Werkzaamheid van de geestvonk in de mens

Het keerpunt in het aardse leven is het moment, waarop de ziel de geest in zich de vrijheid geeft. Dat deze zich naar de hoogte verheffen kan om met het geestelijke buiten de menselijke ziel in verbinding te treden. Hoe vroeger dit proces begint, des te eerder bereikt de mens de rijpheidsgraad, die voorwaarde is voor het ontvangen van licht en kennis.

De mens is onwetend, zolang de geest in hem nog niet actief is. Zolang de goddelijke vonk in de mens sluimert, want het geestelijke kan zich niet aan de menselijke ziel openbaren. Ze is in zekere zin niet in staat om een geestelijke mededeling te begrijpen, want haar rijk is de aarde, de materie en het geestelijke is haar nog volkomen vreemd. Pas wanneer de geestvonk in haar zelf actief wordt en probeert om kennis uit het geestelijke rijk te door te geven, begint ze te begrijpen.

De mens zal net zo lang geen begrip hebben voor dat, wat aards niet zichtbaar of tastbaar is, als hij er zich niet nader mee bezig houdt. Maar dat laatste doet hij pas dan, als het aards zichtbare en tastbare niet meer volstaat. Dus wanneer de vervulling van de aardse verlangens hem onaantrekkelijk lijkt. Als hij dus geen aandacht schenkt aan het lichaam en naar hogere kennis verlangt. Wanneer hij plotseling een gebrek ziet in zijn huidige toestand. Wanneer het leven dat hij leidt, hem niet meer volstaat en hij zijn aandacht richt op zaken, die hij met het blote verstand niet doorgronden kan.

Dan piekert hij. Dus stuurt hij zijn geest naar de hoogte en nu verbindt de geest zich met de geest buiten zich, die overeenkomt met de aard van de mens. Dat wil zeggen dat als de mens goed, edel en waarheidlievend is en een verlangen naar God heeft, zijn geest zich dan verbindt met het geestelijke, dat hetzelfde streven heeft, dat zodoende het goede, ware en goddelijke belichaamt. Maar dat in tegenstelling tot de mens, die al op een trede van volmaaktheid staat, die het in staat stelt om het zich aan hem toevertrouwde geestelijke te onderwijzen. Wat de geest dus nu ontvangt, zijn wijsheden, die alleen maar het geestelijke rijk betreffen. Die dus wel aan de menselijke ziel gegeven kunnen worden, maar die geen aardse kwesties betreffen, maar enkel en alleen de geestelijke opwaartse ontwikkeling van de mens bevorderen.

Deze opwaartse ontwikkeling lijkt echter alleen maar voor die mensen belangrijk, die zich van het aardse leven kunnen scheiden. Maar voor de anderen is ze een leeg begrip, want hun zielen begrijpen eenvoudigweg niet, dat ze een leven kunnen leiden naast het aardse, dat hen veel aantrekkelijker en nuttiger lijkt.

Pas wanneer de ziel de geest in zich vrij geeft, kan deze de ziel inwijden in de kostelijkheden van het geestelijke rijk. En dan streeft de ziel eveneens naar de hoogte. Dat wil zeggen dat ze het vurigst naar de resultaten van de geestelijke vlucht omhoog, in het geestelijke rijk, verlangt. Want ze herkent de waarde van dat, wat de geest haar probeert over te dragen. Ze herkent hem en probeert zich de schenking uit het geestelijke rijk waardig te maken. Dus streeft de mens nu bewust naar kennis, naar het licht en het bewuste streven levert hem ook licht op. De mens wordt wetend en zijn aardse leven levert hem het juiste resultaat op. De opwaartse ontwikkeling van zijn ziel, die het doel en de bestemming van zijn aardse levenswandel is.

Activity of the spiritual spark in man....

The turning point in earthly life is the moment when the soul gives the spirit within itself the freedom to vibrate upwards in order to make contact with the spiritual beyond the human soul. The earlier this process begins, the sooner the human being reaches the degree of maturity which is the precondition for receiving light and knowledge. The human being is ignorant as long as the spirit in him is not yet active, as long as the divine spark slumbers in the human being, for the spiritual cannot reveal itself to the human soul; it is as it were incapable of grasping a spiritual communication, for its kingdom is earth, matter.... and the spiritual is still completely alien to it. Only when the spiritual spark within itself becomes active and tries to impart knowledge from the spiritual realm does it begin to comprehend. Man will have no understanding of that which is not earthly visible or tangible as long as he does not concern himself more closely with it. However, he only does the latter when what is earthly visible and tangible is no longer sufficient for him, i.e. when the fulfilment of physical desire seems unattractive to him, i.e. when he disregards the body and longs for higher knowledge;.... when he suddenly recognizes a shortcoming in his current state.... when the life he leads is not enough for him and he turns his attention to things he cannot fathom with mere common sense. Then he ponders, i.e. he sends his spirit upwards, and now the spirit connects with the spiritual outside itself, which corresponds to the nature of man. In other words, if the human being is good and noble, truth-loving and longing for God, then his spirit connects with the spiritual that was in the same endeavour, that embodied the good, the true and the divine.... But which, in contrast to man, already stands on a level of perfection that enables it to teach the spiritual that entrusts itself to it. What the spirit therefore now receives are wisdoms which only concern the spiritual kingdom, which therefore can certainly be imparted to the human soul, but which do not concern earthly questions but merely promote the spiritual higher development of the human being. However, this higher development only appears significant to those people who are able to separate themselves from earthly experience, but to others it is an empty concept, for their souls simply do not realize that they can lead a life apart from the earthly, which seems much more appealing and purposeful to them. Only when the soul releases the spirit within itself can it initiate the soul into the splendours of the spiritual kingdom, and then the soul will likewise strive to ascend, that is, it will longingly desire the results of the spiritual flight upwards, into the spiritual kingdom. For it recognizes the value of what the spirit tries to convey to it, it recognizes it and tries to make itself worthy of the attention from the spiritual kingdom.... Thus the human being now consciously strives for realization, for light, and the conscious striving also brings him light, the human being becomes knowledgeable and his earthly life brings him the right success.... the higher development of his soul, which is the purpose and goal of earthly life....
