믿으려는 의지.... 선한 영의 세력의 역사....

믿음으로 인내하는 일은 혼에게 말할 수 없게 기쁜 일이다. 혼이 하나님의 권능과 은혜의 축복을 자비롭게 경험하면, 혼은 행복한 느낌을 갖고, 더 높게 성장하는 일이 혼에게 쉬워진다. 사람이 단지 깊은 믿음을 가지고 혼에게 유익한 모든 일을 행할 때, 혼이 비로소 구원을 받을 수 있다. 왜냐하면 믿음이 뒤에 사랑이 뒤따르기 때문이다. 사랑에 빠진 사람은 일하기를 원한다. 사랑의 역사는 다시 힘을 키우고 하나님의 가까이로 인도한다. 혼은 점차적으로 자신의 묶임에서 풀려나고, 자신 안의 하나님으로부터 온 영과 연합한다. 왜냐하면 혼이 이전에 자신을 사로잡았던 욕망에서 분리될 때, 모든 성장이 이뤄질 수 있기 때문이다. 혼이 하나님과 함께 하는 일 외에는 아무것도 구하지 않는다면, 혼에게 모든 노력이 쉬워질 것이고, 혼은 확실하게 목표에 도달할 것이다.

사람은 이제 참된 믿음을 갖기 위해 모든 잘못된 가르침이나 미신에서 벗어나야만 한다. 그는 이성적으로 부정할 수 없는 가장 높은 존재에게 자신을 의탁하고 이 존재에게 영적인 설명을 요청해야만 한다. 그러면 이미 올바른 믿음이 매력이 있는 형태로 그에게 제공이 될 것이다. 왜냐하면 사람이 원하면, 그가 자유의지로 가장 높은 존재에게 구하며 향하자 마자, 그는 이미 올바른 길에 있기 때문이다. 단지 전적으로 믿음이 없고, 아무것도 인정하기를 원하지 않고, 자신의 주위의 생명과 자신의 내면의 생명을 무관심하게 바라보고 받아들이는 사람의 심장은 아주 굳어 있고, 믿음에 쉽게 다가 가지 못한다. 그에게 또한 그리스도의 신앙과 가르침이 알려질 것이다. 그러나 그는 모든 것을 거부하고 교만하게 스스로 알고 있고 깨닫고 있다고 생각할 것이고, 다른 사람은 그를 비웃을 것이다. 주님이 그런 사람들에게 보내는 깊은 고난이 그들에게 다른 것을 가르치지 못한다면, 그런 혼은 매우 불쌍하게 될 것이고, 보호를 맡은 선한 영의 존재의 모든 노력은 헛되게 될 것이다.

이런 불신앙 속에 머무는 혼들을 얻기 위한 비할 데 없는 투쟁이 있다. 그들을 맹목적인 생각에서 설득하기 위해 최악의 수단이 사용되어야만 한다. 반면에 믿는 이 땅의 사람은 저 세상에 말할 수 없는 기쁨을 주고, 선한 영이 자신들에게 맡겨진 혼에게 더 큰 사랑을 행하도록 자극한다. 이 땅의 가장 작은 응답이 인간의 생각의 과정에 영향을 미치기 위해 사용이 된다. 이로써 신앙이 없는 사람조차도 가장 해결되지 않은 문제에 대해 생각하도록 유도되는 경우가 많다. 그들이 실제 모든 것을 거부할 수 있지만 그들이 더 이상 길을 찾을 수 없는 영역으로 그들을 이끄는 생각을 항상 거부할 수 없고, 이런 고민은 비록 이 고민이 진리와는 거리가 멀지라도 항상 가치가 있다.

사람이 아직 세상에 아주 빠져 있을지라도 세상의 모든 것이 그 자신을 더 이상 그를 유혹할 수 없는 때가, 그가 시작과 끝을 생각하는 때가, 그가 자신의 죽음을 생각한다면, 작은 불안을 느끼는 때가 온다. 인생의 어떤 것도 그를 바꿀 수 없다면, 죽음을 향한 생각이 그의 경직된 마음을 흔들리게 할 것이다. 비록 이런 일이 기쁨이 되지 않게 일어나지만, 이에 기초해서 그를 돌보는 영의 세력이 발전시켜 나갈 수 있다. 자신 안의 경고에 굴복하는 사람들에게 복이 있다. 그의 마지막 날에 자신을 믿음으로 이끌 수 있는 모든 일에 관심을 갖고, 이 땅에서 사는 동안 놓친 일을 진지하게 후회하고, 하나님께 그의 도움과 그의 자비를 구하는 사람에게 복이 있다. 아버지는 마지막 순간에 사랑이 충만하게 그에게 다가가 그를 축복할 것이다. 그의 투쟁은 앞으로 더 쉽게 될 것이다.

Willingness to believe.... influence of the good forces of the spirit....

Perseverance in faith is unspeakably blissful for the soul. It gives it a feeling of well-being, as it beneficially experiences the blessings of divine strength and grace and the ascent to higher regions becomes easier as a result. And so a soul can only be redeemed if the human being, in profound faith, accomplishes everything that is beneficial to the soul. For faith is followed by love.... and in love the human being then seeks affirmation.... and works of love again increase the strength, attract the closeness of God, and the soul gradually releases itself from its bonds and unites with the spirit from God within it. For all progress can only take place when the soul separates itself from the desire that has hitherto bound it.... when it desires nothing other than to be with God, then every endeavour will be easy for it and will certainly lead to the goal. In order to come into possession of complete faith, man must free himself from all false doctrine, from superstition.... He must try to entrust himself to the supreme being, Whom he cannot intellectually deny, and ask this being for spiritual enlightenment.... Then the right faith will already be offered to him in a palatable form, for if the human being wants to, then he is already on the right path as soon as he freely turns to the supreme being in supplication. Only someone who is so completely without faith that he does not want to recognize anything and looks at and accepts life around and within himself with indifference, his heart is very hardened and will not come closer to faith so easily. He too will be told about the faith and the teaching of Christ, but he will reject everything and arrogantly consider himself to be knowledgeable and recognizing, while laughing at others. If such people are not taught otherwise by the deep suffering sent to them by the lord, then it looks very sad for such a soul and all endeavours of the good spiritual beings, whose protection they are entrusted with, are in vain.... It is an unparalleled struggle for such souls who persist in faithlessness, and the most extreme means must be used to dissuade them from their deluded thinking, whereas a believing earthly human being triggers indescribable joy in the kingdom of the beyond and inspires the good spirits to ever greater activity of love towards the souls entrusted to them. The slightest concession on earth will be used to influence a person's train of thought, and thus even unbelieving people will often feel prompted to think about the most unsolved problems. They certainly reject everything but they cannot always resist their thoughts, which often lead people into areas where they themselves cannot find their way, and such musings are always of value even if they are still far removed from the truth. And no matter how devoted a person is to the world.... there come hours when even all earthly things cannot entice him.... where he thinks about the beginning and the end.... where a quiet restlessness creeps over him when he thinks of his demise. If nothing in life could change him, then the thought of death will shake him out of his mental torpor, albeit in a less than pleasant way, but it can then be built upon by the spiritual forces that care for him. And blessed is he who follows the admonitions within him.... who, even at the end of his days, deals with everything that can lead him to faith and who seriously repents in earthly life of what he has neglected and asks God for His help and mercy. The father will lovingly meet him in the last hour and bless him.... and his struggle in the afterlife will be an easier one....
