Inner reflections and self-knowledge....

A person pays too little attention to his inner life, otherwise he would recognize himself and his shortcomings better and try to remedy them. The work on his soul only begins when he recognizes his inadequacy, when he consciously strives for perfection, when he tries to ennoble himself by recognizing his faults and weaknesses. And he only realizes these when he deepens his inner self, i.e. when he subjects his life, actions and thoughts to serious criticism.... If he is a child of the world, then he only pays attention to outward appearances, he only sees his physical constitution, but not that of the soul, and all his thinking and willing is only directed towards the body and its needs, because the world constantly approaches man with its demands, which he now eagerly fulfils. And his inner life fades completely into the background. He will think little or not at all about his behaviour towards his fellow human beings, his attitude towards God and how he will stand up to himself if he is called to account for his thoughts and actions. And therefore he will not work on himself. Conscious soul work also includes recognizing his own.... man must criticize himself relentlessly, he must not overlook any faults and weaknesses, he must have the firm will to develop himself progressively, he must not be satisfied with himself but must always and constantly strive for perfection. And in order to want all this, he must be convinced of his unworthiness, of his inadequacy, but this is only the result of inner introspection. A person is usually honest with himself as soon as he subjects himself to an examination. And this inner, uninfluenced thinking first brings about a clear judgement of oneself, and this is then followed by work on oneself, because no human being is without faults. The more a person withdraws in order to dialogue with himself, with his vices and desires, the sooner he declares war on them, because the inner voice warns and admonishes him, if only he has the will to let this inner voice resound within him. Then it will draw his attention to every fault, it will spur him on to conscious soul work, it will urge him again and again to introspection, and he will become humble because he recognizes himself and his weaknesses and gives up all arrogance. And through such introspection he will mature inwardly, he will learn to understand the weaknesses of his fellow human beings because he finds them in himself, and he will ask for strength for his transformation, which he recognizes as necessary and therefore tackles seriously. The inner reflections have a very great ennobling value, because only now does the person learn to recognize himself and consciously work on himself....

Reflexões internas e autoconhecimento....

O homem presta muito pouca atenção à sua vida interior, caso contrário reconheceria melhor a si mesmo e às suas falhas e tentaria remediá-las. O trabalho na sua alma só começa quando ele reconhece a sua inadequação, quando luta conscientemente pela perfeição, quando procura enobrecer-se no reconhecimento das suas falhas e fraquezas. E só as descobre quando se aprofunda interiormente, ou seja, quando submete a sua vida, as suas acções e pensamentos a críticas sérias..... Se ele é um filho do mundo, então ele só presta atenção ao exterior, ele só vê a sua constituição física, mas não a da alma, e todo o seu pensar e querer só se aplica ao corpo e às suas necessidades, pois o mundo se aproxima repetidamente do ser humano com as suas exigências, as quais ele agora avidamente cumpre. E a sua vida interior desvanece-se completamente para o fundo. Ele pensará pouco ou nada sobre como o seu comportamento é para com os seus semelhantes, como a sua atitude é para com Deus e como ele se colocará diante de si mesmo se for chamado a prestar contas pelos seus pensamentos e ações. E, portanto, ele não vai trabalhar em si mesmo. O trabalho consciente sobre a alma também inclui o reconhecimento de si mesmo.... O ser humano deve criticar-se incessantemente, não deve ignorar as falhas e fraquezas, deve ter a vontade firme de se desenvolver progressivamente, não deve estar satisfeito consigo mesmo, mas sempre e constantemente esforçar-se pela perfeição. E para querer tudo isso, ele deve estar convencido da sua indignidade, da sua inadequação, mas isso é apenas o resultado de um auto-exame interior. O homem é na sua maioria honesto consigo mesmo, assim que se submete a um exame. E este pensamento interior, não influenciado, só traz um julgamento claro sobre si mesmo, e isto é seguido de trabalho sobre si mesmo, pois nenhum ser humano está sem falhas. Quanto mais uma pessoa se retira para conversar consigo mesma, com seus vícios e desejos, mais cedo ela declara guerra a eles, porque a voz interior o adverte e admoesta, se ao menos tiver a vontade de deixar soar essa voz interior dentro dela. Então chamará a sua atenção para cada falha, incitá-lo-á a um trabalho consciente da alma, incitá-lo-á repetidamente a uma introspecção, e tornar-se-á humilde porque reconhece a si mesmo e as suas fraquezas e desiste de toda a arrogância. E através desse auto-exame ele amadurecerá interiormente, aprenderá a compreender as fraquezas dos seus semelhantes, porque as encontra em si mesmo, e pedirá forças para a sua transformação, que ele reconhece muito bem como necessária e, portanto, também enfrenta seriamente. As contemplações interiores têm um valor enobrecedor muito grande, porque o ser humano aprende agora a reconhecer-se a si mesmo e trabalha conscientemente sobre si mesmo._>Amém
