모든 물질은 영적으로 생명을 유지한다.

그 자체 안에 생명이 없는 것처럼 보이는 물질도 그 안에 생명이 있다. 그러므로 비록 너희가 어떤 존재가 겉으로 보기에는 성장할 수 없는, 즉 어떤 의미에서 행하지 못하도록 강요받는, 가장 굳은 물질을 거처로 할당 받는 일을 이해하지 못할지라도, 물질이 영적인 존재를 담고 있는 것으로 인정해야만 한다. 그러나 하나님은 영적인 존재의 의지를 알고, 그의 의지에 따라 그에게 겉형체를 주었다. 하지만 영적인 존재의 의지가 하나님의 뜻에 거역하는 동안에는 영적인 존재는 하나님의 뜻대로 행하기를 원하지 않는다. 그러므로 영적인 존재가 섬기는 일을 할 수 있는 가능성이 없다.

그러나 활동은 생명을 의미하고, 활동하지 않는 존재는 죽은 상태에 머물게 될 것이다. 그러므로 존재의 겉형체인 물질은 끝없이 긴 기간 동안 변하지 않고 그대로 머물게 될 것이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 물질 안에 어떤 존재가 거한다. 이 존재는 굳은 겉형체를 지속적인 짓눌림으로, 사슬로 느끼고, 그의 고통스러운 상태에서 벗어나기 위해 그의 저항을 포기하도록 이끈다. 물질 자체도 마찬가지로 하나님을 대적하는 영적인 존재이다. 즉 성장과정을 비로소 시작한 영적인 존재이다.

그러나 이런 영적인 존재는 마찬가지로 단지 섬기는 일을 통해 구원받을 수 있다. 영적인 존재가 섬기는 일은 이미 더 성장한 영적인 존재의 겉형체가 되는 일이고, 이런 겉형체가 그가 섬기는 일을 가능하게 한다. 그러므로 그의 자원하는 자세로 영적인 존재의 성장을 도우려는 의지를 통해 자신이 성장할 수 있고, 또한 자신도 겉형체를 제공받고, 이 형체 안에서 자신이 섬기는 일을 하도록 허용을 받는 정도를 서서히 도달할 수 있다. 그러나 성장과정은 오랜 기간 지속이 되고, 그러므로 물질 자체가 완전히 분해되기까지, 물질을 극복했다고 말할 수 있기까지, 물질에게 오랜 시간이 걸린다. 그러나 많은 영적인 존재들이 연합하고, 항상 더 온전해지고, 더 커지는 형체로 나타나는, 항상 더욱 온전해지고 더 큰 형체가 될 때까지 성장의 과정이 이제 계속돼야만 한다.

영적인 존재가 소위 죽은 물질 안에 거하는 동안에는, 영적인 존재의 상태는 동일하게 유지된다. 다시 말해 그들은 하나님을 대적하는 의지 가운데 머물고, 그러므로 그들 주변 환경의 변화나 그들의 겉형체의 변화를 기대할 수 없다. 그러나 영원을 아는 지식으로 볼 때, 물질은 저항력이 약해질 가능성이 가장 큰 영적인 존재가 물질의 바깥 가장자리를 살아있게 하는 방식으로 구성되어 있다. 그러므로 끝없이 긴 시간 동안 일어나는 작은 변화를 외부에서 인간의 눈으로 희미하게 깨닫을 수 있다. 반면에 물질의 내부에서는 변화가 일어나지 않고, 그 안에 묶임을 받은 존재를 하나님의 의지와 권세가 개입하여 물질을 파괴하거나 파괴당하게 할 때까지 자유롭게 되지 못한다.

그러면 내면의 영적인 존재도 원하면, 자원하여 빛을 향하는 길을 갈 수 있다. 영적인 존재가 빛으로 향하는 길을 언젠가 찾으면, 존재는 빛을 향해 나간다. 왜냐면 굳은 물질도 또한 빛이 주는 유익을 느끼고, 하나님을 향한 그의 저항이 점점 줄어들기 때문이다. 그러나 굳은 물질 안의 영적인 존재의 영적 상태는 더 부드러운 형체 안의, 인간의 눈에 생명체가 보이는 그러므로 또한 그 안에 어떤 존재를 인정할 수 있는 식물과 동물의 세계 안의 영적인 존재의 상태와 완전히 다르다. 왜냐면 이런 변형 가운데 영적인 존재가 하나님의 법에 따라 일어날 지라도, 더 자유롭게 움직이고 활동할 수 있기 때문이다.

그러나 굳은 물질도 마찬가지로 그 안에 영적인 존재가 있고, 단지 존재가 완전히 무기력하고, 겉 겉형체에 의해 묶여 있기 때문에 생명이 없다. 어떤 묶인 것은 움직일 수 없고, 그러므로 사슬을 벗어날 때까지 죽은 것처럼 보인다. 어떤 의미에서 영적인 입자들이 서로 싸우고 있다. 물질은 성숙하지 못한 영적인 입자들로 구성되어 있다. 이 입자들은 연합하는 가운데 이미 더 성숙한 영적인 존재가 떠나지 않게 하기를 원한다. 왜냐면 영적인 존재에게 거처를 제공하는 일이 그들의 사명이기 때문이다. 물질 안의 영적인 존재는 이미 더 높은 수준의 지능을 가지고 있고, 단지 영적인 존재 자신의 하나님을 향한 저항에 의해 무기력하게 되었고, 그러므로 짐이 되는 묶임을 거부하거나 자유롭게 될 수 없다.

그러나 물질이 파괴되면, 영적인 존재는 물질을 벗어나 다른 형체 안으로 들어간다. 왜냐면 그가 하나님의 뜻에 반하여 자유를 사용하거나 행복하게 느낄 수 없기 때문이다. 파괴되는 역사가 하나님의 뜻에 따라 일어났다면, 영적인 존재는 그에게 계속 성장을 의미하는 변형을 맞이하게 된다. 반면에 인간의 악한 의지로 인한 계획되지 않은 파괴인 경우에는 영적인 존재는 그 안에서 견뎌온 고통에도 불구하고 같은 형체를 다시 찾는다. 왜냐면 모든 영적인 존재는 인간으로 육신을 입기 전에 하나님의 의무의 법칙 아래 있기 때문이다.

그러나 모든 물질을 영적인 존재의 겉형체로 보아야만 한다. 물질이 어떤 유용한 일을 보여주는 동안에는, 섬기는 목적을 성취시키는 일에 아직 사용될 수 있는 동안에는 영적인 존재가 위로 성장해야 한다. 이런 물질이 이제 사람들에 의해 모든 종류의 창조물로 사용이 되면, 사람은 물질 안의 영적인 존재를 돕는다. 즉 영적인 존재가 위로 성장하도록 돕는다. 그러므로 사람이 열심히 일하는 일은 영적인 의미에서 상상할 수 없을 만큼 유익하다. 왜냐면 물질 안의 영적인 존재가 생명의 상태가 되게 하고, 생명은 단지 특정한 영적 입자들이 함께 역사하기 위해 연합이 된 후에 부드러워진 형체 안에서 비로소 가능하기 때문이다.

따라서 높이 성장하는 과정은 끊임없이 변화하는 모든 영적인 입자의 겉형체의 변형으로 여겨야만 한다. 그러나 이런 번형으로 활동하는 상태인 생명의 상태가 되기까지, 이로써 형체 안에 거하는 혼의 입자들이 증가하여, 비록 인간 혼은 모든 혼의 입자들이 하나가 된 혼이기 때문에, 인간의 혼과는 비교할 수 없지만, 혼이라고 말할 수 있게 되기까지 초기에는 오랜 시간이 필요하다. (1947년 4월 28일) 그러므로 너희는 이제 너희가 보는 모든 것을 영의 존재들에 의해 살아 있는 것으로 생각해야 한다. 모든 존재는 혼의 축소형이고, 수 없이 많은 혼의 축소형들이 인간의 혼을 형성한다.

물질의 입자들이 성장하여, 그들 자신이 이제 존재로써 자신과 같았던 굳은 물질 안에 거할 수 있게 되면, 물질 자신도 이런 과정을 거치게 될 것이다. 그러므로 어떤 의미에서 의무의 단계에서 두가지의 성장과정을 거치게 된다. 한번은 물질로써, 그런 후에 물질 안에 묶임을 받은 존재로써 거치게 된다. 단지 두번째 단계는 빠르게 이뤄진다. 왜냐면 물질이 완전히 분해되는 일보다 더 빠르게 파괴되기 때문이다. 물질이 쓰임 받는 동안에는, 즉 유용한 목적을 가진 물건으로 처리될 수 있는 동안에는 그 안의 영적인 존재가 빠져나가지 않고, 존재는 단지 오랫동안 활동하지 못하고, 이 가운데 고통을 겪는다.

만약 영적인 존재가 더 많이 생명이 있음을 알게 해주는 겉형체 안에 거한다면, 겉형체는 또한 더 빠른 분해 과정을 겪게 될 것이다. 왜냐면 겉형체의 입자들이 이미 더 성숙했고, 곧 자신 스스로가 더 높이 성장하기 위해 겉형체가 필요하게 되기 때문이다. 모든 영적인 존재는 모든 창조물을 거치는 과정을 가야만 한다. 그렇지 않으면 영적인 존재는 마지막 단계로써 인간 혼 안에 거하는 체험을 할 수 없다. 왜냐면 인간의 혼은 가장 작은 단위의 모든 이 땅의 창조물들로 형성되었기 때문이다. 인간이 볼 수 있는 모든 것은 인간의 혼 안에 포함되어 있고, 아주 예술적으로 결합되어 있어, 너희가 순수한 영의 존재로써 너희 자신의 혼을 관찰할 때, 너희는 바라보는 일과 놀라는 일을 멈추지 못하게 될 것이다.

너희가 이 땅에 사는 동안에는 너희는 이에 관해 들을 수 있지만 그러나 이를 이해하지는 못한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 너희에게 이에 관한 깨달음을 준다. 이로써 종말 전의 마지막 때에 가르치는 직분으로 부름 받은 너희가 올바르게 가르침을 받게 하고, 너희가 높이 성장하는 과정을 진리에 합당하게 생각할 수 있게 되고, 또한 너희가 요청을 받는 경우에 설명해줄 수 있게 한다. 그러나 이에 관한 지식은 영적인 추구를 하지 않는 사람들에게 절대적으로 필요한 것은 아니다. 그러므로 그들에게는 무엇보다도 사랑의 계명을 가르쳐야 한다. 이로써 그들이 그들의 혼을 형성하는 일을 시작하게 해야 한다. 그들은 단지 자신의 혼에 대한 큰 책임을 깨달을 수 있도록 자신의 혼의 이 전의 끝없이 긴 여정을 알아야 한다.

All matter spiritually enlivened....

Even matter, which appears lifeless in itself, carries life within itself and must therefore be recognized as a bearer of spiritual substances, even though it is incomprehensible to you that something spiritual has been assigned the hardest matter to stay in, in which it seemingly cannot develop, thus it is to a certain extent forced into inactivity. But God knows about the will of this beingness and has given it the envelopment accordingly. But as long as the will of the spiritual is opposed to God it is also not willing to carry out an activity according to God's will, therefore the possibility is also denied to it to be active in service. But activity means life, an inactive being will therefore remain in a dead state, and therefore its cover, matter, will remain unchanged for an infinitely long time. And yet it is inhabited by something being-like, which feels a hard outer form as constant pressure, as fetter, to now be driven to give up its resistance, so that it gets relief from its agonizing state. Matter itself is likewise spiritual, which is God-resisting, which therefore only begins its course of development. But this spiritual can also only redeem itself through service, and its service consists of being a cover for the already more mature spiritual, which enables it to serve. Thus, through its willingness to help the spiritual in its ascent development, it can mature itself and slowly gain the degree which also earns it a cover and in which it is permitted to be of service. But the process of development takes a long time, so that matter itself needs a long time before it is completely dissolved and one can speak of overcoming it. But the course of development must now be continued, and this until many spiritual entities have united and this is expressed through ever more perfect and greater forms. As long as the spiritual entities have so-called dead matter as their abode, the state of these entities is constant, i.e., they remain in God-resisting will and therefore cannot expect any change in their surroundings and external form. In the knowledge of eternity, however, matter is so arranged that the spiritual, which is most likely to weaken in its resistance, enlivens the outer edge of matter, which is why even the slight change, which takes place in an infinitely long time, is dimly recognizable to the human eye from outside, while the inside of matter remains unchanged and does not release what is bound in it until God's will and power intervenes and destroys matter or allows it to be destroyed. Then the inner spiritual can also take the path to the light if it is willing. Once it has found the path to the light then it also pushes towards it, for even hard matter feels the benefit of the light and increasingly weakens its resistance to God. But the state of the spiritual in this matter is completely different from that in the softer deformation, in the plant and animal world, where life is visible to the human eye and therefore something essential is also recognized in it. For in this deformation the spiritual can already move and be active more freely, even if according to divine law. Hard matter, however, also harbours spirituality within itself, only lifeless because it is completely powerless and, as it were, bound by the outer shell. Something that is bound cannot move and therefore appears dead until it has burst the fetter. To a certain extent, spiritual substances fight against each other.... matter consists of immature spiritual substances which, when united, do not want to let the already more mature spiritual substance escape because it is their destiny to grant it a place to stay. The spiritual substance in matter already has a higher degree of intelligence, only it is disabled by its resistance to God and therefore cannot defend itself or free itself from the inconvenient fetter. But if matter is destroyed, then it escapes and takes on another form, because against God's will it can neither use freedom nor feel it beneficial. If the act of destruction has taken place in accordance with divine will, then the spiritual substance will take on a form which signifies further development for it, whereas in the case of unplanned destruction through human evil will.... the spiritual substance will seek the same form again, despite the torment it endured in it, because all spiritual substance is subject to God's law of compulsion before its embodiment as a human being. However, all matter must be regarded as a cover for spiritual substances which are to develop as long as this matter represents something useful, as long as it can still be used for things which fulfil a useful purpose. If this matter is now used by people for creations of all kinds, then the human being helps the spiritual in matter to serve and therefore to develop upwards, and that is why a person's industrious work is inconceivably beneficial in a spiritual sense, because all spiritual in matter pushes towards the state of life, which is only possible in loosened forms after certain spiritual substances have come together for joint activity. The course of ascent development therefore proceeds in such a way that every deformation must be regarded as a shell of spiritual substance which constantly changes but which initially requires a long period of time until the state of activity, the state of life, sets in, but then the soul substances in the form increase, thus one can certainly speak of a soul which, however, may not be compared to a human soul because the latter unites all soul substances....

(28.4.1947) And thus you must now imagine that everything you see is enlivened by spiritual entities, every entity is a miniature soul, countless of which form the human soul. Matter itself will also follow this course when its substances have matured to such an extent that they can now take up residence as beings in that which they themselves were before.... solid matter. There are therefore, as it were, two courses of development to be covered in the state of compulsion.... once as matter, but then also as an entity bound in matter, only that this second course of development is considerably faster, for matter is destroyed more quickly than it is totally dissolved, and as long as it is usable.... that is, it can be processed into things which have a useful purpose.... the spiritual in it does not escape either, only it is often without activity for a long time and therefore suffers. If it is then an inhabitant of the more life betraying outer form, then the latter will also undergo a more rapid process of decay, because the substances of the outer form are already more mature and soon need an outer form themselves in order to ascend further. All spiritual substances must travel the path through the whole of creation, otherwise they would not be able to live through the last stage in a human soul, for this soul is formed from all earthly creations in the smallest measure. Everything the human being is able to see is contained in his soul and so artfully put together that you will not stop looking and marvelling if you, as pure spiritual beings, look at your own soul.... You hear it but you don't grasp it as long as you stay on earth, nevertheless, knowledge of it is given to you so that you, who are called to the teaching ministry in the last time before the end, will be properly informed, so that you can truthfully imagine the course of ascent development and also provide information if it is required of you. But the knowledge of it is not absolutely necessary for people who strive little spiritually and to whom therefore the commandment of love is to be preached above all so that they tackle their soul's shaping. They should only know about their soul's infinitely long path beforehand so that they are aware of the great responsibility they bear towards their soul....
