섬기는 일은 자유로워지는 것을 의미하고, 이를 아는 일.

아직 형체 안에서 묶임을 받고 있는 모든 것이 자유를 추구한다. 존재는 강요를 받고, 이 강요를 고통으로 깨닫는다. 하나님이 자유의지를 박탈하면서 존재에게 행하는 강요가 결코 존재에게 결정적인 것이 아니고, 단지 존재 안에 묶임을 받는 바로 이런 상태를 벗어나려는 갈망을 강하게 하는 점에서 도움을 준다. 존재는 이제 전에 거부했던 일을 행하려는 결정을 하고, 섬기려는 자세를 갖는다.

따라서 섬기는 일은 동시에 자유롭게 되는 일을 의미한다. 섬기는 일을 할 올바른 의지가 없는 존재는 또한 족쇄를 견뎌야만 하고, 고통을 당해야만 한다. 따라서 존재는 섬기는 관계에 들어가기를 거부하는 동안에는 존재는 고통의 상태는 피할 수 없다. 따라서 존재는 겸손하게 다른 존재의 고통의 상태를 줄이는 일을 해야만 한다. 다른 존재가 짊어져야 할 무언가를 스스로 짊어져야만 한다. 그렇게 함으로써 존재는 자신을 구원하고 또한 그가 섬기는 존재를 구원하게 된다.

존재가 이제 더 자원하여 섬기는 관계에 들어 갈수록, 하나님은, 최종적으로 그의 모든 의지의 결박을 풀기 위해, 존재가 이제 드디어 더 이상 섬기도록 강요받지 않고, 마지막 형체로부터 자유롭게 되기 위해 자원하여 섬기려는 자유로운 결정을 하도록 하기 위해, 그의 묶인 의지를 느슨하게 한다.

그러나 자원하여 섬기는 일은 또한 섬기는 일의 의미와 목적을 아는 지식을 전제로 한다. 존재에게 이 땅의 삶이 어떤 의미가 있는지를 깨닫게 해줘야만 한다. 존재를 삶의 의미와 목적에 대해 무지한 가운데 남겨 둘 수 없고, 존재가 이 땅에서 하지 않은 일에 대해 책임을 존재에게 묻기 전에, 존재에게 알 만한 가치가 있는 모든 지식을 알려줘야만 한다. 존재가 다시 섬기도록 강요를 받은 가운데 섬긴다면, 그런 섬김은 가치가 없게 될 것이다. 존재에게 섬기거나 또는 이런 섬기는 일을 하지 않을 자유가 주어져야만 한다.

인간으로 육신을 입기 전에, 이 땅의 오랜 과정을 거친 존재는 어느 정도 성숙한 단계에 도달하게 된다. 그러므로 존재에게 하나님의 뜻이 무엇인지 아주 잘 깨달을 수 있는 능력이 있다. 그러나 존재는 스스로 하나님의 뜻을 성취시켜야만 하고, 그가 행하고 생각하도록 강요할 수 없다. 그렇지 않으면 이런 일은 완전한 구원이 되지 못할 것이다. 왜냐하면 그러면 대적자의 의지를 아직 완전히 패배시키지 못했기 때문이다.

사람 안의 신적인 존재는, 대적자가 완전히 패배했을 때, 홀로 다스릴 수 있게 된다. 사람과 대적자 사이에 아주 작은 관계라도 있어서는 안된다. 사람의 갈망이 단지 하나님께 만 향해야 한다. 이런 하나님을 향한 갈망이 사람이 섬기게 한다. 그는 하나님이 원하는 모든 일을 하고, 모든 오만함을 버리고, 자신을 사랑으로 변화시키고, 겸손하게 만든다. 따라서 대적자의 어떤 영향으로부터 자신을 구원한다. 그는 이제 자신을 묶는 모든 형체로부터 완전히 해방이 된다. 왜냐하면 존재가 이제 하나님과 다시 연합이 되기 위해, 되어야만 하는 상태가 되었기 때문이다. 존재는 원래의 상태에 도달했다. 존재는 자신이 원래 초기에 그랬던 것처럼 하나님으로부터 온 빛과 힘이 되었다.

Serving means becoming free.... knowing about it....

Everything that is still bound in form pushes towards liberation. The being is compelled, and it feels the compulsion as torment. However, the compulsion which God exerts on the being by taking away its freedom of will is by no means decisive for the being, but only beneficial insofar as the desire to escape this very banished state becomes strong in it and it now decides to do something it previously refused to do.... that it is ready to serve. So serving also means becoming free. The being that has no real will to do so must also put up with the shackles, it must suffer, and so again the state of suffering cannot be spared the being as long as it refuses to enter into a serving relationship. It must therefore carry out an activity in humility that reduces the state of suffering of another being. It must take upon itself something that the other being should bear; it thereby redeems itself and also the being it serves. The more willingly now the being enters into a serving relationship, the more God loosens the bound will of it, to finally take away every fetter of will from it and to now leave the redemption to it itself, by giving it free decision, that it is therefore no longer forced to serve, but must do this voluntarily, to become free of the last form. Voluntary service, however, also requires knowledge of its meaning and purpose; the being has to be made aware of what earthly life means to it. It cannot be left in ignorance about the meaning and purpose of life, but everything worth knowing must be presented to it before it can be called to account for what it omits to do on earth. It would be of no value if the being were only forced to be of service again, it must be free to serve or also to withdraw from this service. Through the long course on earth before the embodiment as man the being has been shaped in such a way that it is in a certain maturity, therefore has very well the ability to recognize what divine will is. Yet it has to fulfil divine will of its own accord, it cannot be forcibly induced to act and think as a human being, otherwise this would not be a complete redemption, for the will of the opposing power would not yet have been completely defeated. The divine in the human being has only attained sole dominion when the adversary is completely defeated; there must not be the slightest connection between the human being and the adversary, the human being's desire must rather only be for God, and this desire for Him also determines the human being to serve; He does everything God wants, he has given up all arrogance and moulded himself into love and humility, thus he has redeemed himself from all influence of the adversary and is now also completely liberated from every form which binds him, for the being has now become what it has to be in order to unite with God again.... it has reached its original state.... it is what it was from the beginning.... light and power in from God....
