순복하는 의지. 하나님의 영을 깨어나게 하는 일.

네 안에서 역사하는 존재는 너의 의지를 깨닫는다. 영이 자신을 알리기를 원하고, 이런 역사가 저항을 받지 않으려면, 너의 의지가 필요하다. 모든 영은 겉형체를 통과하려고 시도하고, 이 일에 성공하면, 그는 높은 곳을 향해 추구한다. 사람이 영적인 모든 것에 저항할 때, 종종 그를 묶어 두고 있는 겉형체는 사람의 의지이고, 그러면 사람 안의 하나님의 영이 자신을 알리는 일은 말할 수 없게 어려운 일이다. 그러나 의지가 이제 하나님의 영에 순복하면, 모든 저항이 무너지고, 사람의 또는 그의 혼의 더 높은 성장이 보장이 된다. 그러므로 의지가 먼저 순복해야만 한다. 영이 이 의지를 통제할 수 있도록 의지가 약해져야만 하고, 지금까지 의지가 모든 육체적 욕구를 강하게 가지고 있고, 순복하지 않았던 것과 반대로 순복해야만 한다.

그러나 이제 의지의 힘이 유일하게 영적인 것에 적용되어야만 한다. 인간의 의지를 통해 일어나는 모든 일은 그 안에 있는 영의 인도를 받아 일어나야만 한다. 그러면 모든 행동과 모든 생각과 모든 말이 항상 영으로부터 나오게 될 것이고, 모든 육체적 욕망이 뒷자리를 차지할 것이다. 그러므로 인간의 의지는 하나님의 뜻에 종속되었고, 그로 인해 하나님으로부터 온 영이 자유롭게 되어, 영이 엄청난 활동을 하는 성장을 이룰 수 있게 된다. 이런 영의 활동은 가장 다양한 가르치는 일로 확장되어, 이제 여러 가지 방식으로 사람들에게 제공이 된다.

하나님의 영이 사람에게 받아 적게 한 모든 가르침은 구성과 문장들이 신중하게 선택되었고, 내용면에서 가장 순수한 진리임을 보장한다. 어떤 가르침도 계획이 없이, 목적에 합당하지 않게 제공되는 것이 아니고, 신중하게 준비된, 특정한 목적을 위해 제공된다. 한 사람에게는 이상하고 받아드릴 수 없는 것을 다른 사람은 즉시 이해할 수 있다. 이런 일이 일어나는 이유는 하나님의 영적인 선물을 시험하는 사람이 가진 성숙도나 또는 사랑의 정도 때문이다.

이런 일은 다시 설명하기가 아주 쉽다. 사랑하는 사람의 영을 묶고 있는 사슬은 너무 약해서 하나님이 보내준 것이 이런 약한 사슬을 깨뜨릴 수 있고, 따라서 영이 영에게 향하는 길을 찾기 때문이다. 그러므로 절대로 날카로운 지성이 아니라, 심장에서 나오는 선함과 사랑이 영을 가두는 간수를, 의지를 복종시킬 것이다. 선과 사랑이 신적인 것이기 때문에, 의지는 신적인 것에 순복할 것이다. 즉 영을 자유롭게 할 것이다. 해방된 영은 높이 솟아오른다. 영은 이전의 협소함을 떠나, 이제 모든 자유를 가지고 움직인다.

이제부터 영은 활발하게 활동하고, 사람들이 사랑을 행하도록 촉구한다. 왜냐하면 영이 스스로 사랑을 모든 영의 출발점임을 깨닫기 때문이다. 영은 단지 사랑 안에서만 진정으로 살 수 있다. 영이 자신을 표현하는 곳은 이미 사람의 심장 안에 사랑이 뿌리를 두고 있어야만 한다. 그렇지 않으면 생각의 교환이 일어날 수 없기 때문이다. 또한 사람이 생각을 받아드릴 수 없기 때문이다. 왜냐하면 영은 항상 영에게 말해야만 하고, 영은 절대로 사람의 영이 아직 잘못된 의지를 가진 굳은 묶임 속에 있는 사람에게, 즉 영 깨어나지 않은 사람에게 자신을 나타낼 수 없기 때문이다.

그런 사람에게 생각을 통해 전해주는 일은 공허한 소리처럼 그런 사람의 귀를 지나갈 것이다. 그러므로 받을 수 있기 위해 사람의 의지가 먼저 필요하다. 지금까지 세상을 향한 지나치게 강했던 의지가 희생되어야만 한다. 그 대신에 거룩한 하나님과 연결을 추구하려는 거룩한 의지가 강해져야만 한다. 그는 반대하는 모든 것을 억눌러야만 한다. 그는 자신을 하나님의 뜻에 무조건 복종시켜야만 한다. 이로써 영이 활성화될 것이고, 자신에게 축복이 되는 것을 이 땅의 사람들에게 알리게 될 것이다.

Submission of the will.... awakening of the spirit of God....

He who works in you regocnizes your will, and the spirit needs this if it wants to make itself known and no resistance is put up against its work. All spirits try to break through the shell and, once they have succeeded in doing so, they strive to ascend.... Man's will is the shell which often holds him captive when he resists everything spiritual.... And then it is unspeakably difficult for the divine spirit in the human being to make itself felt. But if the will subordinates itself to the divine spirit then all resistance is broken and the higher development of the human being or his soul is guaranteed. And thus the will first has to bend.... the will must become weak and yielding so that the spirit can dominate it, while conversely the will has been strong and unbending in all physical desires until now.... But now the strength of the will must be directed solely towards the spiritual, everything that comes about through the human being's will must only be directed by the spirit in him, and then every action, every thought and every word will only ever testify to the spiritual, and all physical desires will recede into the background. And so the will of man was subordinated to the will of God, the spirit out of him thereby released, so that it can unfold to enormous activity. And this activity of the spirit extends to the most diverse teachings, which are now offered to man in manifold kind. All teachings which the spirit of God dictates to the human being are carefully selected both in their structure and in their wording and guarantee purest truth in terms of content, and nothing is offered haphazardly or inappropriately but carefully prepared and given for a specific purpose. And what seems strange and unacceptable to one person is immediately understandable to another, and this is due to the degree of maturity or love of the one who scrutinizes such divine spiritual gifts. And again, this is so easily explainable as the shackles of the spirit in a loving person are only so weak that divine transmissions can break these weak shackles and thus spirit finds itself in spirit. And so it is never the sharpness of the intellect but the goodness and love of the heart that will subdue the will.... and since goodness and love are divine, the will will bow to the divine and thus liberate the spirit. And a liberated spirit soars.... It leaves the previous narrowness and now moves in all freedom.... Henceforth it is active and inspires the human being to love because it regocnizes love itself as the source of all spiritual.... it is only truly viable in love, and where it expresses itself love must already be rooted in the human being's heart, otherwise a mental exchange cannot take place and the human being would not be receptive to it either, for the spirit must always speak to the spirit, the spirit can never express itself to a person whose spirit is still in the firm bonds of a wrong will, thus unawakened.... The mental transmissions would pass by the ears of such a person like empty sound. And that is why the will of man is first necessary in order to be able to receive.... The will that has hitherto been overly strong in the worldly must be sacrificed and in its place the holy will must become strong, which seeks the connection with divinity.... It must suppress everything opposing and unconditionally submit to the divine will, thus the spirit will also become lively and communicate to the earthly man what is a blessing for him....
