하나님의 임재와 힘의 공급. 하나님의 형상.

하나님을 목표로 삼는 모든 일은 선한 일이다. 결과적으로 하나님을 추구하는 사람은 자신을 고귀하게 만들어야만 한다. 왜냐하면 하나님에게 가까이 다가가는 일이 온전하게 되는 데 필요한 모든 일을 이루기 때문이다. 사람은 하나님이 하나님 자신의 가까이에 두기에 합당하게 여기도록 자신을 형성할 것이고, 하나님 가까이에 거하는 일이 다른 한편으로 자신을 항상 더 온전하게 발전시킬 힘이 그에게 흐르게 해줄 것이다.

왜냐면 하나님을 추구하는 사람은, 하느님 가까이로 가기를 원하는 사람은, 또한 사랑 안에서 머물게 될 것이기 때문이다. 그러나 사랑은 또한 그에게 하나님의 사랑이 전해지게 하고, 하나님의 사랑은 다시 사람이 느끼는 힘이고, 사람이 온전하게 되는 일을 쉽게 해준다.

하나님의 사랑의 발산은 힘의 전달이다. 인간이 하나님의 힘을 받기에 합당하게 된다면, 그는 또한 하나님의 뜻대로 자신을 형성할 수 있게 된다. 그러면 그는 더 이상 하나님의 뜻을 어기는 어떤 일도 할 수 없게 된다. 왜냐면 사랑이 그를 그런 일로부터 보호하기 때문이다. 사람은 선하게 되려는 강한 충동을 느낀다. 왜냐면 하나님을 향한 의지가 모든 악한 욕망을 제거하기 때문이다.

왜냐면 사람이 자신의 갈망을 통해 하나님께 접근하는 것과 같은 정도로, 그는 하나님의 대적자로부터 멀어지고, 이전에 악했던 모든 것이 이제 그 안에서 선해져야만 하기 때문이다. 대적자는 더 이상 그런 사람에게 영향을 미치지 못한다. 그러나 하나님은 이제 넘치게 역사한다. 왜냐면 사람의 힘과 은혜가 증가할수록, 그가 하나님과 더 많이 연합하기 때문이다. 하나님의 은혜가 역사하는 곳에서 사람은 거부할 수 없게 정상에 도달해야만 한다. 그는 온전해져야만 하고, 자신을 하나님의 형상으로 만들어야만 한다.

Proximity to God - application of strength.... image of God....

Everything that has God as its goal is good; consequently, the human being, whose endeavour is directed towards God, must also ennoble himself, because drawing closer to God results in everything that is necessary to become perfect.... The human being will shape himself in such a way that God will consider him worthy of His closeness, and in turn the closeness to God will give him the strength to develop ever more perfectly. For he who strives towards God.... who desires to come close to God will also stand in love. But love also conveys the love of God to him, and this in turn is strength that man feels and that makes it easier for him to become perfect. Divine emanation of love is the imparting of strength, and as soon as the human being is honoured by the gift of strength from God, he is also able to shape himself in accordance with divine will. The human being can then no longer do anything that goes against His will, for love protects him from it. The human being feels a strong urge to be good because the will towards God eliminates all evil desire. For to the same extent as man draws closer to God through his desire, he distances himself from God's adversary, and everything that was once evil must now be good in him. The adversary no longer has any influence on such a person. But God now works in abundance, for man increases in strength and grace the more he unites himself with God. And where God's grace is at work, the human being must inevitably reach the heights, he must become perfect and mould himself into the image of God....
