0920 Teaching activity in the beyond.... eagerness of imperfect beings to learn....
May 17, 1939: Book 18
The eagerness to learn of the still imperfect beings in the beyond, once they have recognized it, is tireless. They seek to acquire spiritual treasures everywhere and accept everything offered to them with diligence and gratitude, and thus teaching in the beyond is also an office which is carried out with all diligence and devotion, for the benefit of the recipients depends on the one who teaches. Earthly people only accept what is offered to them after a long period of hesitation, whereas in the beyond the beings initially observe and examine everything quietly but very soon come to realization, then they eagerly acquire the spiritual knowledge in order to be able to use it again. For since they have experienced their own hardship, which was caused by the lack of spiritual knowledge, they now endeavour to protect the other spiritual beings from the same fate and give them everything which could reduce and shorten their torment. And every gift is gratefully received, for at the same time strength is given to the beings, and therefore every being strives upwards if it was only once given spiritual nourishment to taste and now only desires divine nourishment. It is also immensely pleasing for the teacher to preach the gospel to the poor in spirit, because love drives him to it.... Because in ordert o be able to teach, he must stand in love and in the light, i.e., he must have reached a certain state of maturity or perfection which also requires love to a great extent. All teachers are therefore driven by the love dwelling in them to divest themselves, i.e., to give away their knowledge to everyone who likewise desires divine wisdom. And thus every being in the beyond can continue to draw from the source of grace of divine love, and to a greater extent if it also participates in the connections between the beyond and earth. The initiated communications also allow the being in the beyond to gain precise insight, and unlimited knowledge is offered to the earthly children and can also be received in the beyond. The desire of these beings is indescribable and God's love infinite, and thus He continually gives His grace to the beings which desire the truth....
