죽은 지식. 영을 깨어나게 하는 일.

생명력 있게 하는 것은 영이다. 너희는 너희의 이성을 형성시키는 많은 말들을 사용할 수 있다. 그럴지라도 말들에 실제적인 생명을 부여하는 너희 안의 영이 깨어나지 못한 동안에는 이는 죽은 말이고 죽은 말로 남을 것이다. 너희의 이성이 너희를 지배하게 허용함을 이해하라.

너희는 모든 것을 이성을 통해 헤아려 보려고 시도한다. 너희는 이전에 너희 안의 영을 깨어나게 하는 가장 중요한 일을 하지 않는다. 영은 모든 너희의 생각과 이성이 하는 일을 올바르게 인도해 이런 영적인 도움이 없이는 이해할 수 없게 남게 되는 것을 너희가 올바른 이해할 수 있게 해줄 것이다.

그러나 영은 신적인 일부분이다. 영은 실제로 너희 안에 잠자고 있다. 그러나 만약에 너희 스스로 신적인 질서 안에 살면, 다시 말해 사랑의 원칙을 너희 자신의 것으로 만들면, 영은 발달이 될 수 있다. 그러므로 올바르고 진리에 합당하게 이성을 활용해서 하는 일은 너희의 내적인 상태에 너희의 사랑에 대한 자세에 달려 있다.

이런 항상 단지 사랑의 삶이 너희에게 올바른 생각을 보장한다는 사실을 단지 사랑의 삶이 너희가 하는 말에 생명력이 있게 만든다는 사실을 너희가 하는 말들은 만약에 이 말이 순전히 세상적인 일에 관한 것이 아니고 영적인 영역을 설명하기 위한 것이라면, 단지 형식이 아니고 중요한 영적인 소유물로 평가받는 다는 것을 너희는 부인할 수 없을 것이다.

왜냐면 한 사람이 영적인 영역을 자신의 말의 내용으로 삼는다면, 그 자신의 영이 깨어 나지 못한 동안에는 그는 사람들에게 많은 것을 줄 수 없을 것이기 때문이다. 왜냐면 모든 그의 말은 빈 말이고 죽은 말이기 때문이다. 왜냐면 영이 그의 말을 비로소 생명력 있게 하기 때문이다.

다른 한편으로 사랑이 있는 곳에서 영적인 지식에 관한 깊은 대화가 이루어질 수 있을 것이다. 왜냐면 사람들은 사랑이 없이는 이런 내용을 대화의 내용으로 선택하지 않기 때문이다. 이런 대화는 단지 세상적 인 것으로 채워져 있기 때문에 생명력이 있는 지식을 이 대화로부터 기대할 수 없기 때문이다. 또는 단지 직업 때문에 영적인 지식에 관한 말을 할 것이다.

그러면 항상 단지 영과 생명이 없는 죽은 말로 남을 것이다. 이런 단계에서 순전히 영적인 단계에 도달하는 것은 어렵다. 그러나 불가능하지는 않다. 세상에 아직 아주 매여 있는 사람은 여러 종류의 운명적인 일을 통해 또는 다른 체험을 통해 자신 안으로 들어갈 수 있게 되고 진지하게 생각해 볼 수 있게 될 수 있다.

그러면 그는 이미 양심의 소리를 자신 안의 영의 소리를 듣고 이제 진지하게 생각할 수 있다. 그의 심장이 전적으로 강퍅하게 되지 않았으면, 그는 사랑을 행하기 시작할 것이다. 그러면 그는 항상 더 깊게 들어 갈 것이다. 그가 전에 이성을 통해 영접했던 지식이 그 안에서 생명력이 있을 것이다.

이렇게 만드는 것을 유일하게 사랑이 이룰 수 있다. 이제 책 중의 책을 심장이 아직 참여하지 않고 단지 이성으로 읽는 동안에는 지식은 단지 죽은 지식으로 남을 것이다. 왜냐면 사랑이 그의 영을 깨어나게 하기 전에는 그는 단지 문자을 읽고 그의 영적인 의미를 이해하지 못하기 때문이다.

이런 선생들은 자신의 이웃들을 가르칠 능력이 없다. 왜냐면 이들은 생명력 있게 말할 수 없기 때문이다. 그들은 단지 배운 지식을 의미와 생명이 없이 전한다. 또 다시 이웃들의 상태가 얼마나 그들이 지식을 이해하게 될지에 결정적이다. 다시 말해 그가 얼마나 하나님의 사랑의 계명에 관심이 있는지에 달려 있다.

그가 사랑의 삶을 통해 자신의 영이 자기 자신을 가르칠 수 있게 하면, 그는 이해할 것이다. 그러면 그에게 아주 이해할 수 없게 말한다 할지라도 그에게 모든 것이 밝고 선명할 것이다. 왜냐면 그는 내면으로부터 인도를 받기 때문이다. 이런 일은 그 안의 사랑이 가능하게 한다.

단지 자기 자신을 준비해 내면으로부터 하나님의 영이 역사할 수 있는 사람들이 가르치는 사역을 맡아야 한다. 그러면 이런 사람들은 하나님의 일꾼으로 일하게 부름을 받을 것이다. 그러나 영이 깨어나지 못한 사람이 스스로 자신을 부른 사람은 주님의 포도원의 일을 할 능력이 없을 것이다.

왜냐면 그는 단지 직업으로 역사하기 때문이다. 비록 그가 자신의 직업 가운데 영적인 의복을 걸치고 있을지라도 그는 세상을 섬기는 자로 남게 된다. 왜냐면 그가 사람들을 실제적인 목표로 인도할 수 없기 때문이다. 왜냐면 그의 설교는 죽은 설교이고 어떤 사람도 생명에 도달하게 도와줄 수 없기 때문이다.

왜냐면 사람들이 내면으로부터 생명의 도달해야만 하기 때문이다. 이렇게 하는 일은 단지 사랑은 삶을 통해 사람 안의 영에 불씨가 영원한 아버지의 영과 연결이 되는 것을 통해 가능하다. 그러면 이 땅에 사는 동안에 혼이 성숙해지는 일이 가능할 것이다.

왜냐면 하나님으로부터 온 영이 혼에게 말을 하고 이성에게 말하지 않기 때문이다. 그러나 이성은 하나님의 영이 혼에게 전하는 모든 것을 영접할 것이다.

Dead knowledge.... Awakening the spirit....

It is the spirit that makes alive.... You can use many words that your mind forms, and yet they can be and remain dead words unless the spirit is awakened within you and gives them real life.... Understand it, you let your intellect predominate; you seek to fathom everything with the intellect, and you neglect the most important thing, to first bring the spirit to awakening in you, which will then rightly direct all your thoughts and intellect activity, so that you also reach the right understanding of that, which remains incomprehensible for you without this spiritual help. But the spirit is divine part; it certainly slumbers in you, but can only develop when you yourselves move in divine order, i.e. make the principle of love your own. Thus right, truthful intellectual activity is dependent on your inner nature, on your attitude towards love.... You will not be able to deny this fact, that only a life of love ever guarantees you right thinking, that only a life of love also lets the words come alive which you speak, that they then are not just mere form but are valued as spiritual property of meaning.... provided that they are not purely worldly matters but enlightenments which reach into spiritual territory. Because even if a man makes this area to the content of his speeches, he will not be able to give much to fellowman, as long as he himself is still unawakened spirit, because then also all his words are empty and dead, because it is only the spirit, which makes them alive. And again, deeper conversations about spiritual knowledge will also only be held where love is unmistakable, because people without love choose no such content for their conversations.... since these are only filled with the world and therefore no living knowledge can be expected from these. Or speeches are held about it only for professional reasons.... and then they will always remain only dead words without spirit and life. To get from this level to the pure spiritual level is difficult but not impossible.... Who is still too much attached to the world, he can also be led by strokes of fate of the most different kind or other experiences to go into himself and to think seriously. And then already he can listen to the voice of conscience, to the voice of the spirit in him, and now think more seriously. And when his heart is not completely hardened, he will also start to become active in love, and then he penetrates deeper and deeper, and the knowledge, which he had taken in intellectually before, becomes alive in him, what love alone achieves. As long as now also the book of books, which contains divine wisdom, is only read with the intellect and the heart is not yet involved in it, it will also only remain a dead knowledge, because before love does not awaken his spirit, he only reads the letter and does not understand its spiritual meaning.... And such teachers are not qualified to instruct their fellow human beings, for then they cannot speak alive, they only pass on learned knowledge without meaning and life.... And again the fellow human being's state is decisive, to what extent the knowledge is comprehensible to him, i.e., to what extent he takes care of the divine commandments of love.... He will come to understanding when his spirit can instruct him himself, because he lives out love.... Then the word can be offered to him no matter how incomprehensible, everything is bright and clear to him, because he is introduced from the inside what love brings about in him. And only such men should provide a teaching service, who have prepared themselves so that the spirit out of God can work in them, and these are then also called to be active as servants of God. But anyone who calls himself to be without an awakened spirit will hardly be able to work in the vineyard of the Lord, for then he will only be worldly active, even if he puts a spiritual cloak around his profession, he will remain a servant of the world because he will not be able to lead people to where the actual goal is.... because his sermons are dead and help no-one to come to life, for the human being must attain life from within, and this is only possible through a life of love, through which the spiritual spark in the human being makes contact with the Father-Spirit of eternity and then a maturing of the soul is also possible in earthly life.... for the spirit from God addresses the soul, not the intellect.... But this will then also accept everything what the spirit out of God imparts to the soul....
