Wide Street.... temptations.... narrow way to the height....

The road along which most people walk is wide and level, and it leads through beautiful gardens which are walked through with pleasure, it constantly offers variety and will always entice people to linger and savour what seems appealing to the walker.... And he will never need to walk along alone, there will always be people in his company who walk the same path with the same joys and the same hopes as him, because they all only seek worldly pleasures and enjoyments, because they all succumb to the same temptations and therefore one always has understanding for the other's goings-on.... It is the broad road that is trodden by countless people, which only a few avoid in order to walk narrow paths that lead upwards.... These know that the narrow path leads towards another aim, and in the knowledge of this aim they therefore avoid the broad road, which.... unnoticed by people.... and therefore cannot be the right path to the heights. Again and again narrow side roads branch off from the broad road, and messengers will always stand along these roads and offer to guide those who want to leave the broad road and earnestly strive upwards. Only a few will follow their offer, only a few will be able to separate themselves from the broad road of pleasure and lust.... Only a few will respect those who offer themselves to them for guidance.... For wherever a narrow path branches off to the heights, there the broad road offers special pleasures.... there flash so many dazzling lights that the narrow path is overlooked and all strive only towards these lights which lead them ever more astray. This wide road is laid out by the lord of the world, who always sees to it that it does not become dull and boring for its passers-by, and who especially uses all the arts of seduction where the narrow paths branch off upwards. Then the eye remains spellbound, and the person very easily overlooks the side path and falls victim to those arts of seduction. But there are also people who turn away from all these temptations of the world because they recognize their unworthiness and because they pursue a different aim.... to reach God, Who can never be reached by the broad way. And these seek diversions from the broad road, and they gladly and willingly entrust themselves to those who want to lead them upwards. And they also endeavour to entice other people onto the narrow path and hold the right aim up to them and induce them to join them on the path to ascent.... And they will all reach their aim.... They may give up many earthly things, but they receive far more valuable things.... they take possession of the kingdom which offers far more glorious things, but which can only be reached through constant overcoming, but not through earthly pleasures, through worldly enjoyment....

Wide Street.... Temptations.... Via Estreita para as Alturas....

O caminho ao longo do qual a maioria das pessoas caminha é largo e nivelado, e conduz através de belos jardins que são percorridos com prazer, oferece constantemente variedade e irá sempre seduzir as pessoas a permanecer e saborear o que parece delicioso para o caminhante.... E ele nunca precisará de caminhar sozinho, haverá sempre pessoas na sua companhia que trilham o mesmo caminho com as mesmas alegrias e as mesmas esperanças que ele, porque todos eles só procuram prazeres e prazeres mundanos, porque todos eles sucumbem às mesmas tentações e, por isso, um tem sempre compreensão para os outros - on.... É a estrada larga que é percorrida por inúmeras pessoas, que apenas algumas evitam para percorrer caminhos estreitos que conduzem para cima.... Estes sabem que o caminho estreito conduz a outro objectivo, e no conhecimento deste objectivo evitam, portanto, o caminho largo, que.... desapercebido pelas pessoas.... e portanto não pode ser o caminho certo para as alturas. Uma e outra vez as estradas laterais estreitas ramificam-se da estrada larga, e os mensageiros estarão sempre ao longo destas estradas e oferecer-se-ão para guiar aqueles que querem deixar a estrada larga e esforçar-se seriamente para cima. Apenas alguns seguirão a sua oferta, apenas alguns poderão separar-se do amplo caminho do prazer e da luxúria.... Apenas alguns respeitarão aqueles que se oferecem a eles para orientação.... Pois onde quer que um caminho estreito se ramifique para as alturas, lá a estrada larga oferece prazeres especiais.... lá piscam tantas luzes deslumbrantes que o caminho estreito é ignorado e todos se esforçam apenas por estas luzes que os levam cada vez mais desviados. Este largo caminho é traçado pelo Senhor do Mundo, que vela sempre para que não se torne aborrecido e aborrecido para os seus transeuntes, e que utiliza especialmente todas as artes da sedução onde os estreitos caminhos se ramificam para cima. Depois o olho permanece enfeitiçado, e a pessoa ignora muito facilmente o caminho lateral e cai vítima dessas artes de sedução. Mas também há pessoas que se afastam de todas estas tentações do mundo porque reconhecem a sua indignidade e porque perseguem um objectivo diferente.... Para chegar a Deus, que nunca pode ser alcançado pela via ampla. E estes procuram desviar-se do caminho largo, e de bom grado e de boa vontade confiam-se àqueles que os querem conduzir para cima. E também se esforçam por atrair outras pessoas para o caminho estreito e manter o objectivo certo até elas e induzi-las a juntarem-se a elas no caminho para a ascensão.... E todos eles atingirão o seu objectivo.... Podem desistir de muitas coisas terrenas, mas recebem coisas muito mais valiosas.... tomam posse do reino que oferece coisas muito mais gloriosas, mas que só podem ser alcançadas através da constante superação, mas não através dos prazeres terrenos, através do gozo mundano...._>Ámen
