1431 Serve or fight....

May 22, 1940: Book 23

Be obedient servants of the lord and do not challenge divine justice. For if you grieve the lord by rebelling against His will, He must force you to serve in another way; He must grant you what corresponds to disobeying His will.... He must make you fight where you were originally only meant to serve. Fighting is something brutal, exhausting.... while serving is the state of deepest devotion. So if you withdraw from serving, you will have to fight, and many a pain will be granted to you, which you can avert through your will to serve. And humanity no longer serves each other, and therefore it is at war with each other. They refuse to obey the divine lord and therefore battle is their fate. And if they do not try to remedy this state through service the battle will last for ages, for God is just, and this justice shall again be your consolation and assurance that every state of suffering will come to an end if the being on earth and also in the beyond is willing to serve. Then the battle, the suffering, must also come to an end. And therefore all people must help bear their fellow human being's suffering and thus serve, and all struggle will be eliminated, for God does not allow His creatures to perish through struggle whose hearts are capable of love and always willing to help.... To serve therefore means to be obedient to the divine will.... Serving also means recognizing a master over oneself, and man has his work cut out for him if he always wants to do justice to the divine will. But he will then also be freed from the struggle. Everything difficult will only affect him to the extent that it is necessary for the further development of the soul. An earthly child whose will it is to serve the divine lord.... thus to be obedient in everything the lord demands of him, will be considered according to divine justice.... God's love is infinite and He wants His creatures to be receptive to this love. Thus they must first obey the one Who wants to bestow this love upon them.... And if they offer resistance to the most loving being and thereby manifest their disobedience, suffering and struggle must first shape the human heart such that it longs for God's love and thus willingly learns to obey.... i.e. fulfil the divine will at all times....

Amen
