Spiritual distress.... sorrow and tribulation....

People do not yet realize where they are drifting to, for their thoughts are too focused on earthly events to pay attention to their spiritual state. They fear for their earthly life and for the loss of earthly possessions. But they are indifferent to the salvation of their souls because they deny it and do not allow themselves to be instructed. Nor will the divine intervention teach them to think differently, for they will also try to explain it in earthly terms and never accept their lack of faith as an indirect cause. And this is why the adversity on earth has assumed such proportions, there is no human being who does not feel it, and the believer will not remain unaffected by it either, after all, his attitude towards it should motivate his fellow human beings to join his faith, which gives people the strength to endure everything God allows to come upon them. People lack this faith and consequently do not see a spiritual cause in their earthly adversity either, and consequently they do not remedy this adversity by changing their life, by living a way of life which is entirely in accordance with God's will. But they cannot be helped other than that suffering and affliction is their constant companion until they have detached themselves from earth and everything that concerns earth, until they think of their relationship with the creator of heaven and earth and try to improve this relationship of their own free will, only then will they become indifferent to earthly matter, death is before their eyes every day, and only then will they realize that their life must have a different meaning, and they try to fathom this meaning, they call themselves to account and seriously ask themselves whether and how they have fulfilled the divine commandments, for once they believe in a power before Whom they will have to answer one day they also acknowledge God's commandments, and this belief now comes alive in them, it impels them to inner changes and also to eager activity towards those who still think completely earthly and make no effort to change. But they will not always be successful. Where the desire for earthly possessions is too strong, the human being is distant from all spiritual thoughts, he is only interested in world events, he suffers unspeakably from them but only ever for worldly reasons, he never considers the hardship of those who are severely affected precisely because their souls are in great need. For divine love still wants to save them before it is too late, He still wants them to come to realization and therefore lets the earth go through external tribulation so that a few will still be saved whose hearts are not yet completely hardened....

Geistige Not.... Leid und Trübsal....

Noch erkennen die Menschen nicht, wohin sie treiben, denn ihre Gedanken sind zu sehr auf das irdische Geschehen gerichtet, als daß sie ihres geistigen Zustandes achteten. Sie bangen um ihr irdisches Leben und um den Verlust irdischer Güter. Ihr Seelenheil aber ist ihnen gleichgültig, weil sie ein solches in Abrede stellen und sich auch nicht belehren lassen. Und auch der göttliche Eingriff wird sie nicht anders denken lehren, denn auch diesen werden sie sich irdisch zu erklären suchen und niemals ihre Glaubenslosigkeit als indirekte Ursache gelten lassen. Und darum hat die Not auf Erden ein solches Ausmaß angenommen, es gibt keinen Menschen, der sie nicht zu spüren bekommt, und auch der Gläubige wird davon nicht unberührt bleiben, soll doch seine Einstellung dazu die Mitmenschen bewegen, sich seinem Glauben anzuschließen, der den Menschen Kraft gibt, alles zu ertragen, was Gott über ihn kommen läßt. Dieser Glaube mangelt den Menschen, und folglich sehen sie auch in der irdischen Not keine geistige Ursache, und folglich beheben sie diese Not nicht durch Änderung ihres Lebens, durch einen Lebenswandel, der ganz im Willen Gottes ist. Es kann ihnen aber nicht anders geholfen werden, als daß Leid und Trübsal ihr ständiger Begleiter ist, bis sie sich von der Erde und allem, was die Erde betrifft, gelöst haben, bis sie an ihr Verhältnis zu dem Schöpfer des Himmels und der Erde denken und aus freiem Willen dieses Verhältnis zu bessern suchen, dann erst wird ihnen die irdische Materie gleichgültig, der Tod steht ihnen täglich vor Augen, und nun erst erkennen sie, daß ihr Leben einen anderen Sinn haben muß, und sie suchen diesen Sinn zu ergründen, sie ziehen sich selbst zur Rechenschaft und fragen sich ernstlich, ob und wie sie die göttlichen Gebote erfüllt haben, denn sowie sie einmal glauben an eine Macht, vor Der sie sich dereinst verantworten müssen, erkennen sie auch die Gebote Gottes an, und es wird dieser Glaube nun in ihnen lebendig, er treibt sie an zu inneren Wandlungen und auch zu eifriger Betätigung an denen, die noch völlig irdisch denken und keine Anstalten machen, sich zu wandeln. Doch nicht immer werden sie Erfolg haben. Wo das Verlangen nach irdischen Gütern zu stark ist, dort steht der Mensch jedem geistigen Gedanken fern, ihn interessiert nur das Weltgeschehen, er leidet unsagbar unter diesem, doch immer nur aus weltlichen Gründen, niemals gedenkt er der Seelennot derer, die hart betroffen werden, eben weil ihre Seelen in großer Not sind. Denn die göttliche Liebe will sie noch erretten, bevor es zu spät ist, Er will, daß sie noch zur Erkenntnis kommen, und läßt daher die Erde durch äußere Trübsal gehen, auf daß noch einige wenige gerettet werden, deren Herzen noch nicht ganz verhärtet sind....
