물질을 극복하는 일.

세상의 재물을 경멸하는 법을 배우라. 물질이 너희의 삶의 내용이 되게 하지 말고, 물질 위에 서라. 영적인 내용들을 헤아려 보고 이해하려고 시도하라. 물질은 너희보다 끝없이 멀리 뒤떨어진 상태에 있다. 너희의 갈망을 통해 영적인 것에 물질이 함께 하게 하면서 다시 사슬을 갇히지 말라. 이런 일은 이 땅의 성장의 마지막 단계에 도달한 너희에게 퇴보를 의미하는 일이다. 왜냐면 너희의 갈망이 너희 혼이 어떤 종말을 맞이하게 될지에 결정적이기 때문이다. 혼이 물질적 재물로부터 결별할 수 없게 되면, 물질이 혼을 저 세상까지 따라와 혼을 퇴보하게 만들려고 시도할 것이다. 그러면 혼은 또한 저세상에 퇴보하고, 최종적으로 다시 물질 안으로 들어가게 된다. 이런 일은 영적인 존재에게 말할 수 없는 고통을 의미한다.

나의 대적자에게 속한 모든 것을 극복하도록 이 땅의 생명이 주어졌다. 너희는 자유의지로 영의 나라로 향하는 발을 내딛어야 한다. 그러나 물질을 포기하는 일과 아직 성장하지 않은 영적인 존재들로부터 심장이 자유롭게 되는 일이 요구되고, 그러므로 영의 영역으로 들어갈 수 없다. 너희 자신이 아직 물질의 짐을 지고 있는 동안에는, 너희가 빛의 영역으로 올라가는 일에 성공하지 못할 것이고, 너희는 즉시 물질 안으로 육신을 입은 존재에 의해 이 땅에 억류될 것이다.

왜냐면 이런 존재는 아직 나를 대적하고, 모든 영적인 존재가 나에게 속하는 일을 막기를 원하기 때문이다. 그러므로 물질이 사람에게 미치는 영향이 아주 크고, 사람의 갈망이 물질로 향하고 있고, 그의 모든 추구하는 대상이 물질이다. 그러나 이런 추구는 이 땅의 삶의 목적과 일치하지 않는다. 오히려 너희는 물질을 너희 심장에서 없애야 하고, 영적인 재물을 추구해야 한다. 너희는 영적인 재물로 인해 훨씬 더 행복하게 될 것이고, 어떤 이 땅의 재물도 너희가 이 땅의 재물을 포기하고 극복하면서 얻은 영적인 재물을 능가하는 것이 없다.

너희의 원래의 원소는 영적인 존재였고, 잘못된 방향을 향한 의지로 인해 물질 안으로 묶임을 받았다. 이 묶임이 영적인 존재에게 고통을 주어, 영적인 존재 안에 물질로부터 해방되려는 영적인 갈망이 깨어나게 한다. 너희가 인간의 단계에 도달하면, 너희는 가장 큰 부분의 성공을 거두었다. 그러나 너희는 물질이라고 할 수 있는 모든 것으로부터 완전히 자유롭게 되고, 대신에 영적인 존재를 갈망하고, 자체로 최고로 온전한 영이고 너희를 생성한 나와 연합을 이루는 마지막 시험을 아직 통과해야만 한다. 자유롭고 완전히 묶임이 없이 가장 충만한 힘으로 역사할 수 있는 원래의 원소가 되기 위해 너희는 나와 연합을 이뤄야만 한다.

너희는 형체 안에 묶여 있는 영적인 존재들과 끝이 없게 먼 거리를 두어야 한다. 너희가 영으로써 모든 자유 가운데 활동하기 원하면, 너희는 더 이상 형체를 갈망해서는 안 된다. 모든 형체가, 모든 물질이 너희의 이 땅의 삶의 목적이자 목표인 완전히 영화된 상태에 도달하는 일에 너희에게 방해가 된다는 것을 이제 이해하라. 그러므로 너희는 단념하는 연습을 하라. 눈에 보이는 모든 것의 주인이 되라. 이로써 너희가 물질에 압도당하지 않게 하고, 너희를 어두움 속으로, 굳은 물질 안으로 파문을 받지 않게 하라. 너희가 물질을 극복하지 못한다면, 굳은 물질 안으로 파문을 받는 일이 너희의 운명이 된다.

Overcoming matter....

Learn to despise the goods of the world, do not let them become the content of your life, but stand above matter, seek to fathom and grasp the spiritual. Matter is endlessly far behind you, don't close the chain again by likewise demanding back and joining the spiritual in matter through your desire, which would be a step backwards for you who have reached the last stage of development on earth. For your desire is decisive as to how your soul ends. If it cannot separate itself from material goods then these will still pursue it into the beyond and seek to draw it back, then the soul can also still sink in the beyond and finally be conceived into matter again, which means unheard-of and endless agonies for the spiritual. Earthly life is given to you to overcome everything that belongs to My adversary, of your own free will you should take the step into the spiritual kingdom which, however, requires giving up matter, a detachment of the heart from things which still harbour undeveloped spiritual substances and therefore cannot find entrance into the spiritual kingdom. As long as you are still burdened by it your ascent into the spheres of light will not be successful, you will, as it were, be held back on earth by the essence which is embodied in matter. For this entity still resists Me and also wants to prevent all spiritual substances from joining Me, which is why the influence of matter on the human being is very great, which is why the human being's greed is directed towards matter and fills his entire striving. Yet this striving does not correspond to the purpose of earthly life, rather, you should eradicate it from your hearts, you should strive for spiritual possessions, you will be far more delighted by these, and no earthly possessions outweigh the possessions you spiritually gain by giving up and overcoming the former. Your primal element is spiritual, which was banished into matter through wrong direction of will, which causes it torment as a fetter in order to awaken the desire in the spiritual to become free from matter. If you have reached this stage as a human being you have already largely succeeded, yet you still have to pass the final test of completely detaching yourselves from everything that can be addressed as matter and instead desire the spiritual.... the union with Me, from Whom you have taken your origin, but Who is in Himself a spirit in highest perfection. You must unite with Me in order to become the primal element again, which can work freely and completely unbound in utmost abundance of strength. You must distance yourselves infinitely far from the spiritual, which is bound in form, you may no longer desire form if you want to be active as spirit in all freedom, and you will now understand that all form, all matter, is an obstacle for you to reach this completely spiritualized state, but which is the purpose and aim of your earthly life. Therefore practice renunciation, become masters of all visible things so that matter does not overpower you and pull you back into darkness, into banishment into solid form, which is your fate if you have not overcome matter....
