대적자에게 묶인 의지.

사슬로 묶인 존재가 자신의 사슬을 강요로 느끼는 한, 항상 자신을 자유롭게 만들려는 의지를 가지고 있다. 왜냐하면 자신이 실제 목적과 일치하지 않는 상황에 있음을 아직 의식하기 때문이다. 그는 현재 상태가 아닌 다른 상태를 요구한다. 그는 자신을 아직 묶임을 받은 존재로 깨닫고, 자유를 추구한다. 그는 이제 단지 자신의 형편을 개선하려는 충동을 갖게 될 것이다. 다시 말해 그는 자신의 의지를 사용하여 자신을 자유롭게 할 것이다. 반면에 완전히 악의 권세 아래 있는 존재는 그로부터 벗어나려는 갈망이 없다. 그는 자신의 형편을 당연한 것으로 여기고, 자신의 실제 존재목적을 알지 못하고, 그의 의지가 자유롭지 못하고, 어두움의 세력이 명하는 것을 항상 수행한다. 이런 상태는 절망적인 상태이다. 왜냐하면 그가 의지가 묶여 있고, 형편을 전혀 깨닫지 못하지 않는다면, 깨닫기가 어렵기 때문이다.

이 상태에서 사람은 완전히 만족하고, 자신의 이 땅의 목표를 따라 산다. 그는 강요도, 자유가 없음도 느끼지 않고, 자신을 강요하는 세력에 반항해야만 한다는 느낌을 내적으로 가지고 있지 않다. 왜냐하면 이런 세력이 그에게 이 땅의 삶에 전적인 자유를 주고, 세속적인 욕망을 성취하게 하고, 이로써 그에게 변화를 갈망할만 하게 보이지 않게 만드는, 만족한 상태에 빠지게 하기 때문이다. 다시 말해 의지는 묶여 있고, 대적자가 이 의지를 완전히 지배했다. 따라서 그런 혼을 얻기 위한 싸움은 특별하게 어렵다. 왜냐하면 사람의 의지가 하나님께 향해야만 하기 때문이다. 그러면 비로소 하나님으로부터 그에게 도움이 주어질 수 있다. 사람은 항상 자신이 세상적으로 붙잡을 수 있는, 볼 수 있고, 갈망할만하게 보이는 것을 갈망한다.

그러나 하나님을 부인하는 일은 이 땅의 소유를 더 이상 추구하지 않을 때 비로소 느낄 수 있는 순전히 영적인 일이다. 이 땅의 소유를 더 이상 추구하지 않게 하는 일은 사람들의 눈에 띄게 대적자의 권세가 흔들리게 하는 방식으로 달성될 수 있다. 다시 말해, 물질과 소유가 인간에게 파괴될 수 있는 것으로 증명하는 일로, 그가 자신의 심장이 원하는 것이 더 높은 권력가 좋게 여긴다면, 파괴될 수 있음을 깨닫게 하는 일로 달성될 수 있다. 그러므로 자신의 욕망에 대항하고, 그가 세운 것을 파괴할 수 있는 높은 권세가 그에게 증명이 되어야만 한다.

그는 높은 권세가 원초부터 사람들에게 주어진 진정한 목표라는 깨달음에서 높은 권세에게 복종하기를 원해야만 한다. 그러면 비로소 사람의 의지가 대적자의 권세에서 멀어지기 시작하고, 이제 위로부터 도움이 그에게 주어질 것이다.

The will bound by the adversary....

The chained being always has the will to free itself as long as it feels its fetters as compulsion, for then it is still aware that it is in a situation which does not correspond to its actual destiny. It longs for something other than its present state, so it still regocnizes itself as a bound being and strives towards freedom. It will now only have the urge to improve its situation and therefore also use its will to make itself free. Whereas a being that is completely under the control of evil has no desire to free itself from it. It takes its state for granted, it is not aware of its actual destiny, its will is unfree and only ever carries out what the dark power commands it to do. This state is therefore so bleak that it keeps the will bound and makes it difficult, if not impossible, to regocnize the situation. In this state the human being is completely content, he lives his earthly goals, he feels neither compulsion nor lack of freedom, he is not inspired by the feeling of having to rebel against the compelling power, for this leaves him complete freedom in earthly life, fulfils his earthly desires and thus places him in a contented state which makes no change seem worth striving for. Thus the will is bound, the adversary has completely seized it.... And therefore the battle for such souls is extremely difficult. For the human being's will has to turn towards God, only then can help be sent to him from God. And the human being always desires what is obvious and desirable to him.... what he can seize earthly.... Denying God, however, is something purely spiritual and can only be felt when earthly possessions are no longer sought. However, the latter can only be achieved in such a way that the power of the adversary is visibly shaken.... that is, matter, possession, is proven to man as destructible.... that he regocnizes that what his heart longs for can fall prey to destruction if it pleases a higher power. A higher power must therefore be proved to him, a power that is opposed to his desire.... a power that can destroy what he has built up. And he must want to subordinate himself to this higher power out of the realization that it is the true goal that has been set for man from the beginning. Only then will the human being's will begin to wrest itself from the adversary's power, and then he will receive help from above....
