Inner rebellion against God.... secret resistance....

The inability to judge spiritual results is again a consequence of inner rebellion against God.... A person need not be a public denier of God, and yet his inner feelings can be directed against everything that reminds him to believe in Him. For if his soul is still at the furthest distance from God it still harbours secret resistance, even though it entered embodiment on earth with the will to free itself from every form. This soul is still too much controlled by the demon, by its greatest enemy, who wants to win the being back for his kingdom. He rebels against the soul, as it were, against everything divine, he holds the dazzling work of earthly life against it, and he tries to present the earthly path to it as the last stage of existence. And now the soul wants to utilize everything for earthly enjoyment. But knowledge of God can only be gained by putting earthly enjoyment to one side. Man must despise the latter, and he must not become a slave to that which is part of God's counter-power. He must be able to detach himself from everything he holds dear and convey this to his fellow human being in willingness, if the latter lacks it; only then will the influence of evil diminish and thus also the aversion to the divine. An open denier of God can be confronted even more easily by speaking openly about something he rejects. However, it is difficult to give instruction to those who do not openly show their rejection, but carry it all the more stubbornly in their hearts, for they will only rarely respond to it, will neither affirm nor deny it, they will also, being under bad influence, think little about it. And for the sake of such people God expresses Himself clearly, albeit in a way that is not very favourable to them. A natural event often gives even worldly-minded people cause for reflection. They then sometimes begin to visualize the end result of their way of life and the question arises in them: What is everything for?.... Without purpose there is nothing.... What is the purpose of life on earth?.... And then a change of thinking can set in, because at the same time the inclination towards earthly good has become weaker through the realization of the transience of that which the work of destruction has brought to them. For God's love seeks to win all His living creations for Himself and His kingdom, and anyone who does not recognize God's love in a carefree earthly existence has to experience hardship and sorrow in order to come to the realization of what he has neglected.... He must transform himself and his thinking, he must become love in order to be able to recognize the highest love....

La ribellione interiore contro Dio - Resistenza segreta

L’incapacità di giudicare risultati spirituali è di nuovo una conseguenza della ribellione interiore contro Dio. L’uomo non dev’essere necessariamente un aperto rinnegatore di Dio, e malgrado ciò tutto il suo percepire interiore può rivolgersi contro tutto ciò che ammonisce alla fede in Lui. Perché se la sua anima è ancora lontanissima da Dio, allora porta in sé ancora la segreta resistenza, anche se ha accettato l’incorporazione sulla Terra con la volontà di liberarsi da ogni forma. Quest’anima è ancora troppo dominata dal demone, dal suo più grande nemico, che vorrebbe di nuovo riconquistare l’essere per il suo regno. Lui cerca per così dire di ribellare l’anima contro tutto il Divino, le tiene incontro l’opera d’abbaglio della vita terrena, e cerca di presentarle la vita terrena come ultimo stadio dell’esistenza. Ed ora l’anima vuole sfruttare tutto per il godimento terreno. Ma la conoscenza di Dio può essere conquistata solo nella retrocessione di questo. L’uomo deve disprezzare quest’ultimo, non deve diventare schiavo di ciò che è parte del potere opposto a Dio. Deve potersi staccare da tutto ciò che gli piace, e trasmettere questo ai suoi prossimi nella disponibilità, se questo manca a loro; solo allora diminuisce l’influenza del maligno e con ciò anche la negazione contro il Divino. Ad un aperto rinnegatore di Dio si può andare incontro più facilmente, mentre si può parlare apertamente di qualcosa che lui rifiuta. Ma a coloro, che non mostrano apertamente il rifiuto, ma che lo portano più caparbiamente nel cuore, è difficile dare un insegnamento, perché accettano solo molto raramente di esprimersi su ciò in modo affermativo e negativo, vi rifletteranno anche poco, stando sotto cattiva influenza. E per via di tali uomini Dio Si manifesta udibilmente, anche se in modo a loro poco gradito. Un avvenimento della natura dà sovente motivo per riflettere anche a coloro, che sono di mentalità mondana. Allora qualche volta cominciano a tenersi davanti agli occhi il risultato finale del loro cammino di vita e poi in loro salgono le domande: Perché tutto questo? Nulla è senza scopo. Qual è lo scopo della vita terrena? Ed allora può iniziare un cambiamento del pensare, perché contemporaneamente è diventata più debole la tendenza al bene terreno attraverso la conoscenza della sua caducità, che l’Opera di distruzione ha procurato. Perché l’Amore di Dio cerca di conquistare tutte le Sue creature per Sé e per il Suo Regno, e chi non riconosce l’Amore di Dio nella sua spensierata esistenza terrena, deve sperimentare miseria e preoccupazioni, per arrivare tramite questi alla conoscenza di ciò che ha mancato di fare. Deve trasformare sé ed il suo pensare, deve diventare amore, per poter riconoscere l’Amore più sublime.
