Dulling the inner voice by rejecting the spirit....

You should not resist the spirit if it wants to express itself.... and it wants to speak if you are inwardly urged to entertain spiritual thoughts, if your thoughts keep occupying themselves with that which does not concern your body but the soul.... if you have to think of death, of a continuation of life after death, of God, of your responsibility towards Him, of your own shortcomings, of mistakes and weaknesses, which you yourselves experience as such and which cause you to feel inwardly dissatisfied and anxious. All these are expressions of the spirit in you which would like its voice to be heard, which demands your attention regarding all these things, as they alone are of importance for eternity.... All these thoughts don't deal with the earthly world but point to the spiritual kingdom, and these thoughts ought to be heeded, for they don't arise in the human being for no reason. They are gentle admonitions and warnings, it is the inner voice which is just not recognised by a person as a voice and which tells him the same, that the person should take stock of himself and not live indifferently, that he should not merely live an earthly life because he thereby causes indescribable damage to his soul. The admonisher within the person will not keep silent but very often will be ignored, for the voice from outside is louder and drowns out the inner voice if a person is too worldly minded. Then he will become insensitive to the subtle voice which sounds in him, he will only have eyes and ears for the world and be in great danger of entirely losing the ability to hear this voice.... thereby losing all faith and no longer being capable of contemplating spiritual thoughts.

Every person, even a worldly person in the midst of life, has moments of calm when he can take stock of himself if he wants.... Every person will occasionally be drawn into conversations pertaining to spiritual problems; in every person the spirit, which is part of God, tries to express itself.... For God touches all people, and He does so time and time again, because He wants to divert them from purely earthly matters towards spiritual ones. Yet anyone who resists the spirit, who pushes all thoughts away, who remains unreceptive to all inward instructions, prevents the working of the inner spirit at his own peril. For he loses all contact with the Divine, he himself destroys the bridge.... he remains on earth and will never be able to enter spiritual spheres even when his earthly life has ended.... For his soul is so materialistically inclined that it will be unable to leave the earthly sphere.... it is hardened just like matter, which occupied its sole thoughts and intentions in earthly life.... And for this soul the path will be an infinitely long one before it reaches the sphere of the spirit.... for it is considerably more arduous to travel than on earth....

Abafar a voz interior resistindo à mente....

Não deve resistir ao espírito que está dentro de si se ele quiser exprimir-se.... e quer exprimir-se se for instado interiormente a pensar pensamentos espirituais, assim como os seus pensamentos estão constantemente preocupados com aquilo que não diz respeito ao seu corpo mas à alma.... assim como tendes de pensar na morte, na continuação da vida após a morte, em Deus, numa responsabilidade perante Ele, na vossa própria inadequação, nas faltas e fraquezas que vós próprios sentis como tal e que vos fazem sentir interiormente insatisfeitos e ansiosos. Tudo isto são expressões do espírito dentro de si que quer penetrar com a sua voz, o que exige a sua atenção para todas estas coisas que só por si são importantes para a eternidade.... Todos estes são pensamentos que não se preocupam com o mundo terreno, mas apontam para o reino espiritual, e tais pensamentos devem ser atendidos porque não surgem no ser humano para nada. São admoestações e avisos silenciosos, é a voz interior que só não é reconhecível pelo ser humano como uma voz e que lhe diz o mesmo, que o ser humano deve reflectir sobre si mesmo e não viver indiferentemente, que não deve levar uma vida puramente terrena, porque assim causará à sua alma um dano inconcebível. O admoestador no ser humano não é silencioso, mas é muito frequentemente ouvido, porque a voz do exterior é mais alta e afoga a voz interior quando os sentidos do ser humano estão demasiado virados para o mundo. Depois entorpece-se contra a voz subtil que soa dentro dele, apenas abre os seus olhos e ouvidos ao mundo, e depois corre o grande perigo de perder completamente a capacidade de ouvir aquela voz.... que perde toda a fé e já não é capaz de pensar espiritualmente. Todo o ser humano, mesmo o homem mundano no meio da vida, tem minutos tranquilos quando pode reflectir sobre si próprio se quiser.... Cada pessoa é por vezes arrastada para conversas que tocam em problemas espirituais; em cada pessoa o espírito procura expressar-se, o que faz parte de Deus.... Porque Deus toca todas as pessoas, uma e outra vez, porque Ele quer afastá-las do puramente terreno e em direcção ao espiritual. No entanto, qualquer pessoa que rejeite o espírito dentro de si, que afaste todos os pensamentos que o tocam, que se feche a todas as instruções a partir de dentro, impede o espírito dentro de si de trabalhar em seu próprio prejuízo. Pois ele perde todas as ligações com o divino, ele próprio rompe todas as pontes.... ele permanece na terra e nunca poderá entrar nas esferas espirituais, mesmo quando a sua vida terrena estiver ultrapassada.... Pois a sua alma está tão materialmente sintonizada que não pode deixar a esfera terrestre.... é endurecida como a matéria, que era o seu desejo e aspiração na vida terrestre.... E para esta alma o caminho é infinitamente longo antes de poder alcançar a esfera do espírito.... pois é muito mais difícil de percorrer do que na terra...._>Ámen
