예수 그리스도는 인간의 큰 죄를 깨달았다.

너희 인간은 하나님께 대한 너희 죄의 크기를 측량할 수 없다. 그러므로 너희가 영적 지식에 도달하기 전에는 그리스도의 구속사역이 완전한 의미가 너희에게 선명하게 될 수 없다. 그러므로 거부하려는 의지가 자주 강하다. 왜냐면 구원에 대한 생각과 사람 안에 강하게 발달된 자유에 대한 느낌이 양립할 수 없기 때문이다. 그러므로 그에게 자신의 의지가 묶여 있는 것에 대한 지식이 없는 동안에는, 그는 자신의 의지가 묶여있음을 인정하지 않고, 결과적으로 그를 속박에서 구원해준 분을 인정하지 않는다. 왜냐면 그가 아직 자유의지를 가지고 있기 때문에 이 땅의 묶인 상태를 고통으로 느끼지 않기 때문이다.

그는 예수 그리스도 자신이 십자가에서 죽음으로 그를 위한 구속역사를 이루지 않았다면, 그가 이런 결박의 상태에서 영원히 해방될 수 없음을 알지 못한다. 그가 이 땅에 거하는 동안에 자신의 의지에 큰 영향을 미치는 악의 권세에 대해 그는 알지 못하고, 비록 그의 의지가 자유할지라도, 자신이 너무 연약해서 저항할 수 없기 때문에, 이런 영향력에 빠진다는 것을 알지 못한다. 그는 이런 자유의지를 잘못 사용한 끔찍한 결과를 알지 못한다. 그는 대적자가 영원에 영원한 기간동안 그를 다시 사슬로 묶고, 그가 하나님 자신을 향한 이전의 불의를 행한 죄에 대해 속죄해야만 한다면, 저세상에서 그가 견딜 수 없는 고통을 당해야만 한다는 것을 알지 못한다. 왜냐면 그가 자신의 큰 죄를 알지 못하기 때문이다.

그러나 예수 그리스도는 인간으로써 이를 깨달았다. 다시 말해 인간 예수가 자신의 사랑의 삶을 통해 모든 존재의 원래 상태에 대해, 모든 존재의 아주 큰 죄와 죄의 결과에 대한 가장 깊은 지식을 얻었고, 인간의 연약한 의지와 인간의 자신의 혼의 원수에게 저항하지 못하는 것을 깨달았다. 그는 사람들이 원수의 유혹을 견디고, 이 땅에 거하는 시간을 활용하여, 마침내 원수과 원수의 권세로부터, 즉 원수의 영향력으로부터 해방될 수 있는 강한 의지를 갖도록 돕기를 원했다. 사람들을 위한 이런 증가된 의지의 힘을 얻기 위해 그는 십자가에서 자신의 목숨을 바쳤다. 그의 피가 가장 큰 위험으로부터 사람이 구원을 받게해줘야 할 구매 가격이었다. 그는 자신의 온전함으로 실제 가장 큰 위험을 알고, 그러므로 모든 각각의 사람들이 이를 피하게 해주기를 원했다.

그의 아주 큰 사랑이 구원받지 못한 혼들이 당하는 저세상의 고통을 줄이기 원했다. 왜냐면 그는 어느 존재도 이 땅에서 자신의 힘으로 존재가 하나님을 떠남으로 지은 끔찍한 죄로부터 자신을 해방시킬 수 없음을 알았기 때문이다. 이런 죄를 깨달은 일이 그의 의지가 극도로 활동하게 만들었다. 그는 이 전에 사람이 한번도 수행할 준비가 되어 있지 않았던 역사를 완성했다. 왜냐면 그런 역사에 가장 깊은 사랑이 필요하고, 또한 이전에 어느 사람도 이런 역사를 수행할 능력이 없었기 때문이다. 왜냐면 구원의 역사에 엄청난 의지의 힘이 필요하기 때문이다. 인간 예수는 사랑으로 행한 자신의 역사와 자신의 삶을 통해 의지의 힘을 최대한으로 크게 만들었다.

모든 인류가 이 구속역사에 참여해야 한다. 예수가 한 세대를 위해 죽은 것이 아니라, 구속받지 못한 존재로서 마침내 자유를 얻기 위해, 이 땅의 삶의 과정을 가야만 하는 모든 사람을 위해 죽었다. 그러나 구속사역의 축복을 받을 수 있기 위해서는 자원하여 자신을 구원하려는 의지가 선행되야만 한다. 인간이 모든 존재의 죄짐을 줄이고, 그들에게 구원을 주기 위해 자기 자신을 속죄로 드린, 예수 그리스도를 통해 하나님을 향한 끔찍한 죄를 벗게 된 사람들에게 속하기를 원한다면, 그는 구속의 사역과 하나님의 구세주 예수 그리스도를 인정해야만 한다.

Jesus Christ recognized the greatness of human guilt....

You humans cannot assess the extent of your guilt towards God and therefore the full significance of Christ's act of salvation cannot be made clear to you until you have penetrated spiritual knowledge. And that is why the will to reject is often so strong, because the idea of redemption is not compatible with the feeling of freedom, which is strongly developed in the human being. Thus he does not recognize the bondage of his will as long as he lacks the knowledge about it.... consequently, neither does he recognize the one Who redeemed him from bondage because he does not experience the bound state on earth as torment, since he has free will after all. He does not realize that he would not be able to free himself from this bound state for eternity if Jesus Christ had not accomplished the work of redemption for him through His death on the cross. He does not know about the power of evil, which has great influence on his will as long as he remains on earth, and that, although his will is free, he falls prey to this influence because he himself is too weak to be able to resist it. And he does not know about the consequences, about the dreadful consequences of a failure of this free will.... He does not know that the adversary will put him back in chains for eternity and that he will have to languish in unbearable agony in the beyond if he has to atone for his former injustice against God Himself, for he does not know the extent of his guilt.... But Jesus Christ recognized this as a human being, i.e., through His way of life in love the human being Jesus had penetrated into the deepest knowledge of the original state of all beings, of their immense transgression and its consequences, that He recognized the human being's weak will and his lack of resistance towards the enemy of his soul. And He wanted to help people develop a strong will which would be able to withstand the enemy's temptations and utilize the time of his life on earth for his final liberation from him and his power, i.e. his influence. And in order to purchase this increased willpower for people, He gave His life on the cross. His blood was the purchase price that was to bring people redemption from the greatest adversity, which He probably overlooked in His perfection and therefore wanted to avert from every single person. His immense love wanted to reduce the suffering of the unredeemed souls in the beyond, for He knew that no human being could free himself on earth from the dreadful guilt that the being had brought upon himself through his apostasy from God. The realization of this guilt impelled His will to extreme activity and He accomplished a work which no human being had ever been willing to carry out before because it required profound love and which no human being had ever been able to accomplish before either, for this act of salvation required immense strength of will which the man Jesus brought to its highest development through His activity of love and His way of life. And the whole of humanity was to share in this work of redemption. He died not just for one generation, but for all people who, as unredeemed beings, have to go through life on earth in order to finally become free. But the willingness to be redeemed must precede this in order to be able to share in the blessings of the work of redemption. The human being must recognize the act of salvation as well as the divine redeemer Jesus Christ if he wants to belong to those from whom the dreadful guilt against God was taken away through Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself as atonement in order to reduce the guilt of sin of all beings and to bring them redemption....
