Spiritual or letter sense.... communion....

Everything I have spoken on earth is said for eternity and will therefore never lose the meaning I have given to My words. However, the fact that people themselves give them a different meaning must never lead to the assumption that I recognize this educated interpretation. Every person would have to come to the realization himself that and why certain interpretations of My word are wrong if only they would seriously think about it; yet they only adhere to the human interpretation and less to My word, which also allows for a different interpretation which should be thought through with the desire to recognize what is right and true.

(5.7.1950) It is certainly justified to quote My word unchanged as proof of the truth of a doctrine of faith, but it must always be kept in mind that it is not the word alone but the spirit of the word which gives the meaning in the first place, thus every word can also be applied if one wants to put a different meaning into it. What I have spoken only makes sense in connection with spiritual development and must therefore always be interpreted spiritually. It must be in connection with the whole, one word cannot be picked out at random and interpreted. My teaching is not incomprehensible, however, it also requires enlightened thinking, because My words only appear meaningless to an unenlightened spirit, thus the human being can only grasp the right meaning if his request for enlightened thinking has preceded it. No coherence can be found with merely intellectual interpretation, pure intellectual thinking gives My word a meaning which can sometimes even be contrary to what I want to say to people. For one thing has to be taken into account, that there is always a battle between truth and lies or error and that the representatives of both sides want to win people's souls, thus they try to influence their thoughts. And the forces of darkness will always intervene where the intellect alone is active, because it is not possible for them to take notice where the human being's spirit is enlightened by his will and his call to Me....

(6/7/1950) You humans could all be instructed by the spirit within you and then you would also immediately recognize where My teaching is permeated by error; where the interpretation of My word is given according to the letter but not according to the meaning; you would also be able to correct any error yourselves through bright thinking, for then you would always be assured of My support which I grant to everyone who desires the pure truth. Yet the adversary endeavours to keep you in ignorance and will try to obscure the truth precisely where important doctrines of faith are at stake. One false doctrine entails another, and a wrong interpretation of My word means a false doctrine.

I cannot stay in an earthly-material form in any other way than that the spiritual substance which is bound in this form is a part of Me which, after the former apostasy, shall slowly return to Me again.... But I, as a supremely perfect being, do not occupy a form which is visible to you in order to be present to you in this form. I am always and everywhere present, yet whether you are aware of Me and can feel Me depends solely on your attitude towards Me. Consequently, you cannot unite with Me through a specific process but only through your self-shaping into love, which results in a direct connection with Me. You therefore have a wrong idea of the Last Supper with My disciples.... because you again only read the literal sense out of My words which I spoke to the disciples but not the spiritual sense.... I gave out bread and wine.... food and drink, I gave and the others received.... always I will be the giver and distribute the bread of heaven, the nourishment of the soul, which it finds in My word alone, which gives it the strength to ascend.... Do the same in My memory.... These words were the simplest indication of the fulfilment of the commandment of neighbourly love, which alone earns people the impartation of My word.... which alone secures My presence for them, so that I can therefore take supper with them as I have promised. My words, My actions were only figurative indications of what they should do in remembrance of Me.... And anyone who asks for the enlightenment of spirit will brightly and clearly recognize and understand the meaning of My words, for the awakening of spirit presupposes a way of life in love, thus also already the union with Me, which earns him fullest truth. Yet as long as people do not understand the spiritual meaning of My words, as long as they still believe Me to be bound in an earthly material form, their spirit is not yet awakened, and therefore they cannot distinguish error from truth....

Geistiger oder Buchstabensinn.... Abendmahl....

Alles, was Ich auf Erden gesprochen habe, ist gesagt für die Ewigkeit und wird daher auch niemals die Bedeutung verlieren, die Ich Meinen Worten gegeben habe. Daß jedoch die Menschen selbst ihnen einen anderen Sinn geben, darf niemals zu der Annahme verleiten, daß Ich diese verbildete Auslegung anerkenne. Es müßte ein jeder Mensch selbst zur Einsicht kommen, daß und warum bestimmte Auslegungen Meines Wortes falsch sind, so sie nur ernstlich darüber nachdenken würden; doch sie halten sich nur an die menschliche Auslegung, weniger aber an Mein Wort, das auch eine andere Auslegung zuläßt, die durchdacht werden sollte mit dem Verlangen, das Rechte und Wahre zu erkennen. (5.7.1950) Es hat wohl eine gewisse Berechtigung, Mein Wort unverändert anzuführen als Beweis der Wahrheit einer Glaubenslehre, es muß aber stets bedacht werden, daß nicht das Wort allein, sondern der Geist des Wortes erst den Sinn ergibt, daß also auch ein jedes Wort angewandt werden kann, will man einen anderen Sinn hineinlegen. Was Ich nun gesprochen habe, hat seinen Sinn immer nur im Zusammenhang mit der geistigen Entwicklung und muß daher auch stets geistig ausgelegt werden. Es muß im Zusammenhang stehen mit dem Ganzen, es kann nicht ein Wort beliebig herausgegriffen und also nun ausgelegt werden. Es ist Meine Lehre nicht unverständlich, jedoch erfordert sie auch erleuchtetes Denken, weil einem unerleuchteten Geist Meine Worte nur sinnlos erscheinen, also der rechte Sinn vom Menschen nur erfaßt werden kann, wenn seine Bitte um erleuchtetes Denken vorangegangen ist. Bei nur verstandesmäßiger Auslegung ist kein Zusammenhang zu finden, reines Verstandesdenken gibt Meinem Wort eine Bedeutung, die mitunter sogar gegensätzlich sein kann zu dem, was Ich den Menschen sagen will. Denn das eine muß bedacht werden, daß immer zwischen Wahrheit und Lüge oder Irrtum ein Kampf herrscht und daß die Vertreter beiderseits die Seelen der Menschen gewinnen wollen, also deren Gedanken zu beeinflussen suchen. Und es werden sich die Kräfte der Finsternis immer dort einschalten, wo der Verstand allein tätig ist, weil es ihnen nicht möglich ist, dort Beachtung zu finden, wo der Geist des Menschen erleuchtet ist durch dessen Willen und seinen Anruf zu Mir.... (6.7.1950) Ihr Menschen könntet alle vom Geist in euch belehrt werden und würdet dann auch sofort erkennen, wo Meine Lehre vom Irrtum durchsetzt ist; wo die Auslegung Meines Wortes buchstabengemäß, nicht aber sinngemäß gegeben wird; ihr würdet auch durch helles Denken jeglichen Irrtum selbst berichtigen können, denn immer wäret ihr dann Meiner Unterstützung sicher, die Ich einem jeden gewähre, der nach der reinen Wahrheit verlangt. Doch der Widersacher ist bemüht, euch in der Unkenntnis zu halten, und er wird gerade dort die Wahrheit zu verdunkeln suchen, wo es um wichtige Glaubenslehren geht. Eine Irrlehre zieht eine andere nach sich, und eine falsche Auslegung Meines Wortes bedeutet eine Irrlehre.

Ich kann Mich nicht anders in einer irdisch-materiellen Form aufhalten, als daß das Geistige, das in dieser Form gebunden ist, ein Teil ist von Mir, das nach dem einstigen Abfall langsam wieder zu Mir zurückkehren soll.... Nicht aber beziehe Ich als höchst vollkommenes Wesen eine für euch schaubare Form, um nun in dieser Form für euch gegenwärtig zu sein. Ich bin immer und überall gegenwärtig, doch ob euch bewußt und fühlbar, das hängt allein von eurer Einstellung zu Mir ab. Ihr könnet euch sonach nicht durch einen bestimmten Vorgang mit Mir vereinigen, sondern nur durch eure Selbstgestaltung zur Liebe, die eine direkte Verbindung mit Mir nach sich zieht. Ihr habt sonach eine falsche Vorstellung von dem Abendmahl mit Meinen Jüngern.... weil ihr wieder nur den Buchstabensinn herausleset aus Meinen Worten, die Ich zu den Jüngern sprach, nicht aber den geistigen Sinn.... Ich teilte aus, Brot und Wein.... Speise und Trank, Ich gab, und die anderen empfingen.... Immer werde Ich der Gebende sein und das Brot des Himmels austeilen, die Nahrung der Seele, die sie allein findet in Meinem Wort, das ihr die Kraft gibt zur Aufwärtsentwicklung.... Tuet das gleiche zu Meinem Andenken.... Es waren diese Worte der einfachste Hinweis auf die Erfüllung des Gebotes der Nächstenliebe, die allein den Menschen die Vermittlung Meines Wortes einträgt.... die allein ihnen Meine Gegenwart sichert, so daß Ich also mit ihnen das Abendmahl halten kann, wie Ich es verheißen habe. Es waren Meine Worte, Mein Handeln nur bildliche Hinweise dafür, was sie tun sollten in der Erinnerung an Mich.... Und wer um die Erleuchtung des Geistes bittet, der wird hell und klar erkennen und den Sinn Meiner Worte verstehen, denn die Erweckung des Geistes setzt einen Lebenswandel in Liebe voraus, also auch schon die Vereinigung mit Mir, die ihm vollste Wahrheit einträgt. Doch solange die Menschen den geistigen Sinn Meiner Worte nicht verstehen, solange sie Mich noch in einer irdisch materiellen Form gebunden glauben, ist ihr Geist noch nicht erweckt, und darum können sie nicht den Irrtum von der Wahrheit unterscheiden....
