이 땅과 저세상의 죽음의 상태. 활동하지 않는 일.

모든 것이 변하고, 아무것도 있는 그대로 유지가 되지 않는다. 결과적으로 창조물에 포함된 모든 것이 또한 살아 있다. 반면에 생명이 없다고 할 수 있는 상태가 있다. 이런 상태는 영적인 정지 상태이고, 물질주의가 우세한 곳에서 나타난다. 그런 곳에서는 왕성한 세상적인 활동을 볼 수 있지만, 그러나 영적인 활동은 일어나지 않는다. 이런 일의 결과는 혼의 더 이상의 성장이 불가능하게 되는 일이다. 그러므로 혼은 이전과 같은 상태에 머물게 된다.

그러나 활동하지 않는 일은 죽음의 신호이다. 죽은 것은 움직이지 않고, 동시에 생명이 없고, 목적이나 목표가 없는 무가치한 것이다. 그러므로 주의를 받지 못하고 머문다. 그러나 죽은 것을 죽은 존재라고 말할 수 없다. 왜냐하면 하나님의 능력이 창조의 작품에게 흐르는 한, 그 안에 또한 생명의 능력이 있기 때문이다.

그러나 이런 힘이 하나님의 뜻에 따라 사용되지 않을지라도, 하나님은 어떤 존재로부터 힘을 빼앗지 않는다. 그러나 하나님은 영적으로 활동하지 않는 존재로부터 자신의 사랑을 거두어 드린다. 이런 일의 결과는 정지되는 일이고, 하나님의 사랑의 냉각은 영적인 입자를 굳어지게 하는 결과를 가져온다.

이런 운명은 말할 수 없이 슬픈 운명이다. 왜냐하면 단지 끊임없는 활동의 상태가 행복하게 하기 때문이다. 반면에 항상 같은 겉형체 안에 머무는 일은 억눌리게 한다. 존재가 자신의 겉형체를 벗고, 영의 나라에 들어가, 활동할 가능성이 더 이상 없게 될 때, 존재가 자신의 잘못으로 강제로 생명이 없는 상태가 될 때, 그는 더 억눌리게 된다.

존재는 오랫동안 그에게 도움을 줄 수 없는, 이런 상태 가운데 머물 수 있다. 왜냐면 존재가 강팍한 가운데, 이로써 그가 활동이 없는 상태를 해결하기 위해 아무런 일도 하지 않는다면, 그가 어떤 도움도 거부하기 때문이다. 이 땅의 삶에서 존재는 이런 죽음의 상태를 그렇게 느끼지 못하게 될 것이다. 왜냐하면 이 땅의 활동이 그가 영적으로 죽은 상태를 깨닫도록 허용하지 않기 때문이다. 그러므로 그는 죽음의 상태를 벗어나지 못한다. 왜냐면 그에게 의지가 부족하기 때문이다.

존재의 의지가 이 땅에서 이미 묶여 있다면, 그런 묶임은 저 세상에서 더욱 강해지게 된다. 저 세상에서 그에게 모든 면에서 조언을 줄 수 있고, 존재에게 또한 원하려는 힘이 부족하다. 그는 냉담하거나 또는 전적으로 완고하다. 그러나 이 두가지가 다 하나님과의 먼 거리가 나타낸다. 다시 말해 활동하지 않고, 부족한 의지로 나타나는, 묶임을 받은, 자유롭지 못한 상태를 나타낸다. 이런 상태는 생명의 상태와는 달리, 죽음의 상태이고 어두움의 상태이다. 생명의 상태는 영원한 가장 밝은 빛이고, 끊임없는 활동을 의미한다.

State of death on earth and in the afterlife.... inactivity....

Everything changes and nothing remains as it is.... Consequently, everything that creation harbours is also alive. On the other hand, there is a state that can rightly be called lifeless.... This is the spiritual stagnation that can be found where materialism prevails. Although lively earthly activity can be recognized there, spiritual activity is switched off. And the consequence of this is that all spiritual development is impossible, thus the soul remains in the same state it was in before. But inactivity is a sign of death.... What is dead is motionless, it is as it were without any life, it is something worthless that has no purpose or goal and therefore remains unnoticed. However, we cannot speak of a dead being as such, because as long as the power from God flows into a work of creation, the ability to live is also in it. But God does not withdraw this power from any being, even if it does not use it according to divine will. But God withdraws His love from a spiritually inactive being and this results in a standstill, and a cooling of divine love results in the hardening of the spiritual (the spiritual substance?). This fate is unspeakably sad, for only the state of uninterrupted activity is blissful, whereas remaining in the same external form is depressing and even more depressing when the being discards its external form and enters the spiritual kingdom and no longer has the opportunity to be active.... when it is forcibly pushed into a lifeless state through its own fault. The being can remain in this state for eternities without being able to receive help because it is stubborn and rejects all help, thus if it does nothing to end its state of inactivity. In earthly life the being will not feel this dead state because earthly activity does not let it recognize the spiritually dead state. Consequently, it will not be remedied either since the being lacks the will. And if the being's will is already bound on earth, this is even more so in the beyond. There it can be given advice from all sides, the being also lacks the strength to will.... it is apathetic or completely obdurate.... But both characterize the distance from God and therefore the bound, unfree state, which expresses itself in inactivity and lack of will. This is the state of death, of darkness, in contrast to the state of life, which is eternity's brightest light and signifies constant activity....
