Characteristic of the church of Christ: The working of the spirit....

The church of Christ is not an organisation, it is the unification of all spiritually striving people from all denominations who believe in Jesus Christ and live a life of love, for not the creed provides the evidence of their belonging to the said church but the spirit which speaks through the people who are its members. Surely you will understand that it can never ever be enough for God that a person joins this or that school of thought, either because of its name or also due to being impressed by the customs and traditions which every organisation and denomination exhibit, but that God only evaluates a person's attitude which can vary in every denomination, i.e., more or less corresponding to God's will, more or less heeding the divine commandments. And yet, the only decisive factor as to who may count himself a member of the church of Christ is whether a life of love has awakened God's spirit within the human being.... The church of Christ is a purely spiritual organisation which makes no concessions to the world whatsoever; it is only based on a human being's spiritual life, on the conscious will to attain the spiritual goal which is the human being's task on earth. The church of Christ unites all believing, that is, inwardly convinced followers of Jesus who accept the divine teaching of love as their law of life, who acknowledge Christ's act of Salvation and through conscious unity with Him know no other endeavour but to develop the strength of the spirit.... who thus are enlightened by the divine spirit, which will always be the evidence of belonging to His church.

The church of Christ needs no other external characteristic in order to be recognised as His true church, which He Himself founded on earth, apart from the spiritual rebirth, which is verified by the expression of the divine spirit in the human being. And this, in turn, is recognisable through enlightened thinking, through the realisation of truth, through realising the purpose of the human being's life, through strong faith and its resulting extraordinary working, be it by healing the sick, by averting great earthly adversity, by the influx of the divine Word or the commanding of the elements for the benefit of other people. A power, which is of divine origin, will always emerge once the human being has achieved spiritual rebirth, and he will belong to the church of Christ, which is outside of every ecclesiastical organisation but which can number people from every denomination as its members. It is a spiritual community of profoundly devout people whose leader is Jesus Christ Himself, with whom every member must enter into heartfelt contact in order to be admitted to His church. For His church is something that is alive, it is not a dead structure which exists in the world by name yet lacks all spirit. His church is based on living faith which was brought alive through love.... This is why love and faith are the first condition in order to belong to His church, why people from all denominations belong to His church, whose living faith arose from their love for God and their neighbour. All these people are being united by Jesus Christ in the church He established on earth, and He also bestows them with the gifts of the spirit depending on their maturity, ability and purpose of activity on earth for His kingdom. Wherever God's spirit is working there stands a pillar of His church which is and will remain insurmountable for all eternity....

El símbolo de la Iglesia de Cristo: El obrar del Espíritu

La Iglesia de Cristo no es una organización, ella es la unión de todos los aspirantes espirituales, los creyentes en Jesucristo y Su Obra redentora y los hombres en el amor vivo de cada religión, pues no la religión demuestra su pertenencia a esa Iglesia, sino el espíritu que habla del hombre y dice a la que pertenece. Eso os tiene que ser comprensible también, que a Dios nunca puede serle satisfactorio, si un hombre se asocia a esta o aquella dirección religiosa, según el nombre o también impresionado por costumbres y ritos, como los demuestran cada organización en particular, sino que Dios sólo avalora el carácter de un hombre y que éste, pues, en cada religión puede de todos modos estar, es decir correspondiente a la Voluntad de Dios, observando los mandamientos divinos.

Y sin embargo, es esto unicamente lo decisivo, de quien puede contarse en la Iglesia de Cristo: si por causa de una vida en el amor, ha sido despertado también el Espíritu de Dios en los hombres. La Iglesia de Cristo es una organización meramente espiritual, la que no hace ninguna clase de concesiones al mundo, la cual solamente se basa en la vida del alma de un hombre, en la voluntad consciente de alcanzar la meta espiritual, la cual les ha sido puesta a los hombres en la tierra.

La Iglesia de Cristo reune a todos los fieles, es decir a todos los adictos, que están interiormente convencidos de Jesús, los que se han hecho y hacen la Doctrina divina del amor como ley de vida, los que reconocen la Obra redentora de Cristo y no conocen ninguna otra ambición más, que por medio de consciente unión con Él, desplegar la Fuerza del Espíritu, los que están por lo tanto iluminados por el Espíritu divino, lo cual está siempre en vigor como prueba de la pertenencia a Su Iglesia.

La Iglesia de Cristo no necesita de ninguna otra señal o distintivo hacia fuera, para que sea conocida como Su Iglesia verdadera que Él Mismo fundó en la tierra, más que sólo el renacimiento espiritual, el cual está demostrado a través de la manifestación del Espíritu divino en los hombres. Y ese es reconocible otra vez por el pensamiento iluminado, por el conocer de la Verdad, por el conocer la finalidad de la vida de los hombres, por la firmeza de fe y de lo que de ahí resulta el actuar poco común, ya sea en la curación de enfermos, en el apartar de la mayor desgracia terrenal, en la afluencia de la Palabra divina o mandar a los elementos de la naturaleza en provecho del prójimo.

Siempre aflorará una fuerza entonces que es de origen divino, si el hombre ha llegado al renacimiento espiritual, y eso pertenece también a la Iglesia de Cristo, la cual está fuera de toda organización eclesiástica, pero en la que pueden ser contados como sus miembros hombres de cada religión. Ella es una comunidad espiritual de todos los hombres profundamente fieles, y su jefe es Jesucristo Mismo, con quien cada miembro tiene que entrar en íntima y cariñosa relación, para que sea admitido en Su Iglesia.

Porque Su Iglesia es algo vivo, ella no es ninguna forma muerta, la cual de nombre existe ante el mundo, pero la que en sí no tiene Espíritu. Su Iglesia está edificada sobre la viva fe, la que por el amor fue despertada a la vida. Por lo que el amor y la fe es la primera condición, para pertenecer a esta Su Iglesia, por lo que en cada religión también pertenecen los hombres a Su Iglesia si están en una fe viva, la cual ha nacido del amor a Dios y al prójimo.

A todos esos hombres reune Jesucristo en Su Iglesia fundada por Él en la tierra, y Él los marca también con los dones del espíritu, según la madurez, capacidad y destino de su actividad en la tierra para Su Reino. Siempre donde actúe el Espíritu de Dios, allí se halla un pilar de Su Iglesia, la cual es invencible y seguirá siendo hasta por toda la eternidad.
