Free will decision.... church organisation....

The human being's decision of will has to be made by himself, i.e. the human being's will cannot be directed by either good or evil forces but he can only be influenced by both sides to decide in one direction. And therefore the transmission of God’s word, of Christ's teaching, can only ever be regarded as an influence on a person, for it is up to him to decide whether to accept or reject it. And thus every ecclesiastical organisation can only ever be regarded as a means to guide the human will in the right direction; but it can never claim to be the aim of right thinking and will.... thus the purpose can certainly be achieved through membership of such an organisation but membership is never already evidence of a correctly directed will, which is why human striving has to start in every religious community itself to give the will the right direction. For the human being can fulfil all requirements imposed on him by an ecclesiastical organisation, but this can be education and habit where his own will is still switched off. It can be an outward observance of Christ's teaching, a fulfilment of duties which lack deep love, even though they are carried out out of obedience to the church. A right decision of the will demands a mental immersion in spiritual questions and only then a conscious opinion on them. Blind obedience, on the other hand, is not a decision of the will, it is rather a shutting out of free will and therefore cannot bring about any spiritual success. And therefore people are often forced to take a stand insofar as they are led into doubt by God's love as to the truth of what is presented to them. Again and again the word of God is brought to them so that they shall find contradictions between what Jesus Christ taught on earth and what an ecclesiastical organisation sometimes represents.... so that the contradictions will stimulate them to think and thus the activity of the will will lead to a free decision. For time on earth should not pass by unused, which, however, is the case when a person leaves spiritual knowledge unexamined, when he has been pushed into a school of thought and does not make any effort to examine it for its truth. No one can lay claim to unconditional attainment of aims by belonging to a church organization, his will must first have become active itself by mentally dealing with everything he is taught and again demanded of him.... And the word of God will always be his guide, he will learn to distinguish the voice of God from the voice of the world, he will be able to judge God's work and additional human work and then also decide correctly, as is his task on earth....

의지의 자유 선택. 교회 조직.

인간은 스스로 의지의 결정을 해야만 한다. 즉 인간의 의지는 선이나 악을 향하도록 정해질 수 없고, 단지 양측의 영향을 받아, 한 방향을 정할 수 있다. 그러므로 그리스도의 가르침인 하나님의 말씀의 전달은 항상 단지 사람에게 영향을 주는 일로 간주해야 한다. 왜냐면 받아드릴 것인지, 거부할지를 결정하는 일은 그 자신에게 달려 있기 때문이다.

그러므로 모든 교회 조직은 단지 인간의 의지를 올바른 방향으로 인도하는 수단으로 여길 수 있다. 때문에 모든 교회 조직이, 교회 조직의 회원 자격을 통해 실제 달성할 수 있는, 올바른 생각과 의지의 목표라고 절대로 주장할 수 없고, 교회 조직의 회원 자격이 올바르게 인도받은 의지를 가졌다는 증거가 절대로 아니다. 그러므로 모든 종교적인 공동체는 의지를 바른 방향을 향하도록 스스로 노력해야만 한다. 왜냐면 사람은 교회 조직이 그에게 부여하는 모든 요구 사항을 충족시킬 수 있지만, 그런 일이 자신의 의지가 개입되지 않은 양육과 습관이 결과일 수 있고, 그런 일이 그리스도의 가르침을 외적으로 준수하는 일이 될 수 있고, 비록 사람들이 교회에 순종하면서 수행했을지라도, 깊은 사랑이 없는 의무를 완수하는 일일 수 있기 때문이다.

의지의 올바른 결정은 영적인 질문에 대해 깊게 생각하는 일을 요구하고, 그런 후 비로소 질문에 대한 의식적으로 입장을 정하는 일을 요구한다. 반면 맹목적인 순종은 의지의 결정이 아니고, 오히려 자유 의지를 제한하는 일이다. 그러므로 영적인 성공을 거둘 수 없다. 사람들이 그들에게 제시된 것이 진리인지에 대해 의심이 드는 동안에는, 사람들은 하나님의 사랑에 의해 자주 그에 대한 입장을 취하도록 강요를 받는다. 하나님의 말씀이 사람들에게 항상 또 다시 전해질 것이다. 이로써 사람들이 예수 그리스도가 이 땅에서 가르친 것과 교회 조직이 가르치는 것 사이에 모순을 찾게 하고, 그들이 모순에 대해 생각하도록 자극하고, 이로써 자유로운 결정을 위해 의지를 행동으로 옮기도록 자극한다.

왜냐면 사람은 이 땅의 시간을 활용하지 않고 보내서는 안 되기 때문이다. 그러나 사람이 영적인 내용을 점검하지 않는다면, 그가 한 영적인 방향으로 강요를 받고, 스스로 그 방향이 진리인지 시험하는 일을 하지 않는다면, 그가 이 땅의 시간을 활용하지 않은 것이다. 어느 누구도 교회 조직에 속함으로써 무조건적으로 목표를 달성했다고 주장할 수 없다. 그의 의지가 먼저, 자신이 가르침 받고, 다시 요구받는 모든 것을 생각을 통해 점검해보면서, 스스로 일해야만 한다. 그러면 하나님의 말씀은 항상 그의 안내자가 될 것이고, 그는 하나님의 음성과 세상의 음성을 구별하는 법을 배울 것이고, 하나님의 역사와 추가적인 인간의 역사를 판단할 수 있게 될 것이다. 그러면 그는 또한 그의 이 땅의 과제대로 올바른 결정을 할 수 있게 될 것이다.
