Lauheit.... weakness of will.... slackness in prayer....

The more lukewarm a person is, the stronger the influence he has to fear from the adversary. He then neither offers resistance nor strives for God's strength and is therefore in the greatest danger of becoming weak and succumbing. He should always bear in mind that the ascent to the heights is arduous and that a slackening of his willpower very easily results in a step backwards, which requires renewed effort in order to catch up. The adversary is vigilant, i.e. he does not miss a single moment of a person's weakness, but the latter should also be vigilant so that he does not expose his soul to the danger of being oppressed by the adversary. And the weaker he feels, the more fervently he should pray for strength. But even if he begins to become lukewarm in prayer, the adversary's power over him is great. And yet he cannot be spared the struggle against this power. Spiritual beings certainly stand by him, but their help has to be requested because they cannot become active without the call. And in hours of weakness of will the human being often omits this call as well, and then he is defencelessly at the mercy of the adversary's power. And he has to fight the battle against him himself, which is often very difficult. And it is always the weakening of prayer that causes his willpower to weaken. The more often and more intimately a person unites himself with God, the less he is exposed to the influences of the enemy, because both at the same time, the power from God and the power of the adversary, cannot be effective. But the power from God is always stronger and excludes every activity of evil forces. In hours of need, of lukewarmness and weakness of will, a heartfelt call for the support of good beings suffices and the work of those beings will already be stopped. Only the will to do good must still be present in the human being, and soon the fervour of prayer will also increase again and the human being will have escaped the danger....

영적인 미지근함. 연약한 의지. 약해진 기도.

우유부단한 사람일수록 대적자의 더욱 강력한 영향력을 두려워해야만 한다. 이런 사람은 애써 저항하지 않고, 하나님의 능력을 구하지 않아, 연약해지거나 대적자에 패배할 위험에 있다. 영적으로 높은 곳으로 성장하는 일에 아주 많은 수고가 들고, 의지가 연약해지면, 아주 쉽게 퇴보해서, 회복하려면, 다시 많은 노력을 해야 함을 명심해야 한다.

대적자는 깨어 있어, 사람이 연약해 있는 순간을 결코 놓치지 않는다. 그러므로 사람은 깨어 있어, 그의 혼이 대적자의 공격을 받는 위험에 처하게 해서는 안 된다. 연약하다고 느낄수록, 더욱 열정적으로 기도하며 능력을 구해야 한다.

그가 기도하는 일을 미지근하게 하기 시작할 때, 원수의 세력이 너희를 능가한다. 그리고 이 세력에 대항하는 싸움을 피할 수 없다. 실제 영의 존재가 너희의 옆에 같이 있지만, 먼저 그의 도움을 청해야만 한다. 왜냐하면 영의 존재는 도움을 청함 받지 않으면, 역사할 수 없기 때문이다. 사람이 의지가 약해지는 때에, 사람은 자주 도움을 청하지 않는다. 결과적으로 그는 보호받지 못하고 원수의 손에 놓이게 된다. 그러면 그는 아주 힘이 센 원수와 대항해서 어려운 싸움을 스스로 해야만 한다. 너희의 의지의 힘을 항상 마비시키는 일은 다름아닌 기도가 약해지는 일이다.

사람이 얼마나 자주 그리고 열정적으로 하나님과 교제하느냐에 따라 그는 원수의 영향을 적게 받는다. 왜냐하면 하나님으로부터 나오는 능력과 원수의 힘이 우리에게 동시에 미칠 수 없기 때문이다. 그러나 항상 하나님의 능력이 우세하면, 어떤 악한 세력의 역사도 사라진다.

위험한 순간에, 우유부단한 순간에, 연약한 의지의 순간에 선한 존재에게 진심으로 도움을 청하는 일로 충분하다. 그리하면 원수의 세력은 물러날 것이다. 선을 향한 의지가 사람 안에 있어야만 된다. 그러면 곧 긴밀한 기도가 다시 증가하고, 사람은 위험에서 벗어난다.
