God's references to the transience of earthly goods....

The transitoriness of the earthly-material must first be made comprehensible to the human being before he turns to that which is imperishable. Earthly life fills his thoughts because it confronts him with tasks and the fulfilment of duties which will always occupy his thoughts.... And he would be insatiable if everything lasted, because then he would be able to constantly increase his possessions and there would then be no limit to his desires and cravings.... But since matter is transient, he is thereby constantly forced to be active in order to achieve these goods, which can indeed also take up all his thinking but also leaves open the possibility that transience teaches him to think differently.... that it can seem useless to him to use all his vitality only for these goods.... that he has a desire for goods which are imperishable. Only the realization of the worthlessness of earthly possessions can cause him to strive for spiritual possessions.... or else to chase ever more after the transient because it has no permanence.... And even if earthly possessions remain with the human being and he can constantly increase them without them being taken away from him, the thought of death is always a reminder to him that he should detach himself early from that which he nevertheless loses through death.... So everything in life is arranged by God in such a way that the human being can very easily learn to despise the world and its goods and mentally enter another world.... But his thoughts and will are not necessarily directed towards this other world.... man is free to choose which world he allows himself to be captivated by.... And earthly goods will mostly exert a greater attraction because they are tangible and visible, whereas spiritual goods leave little impression because they are supposedly of too little value.... and will only have value for people if they are able to easily detach themselves from earthly goods. If every person were to consider that the very next day could be his last, then all earthly goods and their acquisition would seem completely pointless to him and he would make somewhat more provision for the time after.... But they reject every thought of death as 'still premature' and only enjoy the earthly world and its goods. That is why the closer the end is, the more death is brought before people's eyes.... People are torn out of the midst of life in order to repeatedly point out the transience to their fellow human beings, in order to repeatedly turn their thoughts towards their own demise.... It is so obviously shown how little security each individual may have with regard to his own life.... and again and again possessions are destroyed, earthly goods fall victim to the various catastrophes.... People are always and everywhere pointed to the real, permanent life which everyone can attain if he seriously wants to.... if he strives for spiritual goods which even death cannot take away from him, which will follow him into the kingdom of the beyond when the hour of his passing has come.... Every person should strive for spiritual treasures, then even death will not frighten him; then he will also have become victorious over death, because eternal life awaits him in the spiritual kingdom, which will make him unspeakably happy and last for all eternity....

A transitoriedade do material terreno deve primeiro ser tornada compreensível para o ser humano antes de ele se voltar para aquilo que é imperecível. A vida terrestre enche os seus pensamentos porque o confronta com tarefas e o cumprimento de deveres que sempre ocuparão os seus pensamentos.... E ele seria insaciável se tudo durasse, porque então ele seria capaz de aumentar constantemente os seus bens e não haveria então nenhum limite para os seus desejos e desejos.... Mas uma vez que a matéria é transitória, ele é assim constantemente obrigado a ser activo para alcançar estes bens...., o que pode, de facto, também retomar todo o seu pensamento mas também deixa em aberto a possibilidade de que a transitória o ensine a pensar de forma diferente.... que lhe pode parecer inútil usar toda a sua vitalidade apenas para estes bens.... que ele tem um desejo de bens que são imperecíveis. Só a realização da inutilidade dos bens terrenos pode levá-lo a lutar pelos bens espirituais.... ou então a perseguir cada vez mais após o transitório porque não tem permanência.... E mesmo que os bens terrenos permaneçam com o ser humano e ele possa aumentá-los constantemente sem que lhe sejam retirados, o pensamento da morte é sempre um lembrete para ele de que se deve separar cedo daquilo que, no entanto, perde através da morte.... Assim, tudo na vida é organizado por Deus de tal forma que o ser humano pode muito facilmente aprender a desprezar o mundo e os seus bens e entrar mentalmente noutro mundo.... Mas os seus pensamentos e vontade não são necessariamente dirigidos para este outro mundo.... o homem é livre de escolher que mundo se deixa cativar por.... E os bens terrenos exercerão sobretudo uma maior atracção porque são tangíveis e visíveis, enquanto os bens espirituais deixam pouca impressão porque são supostamente de pouco valor.... e só terá valor para as pessoas se elas forem capazes de se separarem facilmente dos bens terrenos. Se cada pessoa considerasse que o dia seguinte poderia ser o seu último, então todos os bens terrenos e a sua aquisição lhe pareceriam completamente inúteis e ele faria um pouco mais de provisões para o tempo a seguir a.... Mas rejeitam qualquer pensamento de morte como 'ainda prematuro' e só desfrutam do mundo terreno e dos seus bens. É por isso que quanto mais perto está o fim, mais a morte é trazida aos olhos das pessoas..... As pessoas são arrancadas do meio da vida a fim de apontar repetidamente a transição para os seus semelhantes, a fim de voltarem repetidamente os seus pensamentos para a sua própria morte.... É tão obviamente demonstrado como cada indivíduo pode ter pouca segurança em relação à sua própria vida.... e, uma e outra vez, os bens terrenos são destruídos, os bens terrenos são vítimas das várias catástrofes.... As pessoas são sempre e em todo o lado apontadas para a vida real e permanente que todos podem alcançar se quiserem seriamente.... se se esforçar por bens espirituais que até a morte não lhe pode tirar, que o seguirão para o reino do além quando chegar a hora da sua passagem.... Cada pessoa deve lutar por tesouros espirituais, então nem a morte o assustará; então também se terá tornado vitorioso sobre a morte, porque a vida eterna o espera no reino espiritual, o que o fará indizívelmente feliz e durará toda a eternidade...._>Ámen
