-love is often to be found in such people, and therefore they will never accept other people's opinions, but will only be satisfied if their opinion is recognized. And that is why they talk incessantly, to please themselves, but without conveying anything of value to their fellow human beings. If they wanted to use their gift of oratory by speaking for the lord, spreading the teachings of Christ and helping erring souls onto the right path, then they would use God's gift properly and it would only bring blessings for humanity and for the speaker himself. But precisely such people want to hear little of this and are more willing to speak against what is God's will, for where self-love is represented there is a lack of realization of the truth and they are therefore of little faith, which is why they cannot represent with conviction what they themselves do not understand and therefore do not believe. And therefore God has to awaken people and give them the gift of speech so that they should stand up for Him and His name and confess God's activity in the world. And these will speak according to His will, they will fight with the sword of their mouth, and their gift of speech will convince people because arrogance no longer speaks from those proclaiming the divine will but their wisdom was received in deepest humility of heart. And so the value of the spoken word can be recognized by whether humility or arrogance speaks from the speaker, and the effect on fellow human beings will be accordingly. The blind and ignorant will accept the speech of the arrogant, but those who see, to whom the light of the spirit already shines, will recognize divine truth if it is offered to them by speakers who want to serve God. If a person wants to pass on the word of God to his fellow human beings he will be able to speak as if with the tongues of angels, the words will be put into his mouth, as it were, and he will be able to speak like the greatest speakers and represent what he speaks to people with full persuasiveness. And thus the gift of speech can serve to reproduce the adversary's whisperings, but it can also be a divine gift of grace in order to represent divine wisdom. And the characteristic of both speakers will be love for one's neighbour or self-love....

말하는 재능과 올바른 사용.

하나님은 자주 사람을 작고 겸손하게 만들기 위해 말하는 은사를 사람에게 주지 않았다. 왜냐하면 예외적으로 잘 발달된 말하는 은사는 보통 사람들을 오만하게 만들 것이기 때문이다. 대적자가 웅변적인 사람들을 자신의 뜻에 복종하게 만들고, 대적자가 이제 그를 하나님께 대항하는 모든 일의 대표자로 사용하는 일은 또한 대적자의 역사이다. 왜냐하면 좋은 연사는 자신의 관점을 표현하는 일에 부족한 사람보다 훨씬 더 많은 지지자를 얻을 수 있기 때문이다.

반면에 말이 없는 사람은 일반적으로 생각이 더 깊고, 그러므로 그는 또한 순수한 진리를 더 쉽게 깨달을 것이다. 반면에 웅변적인 사람은 자신을 움직이는 모든 것을 더 많이 피상적으로 말한다. 그가 자신이 말하는 것을 듣기를 좋아하고, 그의 말을 잘하는 은사로 폭넓게 부차적인 것을 말하는 데 사용한다. 그러므로 그의 연설에 특별한 가치를 부여할 수 없다.

그런 사람들에게는 자주 어떤 자기 사랑이 있다. 그러므로 그들은 또한 절대로 이웃 사람들의 의견을 인정하지 않을 것이고, 단지 그들의 의견이 받아들여질 때, 만족하게 될 것이다. 그러므로 그들은 자신을 기쁘게 하기 위해 끊임없이 말하지만, 그러나 이를 통해 이웃 사람에게 어떤 가치 있는 것은 전달하지 못한다. 그들이 말하는 재능을 사용하여 주님을 위해 말하고, 그리스도의 가르침을 전파하고, 잘못한 혼을 올바른 길을 가도록 돕는다면, 그들은 하나님의 은사를 올바르게 사용한 것이고, 그런 일은 인류에게 그리고 말하는 사람 자신에게 단지 축복을 줄 것이다.

그러나 사람들이 그런 말을 많이 듣고 싶어하지 않는다. 그들은 하나님의 뜻에 반하는 말을 할 준비가 더 잘 되어 있다. 왜냐하면 자기 사랑이 나타나는 곳에서는 진리에 대한 깨달음이 없기 때문이다. 따라서 그들 자신이 이해하지 못하기 때문에 믿을 수 없다. 그러므로 하나님은 사람들을 깨워, 말하는 은사를 줘야만 한다. 이로써 그들이 하나님과 하나님의 이름을 위해 나서고, 세상에 하나님의 역사를 고백하게 해야만 한다.

그들은 하나님의 뜻에 따라 말하고, 입술의 검으로 싸울 것이다. 그들의 말하는 능력에 사람들이 확신을 갖게 할 것이다. 왜냐하면 더 이상 하나님의 뜻을 선포하는 사람이 교만에서 말하는 것이 아니라, 심장 안의 가장 깊은 겸손으로 받았기 때문이다. 그러므로 말하는 사람이 겸손으로 말하는 지, 교만으로 말하는 지에 따라 말한 것의 가치를 깨달을 수 있고, 또한 그에 따라 이웃 사람에게 영향을 미치게 될 것이다.

눈이 멀고 무지한 사람은 거만한 말을 받아드릴 것이다. 그러나 영의 빛이 이미 빛나는, 갈망하는 사람들은 그들에게 하나님을 섬기려는 연사들을 통해 하나님의 진리가 제공된다면, 그들은 하나님의 진리를 깨닫게 될 것이다. 사람이 하나님의 말씀을 이웃 사람에게 전하기를 원한다면, 그는 마치 천사의 입술로 말하는 것처럼 말을 할 수 있게 될 것이고, 그가 사람들에게 말하는 것을 그는 전적인 확신을 가지고 대변할 수 있게 될 것이다. 그러므로 말하는 은사는 대적자의 속삭임에 대항하는 일에 도움이 될 수 있지만, 그러나 또한 하나님의 지혜를 대변하기 위한 하나님의 은혜의 선물이 될 수 있다. 두 연설자의 특징은 이웃을 향한 사랑이거나 또는 자기 사랑이다.
