Work of the Spirit.... power from God....

Only in this way can the work of the spirit be understood, that man imagines a power that is active in him. He must make a distinction between the way the spirit works and the way the soul works. The soul is the breath of life, and every body will live if the soul dwells in it. However, it can lead a life with this soul which could be called mechanical, as it were.... that the body certainly carries out all functions which are necessary for life on earth, which it therefore could not do without the soul.... Yet it does so without any connection with God.... It only uses the ability to live received from God, yet not for God but exclusively for itself and for God's opposing power.... He has previously consciously requested his earthly life from God for the purpose of approaching Him but has now not fulfilled this purpose, however, he has fully utilized the soul's activity. He did not request the power from God.... the divine spirit.... which is the only way to approach God. He has ignored the divine spark that was given to him as God's most precious gift.... The spirit of love.... the divine in man was not active, and thus the spiritual spark was not awakened to life, and the power from God could not be transmitted to man. God cannot reveal Himself to man in the spirit.... the connection with God has not been established, so the rapprochement cannot take place.... it is not possible to bridge the separation as long as the spirit from God is not active in the human being. The spirit from God is the power of God.... A person can be alive and yet dead if spiritual rebirth has not taken place.... Contact with God must be sought.... through active love for the neighbour the divine in him must be brought to awakening, and then the spirit out of God will be active in man.... It will influence the soul to subordinate all thinking, doing and willing to this spirit within itself; the soul will no longer take the body's desires into account but will listen solely to the divine spirit within itself; God Himself will now express Himself. The spirit from God is placed into every human being, yet not every person utilizes this most precious thing within himself, and then his life on earth remains a failed one and has not brought the being any progress, for without awakening the spirit from God within himself the unification with the father-spirit cannot take place, which, however, is the only purpose in earthly life....

Werkzaam zijn van de geest – Kracht uit God

Het werkzaam zijn van de geest is alleen zo te begrijpen, dat de mens zich een kracht voorstelt, die in hem werkzaam is. Hij moet een onderscheid maken tussen de aard en de manier van de werkzaamheid van de geest en van de ziel. De ziel is de levensadem en elk lichaam zal leven als de ziel in hem woont. Hij kan echter met deze ziel een leven leiden, dat in zekere zin mechanisch genoemd zou kunnen worden. Dat het lichaam wel alle functies uitvoert, die voor het aardse leven bevorderlijk zijn, wat hij zonder de ziel dus niet zou kunnen.

Maar hij doet dat zonder enige verbinding met God. Hij gebruikt alleen de van God gekregen levensbekwaamheid, maar niet voor God, maar uitsluitend voor zichzelf en voor de aan God tegengestelde macht. Hij heeft eerst God om zijn aardse leven gevraagd met het doel om dichter bij Hem te komen, maar nu vervult hij dit doel niet, maar hij eist de werkzaamheid van de ziel ten volle op.

Hij heeft niet gevraagd om de kracht uit God, de goddelijke geest, die de enige mogelijkheid is om God te naderen. Hij heeft op de goddelijke vonk, die hem eens als kostelijke gave van God ten deel viel, geen acht geslagen. De liefdesgeest, het goddelijke in de mens, was niet werkzaam en dus werd de geestvonk niet tot leven gewekt en kon de kracht uit God niet op de mens overgedragen worden. God kan Zich niet in de geest aan de mens openbaren. De verbinding met God is niet tot stand gebracht, dus de toenadering kan ook niet plaatsvinden. Er is geen mogelijkheid om de scheiding te overbruggen, zolang de geest uit God niet in de mens werkzaam is.

De geest uit God is goddelijke kracht. De mens kan leven en toch dood zijn, als de geestelijke wedergeboorte niet plaatsgevonden heeft. Het contact met God moet gezocht worden. Door werkzame liefde voor de naaste moet het goddelijke in hem tot ontwaken gebracht worden. En vervolgens zal de geest uit God in de mens werkzaam worden. Hij zal de ziel beïnvloeden om al het denken, doen en willen van deze geest aan hem ondergeschikt te maken. De ziel zal geen rekening meer houden met het verlangen van het lichaam, maar enkel en alleen aandachtig naar de goddelijke geest in zich luisteren. Nu zal God Zichzelf uiten.

De geest uit God is in elk mens gelegd, maar niet elk mens gebruikt dit heerlijkste in zich. En dan blijft zijn leven op aarde een mislukt leven en heeft dit leven het wezen geen vooruitgang gebracht, want zonder de geest uit God in zich op te wekken, kan de eenwording met de Vadergeest niet plaatsvinden, wat echter wel het enige doel in het aardse leven is.
