Positive and negative forces....

Under the influence of positive forces the development of all beingness has to be an upward striving one, because inflowing power has to lead that what is to perfection. And so the course of development of the being is always guaranteed as long as spiritually mature powers take care of it, while all immature spiritual influences the course of development in a negative way, because then the beingness separates itself from the source of power and becomes weaker in itself, therefore declines. For now a separation takes place in that the spiritual substance joins again with that which had already been its abode before, with matter, which is the most secure means of the spiritually immature beings.... And this connection must inevitably mean separation from the spiritual world, for both cannot exist at the same time. One must always be realized at the expense of the other. Thus, if good spiritual strength is denied access there is also no possibility to ascend, for then opposing forces immediately take possession of the being and pull it down into their realm.... just as, conversely, the being ascends incredibly quickly if no power is granted to those forces, whereas good spiritual strength is desired and therefore also received. Every good thought, every deed of love, every pious prayer and the will directed towards God are requirements of good spiritual strength, thus they already cause the effect of this and thus inevitably already result in the higher development of the being. The desire for earthly good, earthly pleasures, self-interest or unkindness, on the other hand, are unmistakably the work of evil forces; they can never lead upwards, but certainly into the abyss, because they have no constructive but a destructive influence on all beings and can therefore only mean decline for this spiritual being. And so it follows that everything good increases the spiritual in itself, but everything bad has a destructive effect. It also follows that every spiritual endeavour must be successful because the good spiritual is attracted by it, so to speak, and an increase of that which is spiritual substance in itself must take place. For the good strives towards each other, just as the bad seeks to unite, but both paths will be completely opposite, thus must lead to the highest height or the deepest depth, depending on whether the good or the bad forces are allowed access....

Positive und negative Kräfte....

Unter der Einwirkung positiver Kräfte muß der Werdegang alles Wesenhaften ein aufwärtsstrebender sein, denn zuströmende Kraft muß das, was ist, der Vollkommenheit zuführen. Und so ist der Entwicklungsgang des Wesens immer gewährleistet, sofern sich geistige reife Kräfte seiner annehmen, während alles unreife Geistige den Entwicklungsgang in negativer Weise beeinflußt, weil dann das Wesenhafte sich absondert von dem Kraftquell und in sich schwächer wird, also zurückgeht. Denn nun findet eine Trennung statt, indem sich die geistige Substanz wieder mit dem verbindet, was zuvor schon ihr Aufenthalt gewesen ist, mit der Materie, die das sicherste Mittel der geistig unreifen Wesen ist.... Und diese Verbindung muß unweigerlich das Trennen von der geistigen Welt bedeuten, denn beides zugleich kann nicht sein. Immer muß die eine auf Kosten der anderen durchgeführt werden. Wenn nun also guter geistiger Kraft der Zutritt verwehrt wird, so ist auch keine Möglichkeit, zur Höhe zu gelangen, denn dann nehmen gegnerische Kräfte sogleich das Wesen in Besitz und ziehen es hinab in ihr Bereich.... wie umgekehrt das Wesen unglaublich schnell zur Höhe gelangt, wenn jenen Kräften keine Macht eingeräumt wird, dagegen gute geistige Kraft begehrt und also auch empfangen wird. Jeder gute Gedanke, jede Tat der Liebe, jedes fromme Gebet und der zu Gott gerichtete Wille sind Anforderungen der guten geistigen Kraft, bedingen also auch schon die Auswirkung dieser und ziehen so unweigerlich schon die Höherentwicklung des Wesens nach sich. Das Begehren irdischen Gutes, irdischer Freuden, Eigennutz oder Lieblosigkeit dagegen sind unverkennbar das Wirken schlechter Kräfte; es kann niemals zur Höhe, wohl aber in den Abgrund führen, weil sie keinen aufbauenden, sondern einen zerstörenden Einfluß haben auf alles Wesenhafte und somit für dieses Geistige nur Rückgang bedeuten können. Und so geht daraus hervor, daß alles Gute das Geistige in sich selbst vermehrt, alles Schlechte aber zerstörend wirkt. Es geht ferner daraus hervor, daß jedes geistige Streben von Erfolg sein muß, weil das gute Geistige gleichsam dadurch angezogen wird und nun eben auch eine Vermehrung dessen vor sich gehen muß, was in sich geistige Substanz ist. Denn es strebt das Gute zueinander, wie auch das Schlechte sich zu verbinden sucht, doch beider Wege werden gänzlich gegensätzlich sein, also zur höchsten Höhe oder (zu = d. Hg.) der tiefsten Tiefe führen müssen, je nachdem den guten oder den schlechten Kräften der Zugang gestattet wird....
