Distance from God.... self-knowledge.... union....

In order to reduce the distance from God the human being has to be aware of his distance from Him and thus experience the separation as oppressive or painful, then he will strive to change the unsatisfactory state and thus consciously work on himself in the realization that his own state of maturity has to be raised in order to reduce the distance from God. Self-knowledge is therefore the first condition for conscious soul work, but this is least likely to be found in people, for they do not consider themselves flawed and therefore do nothing to improve their spiritual state. It is extremely difficult to shake the feeling of excellence in people, and yet this is just as necessary, for only a person who regocnizes his own shortcomings will do anything to remedy them. And again, the will for truth is absolutely necessary, for the truth-loving person gives account to himself of his thoughts and actions, and he exercises criticism, thus it is understandable that the person whose heart strives for truth is close to the right path, for his train of thought is guided such that he regocnizes himself and consequently also strives for a change in his nature. And thus, when he regocnizes his shortcomings, he becomes small and humble, he wants to rectify them and appeals to God for strength, and thus he is already approaching the eternal deity, for he wants to go to God.... He regocnizes his unworthy state and wants to escape it.... He feels that he is incapable of doing so on his own and thus requests divine grace, and now the distance from God becomes ever smaller, for when the human being receives the strength from God, which he requires for his spiritual well-being, God's love also takes hold of him and makes his heart capable of love.... And love in turn brings him ever closer to God, love finally cancels out the distance from God completely, love establishes union.... The course on earth has now finally brought about that man has given up his will striving against God and has rejoined his father from eternity of his own will, thus is redeemed from endless long bondage....

하나님과의 거리. 스스로 깨닫는 일. 연합.

하나님과의 거리를 줄이기 위해 사람은 하나님과의 거리를 깨달아야만 한다. 즉 분리를 압박하거나 고통스럽게 느껴야만 한다. 그러면 그는 자신을 불만족스럽게 하는 상태를 변화시키려고 노력하게 될 것이다. 그는 이제 자신의 하나님과의 거리를 줄이기 위해 자신의 성숙한 상태를 높여야만 한다는 깨달음으로 자신에 대한 작업을 의식적으로 행한다. 그러므로 자신을 깨닫는 일이 의식적으로 혼에 대한 작업을 하기 위한 첫 번째 조건이다. 그러나 이런 조건을 갖춘 사람들을 가장 적게 발견할 수 있다. 왜냐하면 그들이 자신에게 잘못이 있다고 생각하지 않기 때문이다. 그러므로 그들은 그들의 영의 상태를 개선하기 위해 아무 일도 하지 않는다.

사람의 탁월하다는 느낌을 뒤흔드는 일은 특별하게 어렵다. 그러나 이 일은 마찬가지로 필요하다. 왜냐하면 자신의 결점을 깨닫는 사람이 비로소 이런 결점을 바로잡기 위해 손을 대기 때문이다. 진리를 향한 의지가 다시 절대적으로 필요하다. 왜냐하면 진리를 사랑하는 사람은 스스로 자신의 생각과 행동에 대해 점검하기 때문이다. 그는 자신을 비판한다. 그러므로 심장으로 진리를 추구하는 사람이 올바른 길 가까이에 있는 일은 이해할 수 있는 일이다. 왜냐하면 그가 자신을 깨닫고, 결과적으로 자신의 성품의 변화를 위해 노력하게 하는 방식으로 그의 생각이 인도받기 때문이다. 그러므로 그가 자신의 결점을 인식하자마자, 그는 작아지고 겸손해지게 될 것이다. 그는 결점을 해결하기를 원하고, 힘을 얻기 위해 하나님께 도움을 청한다. 이렇게 그는 영원한 신성 가까이로 다가 간다. 왜냐하면 그가 하나님께 가기를 원하기 때문이다.

그는 자신의 무가치한 상태를 깨닫고, 이런 상태에서 벗어나기를 원한다. 그는 스스로 벗어나는 일을 할 수 없다고 느끼고, 따라서 하나님의 은혜를 요구한다. 이제 하나님과의 거리가 점점 더 줄어든다. 왜냐하면 사람이 자신의 영적인 행복을 위해 요구하는 하나님의 힘이 그에게 주어지면, 하나님의 사랑이 그를 붙잡고, 그의 심장을 사랑할 수 있게 만들기 때문이다. 사랑은 다시 그를 항상 하나님께 더 가까워지게 하고, 사랑이 최종적으로 하나님과의 거리를 완전히 제거하고, 사랑이 연합을 이룬다. 그러면 이 땅의 과정이 이제 사람이 자신의 하나님을 대적하는 의지를 포기하고, 자신의 의지로 자신의 영원한 아버지와 다시 최종적으로 연결이 되게 한 것이다. 그러므로 그는 끝없이 긴 묶임에서 구원을 받았다.
