Partition.... spiritual battle.... temptations....

It is like a dividing wall that the good builds around itself when its desire is directed towards God. Evil tries to tear down this partition and uses unfair means to do so.... It fights in secret and often under the guise of goodness and piety. And then it is necessary to be doubly vigilant so that it is recognized as evil. Forces turned away from God remain close to the person striving towards God and perceive the slightest lukewarmness on his part to direct his thoughts towards things that lie beyond the divine. And now the human being only needs to be weak, then he will take in the thoughts which are whispered to him and his thinking will no longer exclusively move along a spiritual path. And then the human being has to fight with himself again in order to overcome those thoughts. Only then will his heart drive him more powerfully towards God, for the soul senses the apostasy as something burdensome and seeks to be free of it again. However, every spiritual battle manifests itself depending on the victor.... If the adversary has the upper hand, then the person will strive for external things and strive for earthly success.... He will interrupt his spiritual endeavours and thus pay tribute to the world.... But if the power of the spirit is active in him, earthly temptations cannot change his will.... He is inwardly calm and purposeful; he despises what approaches him and would like to cause him to think in an earthly way; he remains faithful to God and therefore there are no distractions for him, his will is always and constantly directed towards union with God.... And it means spiritual progress to have withstood the temptations and to have an increased desire for God. He has therefore erected the wall of partition that prevents evil from reaching him. He is immune to temptation and also recognizes the forces that seek to oppress him in the mask of goodness. For his feelings are mimosa-like.... he will always sense the impure and defend himself against it; but those who allow themselves to be taken captive by it are still impure themselves, in their hearts the desire for the world is still too great and what approaches them with beautiful words and expressions they do not realize as bad and wrong, and so the adversary has an easy game. But if a person is vigilant and asks God for help, his eyes will be sharpened and he will act in accordance with God's will. It remains a constant battle for him, only less noticeable, as his desire for God applies.... Yet the battle is permitted by God so that the human being himself will test his strength in it, so that he will ask God for the strength he lacks and thus take refuge in Him.... And thus his attitude towards God will always be decisive as to who remains victorious, the good or the evil....

Scheidewand.... Geistiger Kampf.... Versuchungen....

Es ist wie eine Scheidewand, die das Gute um sich aufbaut, so sein Verlangen zu Gott gerichtet ist. Das Böse sucht diese Scheidewand zwar niederzureißen und bedienet sich dazu unlauterer Mittel.... Es kämpft im Verborgenen und oft unter dem Deckmantel der Güte und Frömmigkeit. Und dann gilt es doppelt wachsam zu sein, auf daß es erkannt wird als böse. Gott abgewandte Kräfte bleiben in der Nähe des zu Gott strebenden Menschen und nehmen die geringste Lauheit dessen wahr, sein Denken auf Dinge zu lenken, die abseits des Göttlichen liegen. Und nun braucht der Mensch nur schwach zu sein, dann nimmt er die Gedanken auf, die ihm zugeflüstert werden, und sein Denken bewegt sich nicht mehr ausschließlich auf geistiger Bahn. Und dann muß der Mensch wieder im Kampf liegen mit sich selbst, daß er jene Gedanken überwindet. Dann erst treibt ihn sein Herz mächtiger zu Gott, denn es spürt die Seele den Abfall als etwas Belastendes und sucht davon wieder frei zu werden. Jeder geistige Kampf aber äußert sich je nach dem Sieger.... Hat der Widersacher die Übermacht, dann wird der Mensch nach äußeren Dingen trachten und sich einsetzen für irdischen Erfolg.... Er wird das geistige Streben unterbrechen und also der Welt den Tribut zollen.... Ist aber die Kraft des Geistes in ihm wirksam, so können ihn die irdischen Versuchungen nicht ändern in seinem Willen.... Er ist innerlich ruhig und zielbewußt; er verachtet, was an ihn herantritt und ihn zu irdischem Denken veranlassen möchte; er hält Gott die Treue, und also gibt es für ihn keine Ablenkungen, sein Wille gilt stets und ständig der Vereinigung mit Gott.... Und es bedeutet geistigen Fortschritt, den Versuchungen standgehalten zu haben und in vermehrtem Verlangen nach Gott zu stehen. Dieser also hat sich die Scheidewand errichtet, die das Böse abhält, zu ihm zu gelangen. Er ist gefeit gegen die Versuchungen und erkennt auch die Kräfte, die in der Maske des Guten ihn zu bedrängen suchen. Denn mimosenhaft ist sein Empfinden.... er wird stets das Unreine spüren und sich dagegen wehren; die aber sich gefangennehmen lassen davon, sind selbst noch unrein, in ihren Herzen ist die Begierde nach der Welt noch zu groß und was sich ihnen naht mit schönen Worten und Mienen, das wird ihnen nicht als schlecht und falsch bewußt, und so hat der Widersacher leichtes Spiel. Doch so der Mensch wachsam ist und Gott um Beistand bittet, wird sein Blick geschärft, und er wird handeln dem göttlichen Willen gemäß. Es bleibt für ihn ein ständiger Kampf, nur weniger spürbar, so sein Verlangen Gott gilt.... Doch es ist der Kampf von Gott zugelassen, auf daß der Mensch selbst seine Kraft daran erprobe, auf daß er die ihm fehlende Kraft von Gott erbittet, also zu Ihm seine Zuflucht nimmt.... Und so wird immer seine Stellungnahme zu Gott entscheidend sein, wer Sieger bleibt, das Gute oder das Böse....
