Geistiger Fortschritt - Ständiges Ringen und Kämpfen....

Jeder geistige Fortschritt muß erkämpft werden.... immer wird eine Überwindung seiner selbst vorangehen müssen, soll die Seele ausreifen und einen geistigen Erfolg verzeichnen können. Und immer muß darum der Wille tätig werden, es wird der Mensch nicht gezwungen dazu, sondern in völliger Willensfreiheit muß er denken und handeln.... Und darum wird es ihm oft schwer gemacht, auf daß sein Wille sich erprobe, es werden ihm Hindernisse in den Weg gelegt, Versuchungen aller Art treten an ihn heran, denen er nur mit äußerster Willensstärke Widerstand entgegensetzen kann, und tut er dies, dann schreitet er auch unweigerlich zur Höhe. Ein ständiges Ringen und Sich-Überwinden ist daher des Menschen Los auf Erden, weil anders er nicht zur Höhe gelangen kann. Es ist das Erdenleben eine Probe, in der sich der Mensch bewähren soll, und er wird versagen, so er nicht ständig ringt und strebt. Denn Gott will das Verlangen nach Sich in dem Menschen entfachen, Er will es verstärken durch jeden Widerstand, auf daß der Mensch immer mehr strebt und dadurch Ihm immer näherkommt. Einen kampflosen Aufstieg gibt es nicht, denn selbst der liebewillige Mensch muß wider sich selbst ankämpfen, er muß jegliche Eigenliebe unterdrücken, er muß sich selbst versagen, was er dem Mitmenschen antun will, und es ist dies immer ein innerer Kampf, bevor er jenen Grad der Vollkommenheit erreicht hat, der ihn sich selbst vergessen läßt. Solange die irdische Materie den Menschen umgibt, muß er den Kampf gegen diese führen, und es erfordert viel Willenskraft, sich ganz frei zu machen von dem Verlangen nach ihr, weil der Körper noch zu eng mit ihr verbunden ist. Der zu Gott strebende Mensch aber stellt die Materie immer mehr zurück, und so er vor die Wahl gestellt wird, gibt er sie leichten Herzens hin, weil Gott ihm hilft in diesem Kampf, sowie Er dessen Willen ersieht, also es wird der Kampf desto leichter sein, je verlangender der Mensch Gott zustrebt. Denn nun wird auch die Liebe in ihm rege, und diese entäußert sich weit eher alles dessen, was dem Menschen hinderlich ist zur Höhe. Wer die Liebe hat, der ist den Weg des Kampfes schon gegangen, und er ist als Sieger aus diesem hervorgegangen, er ist geistig fortgeschritten, und nun wird sein Leben ein leichteres sein, denn er dienet nun und braucht darum nicht mehr zu kämpfen.... Und jedes Dienen in Liebe ist ein geistiger Fortschritt, jedes Dienen in Liebe ist ein Überwinden seiner selbst aus freiem Willen, dem ein Kämpfen vorangegangen ist, sowie der Mensch in einem niedrigen Reifegrad stand.... Er darf nicht mutlos werden, denn ein hohes Ziel krönet sein eifriges Streben. Er muß immer darauf bedacht sein, daß er um dieses Zieles willen den Gang auf der Erde zurücklegt und daß von ihm nur das eine gefordert wird.... Unterwerfung unter den göttlichen Willen.... dem er bisher widerstand.... Es erfordert dies Überwindung und Kampf, bis er zur Liebe geworden ist und ohne Widerstreben den göttlichen Willen erfüllt.... bis er den gleichen Willen hat und Gott dadurch nahegekommen ist....

Spiritual progress - constant struggle and fight....

All spiritual progress must be fought for.... must always be preceded by an overcoming of oneself if the soul is to mature and achieve spiritual success. And therefore the will always has to become active, the human being is not forced to do so but has to think and act in complete freedom of will.... And therefore it is often made difficult for him to test his will, obstacles are placed in his path, temptations of all kinds approach him which he can only resist with utmost strength of will, and if he does so then he will inevitably ascend. A constant struggle and overcoming is therefore man's lot on earth, because otherwise he cannot reach the heights. Life on earth is a test in which the human being has to prove himself and he will fail if he does not constantly struggle and strive. For God wants to kindle the desire for Himself in the human being, He wants to strengthen it through every resistance so that the human being strives ever more and thereby comes ever closer to Him. There is no ascent without a fight, for even the person who is willing to love has to fight against himself, he has to suppress all self-love, he has to deny himself what he wants to do to his fellow human being, and this is always an inner battle before he has reached that degree of perfection which makes him forget himself. As long as earthly matter surrounds the human being he has to fight against it, and it requires a lot of willpower to completely free himself from the desire for it because the body is still too closely connected to it. But the human being who strives towards God increasingly puts matter aside, and when he is faced with the choice he gives it up with a light heart because God helps him in this battle as soon as He recognizes his will, thus the battle will be easier the more the human being strives towards God. For now love also becomes active in him, and this renounces far sooner everything that hinders man from ascending. Anyone who has love has already travelled the path of battle and emerged victorious, he has progressed spiritually and now his life will be easier, for he is now serving and therefore no longer needs to fight.... And every service in love is spiritual progress, every service in love is an overcoming of oneself of one's own free will, which was preceded by a struggle as soon as the human being was in a low degree of maturity.... He must not become discouraged, for a high goal crowns his eager endeavour. He must always be mindful that he walks the earth for the sake of this goal and that only one thing is required of him.... submission to the divine will.... which he has so far resisted.... This requires overcoming and struggle until he has become love and fulfils the divine will without resistance.... until he has the same will and has thereby come close to God....
