Spiritual explanation for the eruptions .... Service in the light ....

In order to make the spiritual substance feel its banishment, it must become aware of both its own state of restraint as well as the freedom of will. It must experience the first as pain and regard the other as worth striving for, then it will always participate to release itself from the first state in order to attain freedom of will. So the beings of light must transmit the latter to works of creation whose spiritual substance still lingers in darkness. These must find the ray of light agreeable and constantly desire more. Hence, it must want to ascend to where there is an abundance of light. However, every emanation of light is the result of helpful activity, that is, in some form or other the activity of being of service must come first before emanations of light can happen on a regular basis. Although every external form is exposed to the emanation of light, yet the entirely hardened spirit turns away from it and takes an infinitely long time before it opens itself to the light, i.e., until it allows itself to be affected by it. But then the desire for it will burst through with elementary power. Then everything that previously was down below will push towards the surface and strive for light, and the spiritual substance desiring it will be released from its long captivity through eruptions and will continue its process of development in a different external form. And such a powerful eruption is approaching the Earth, whose bound spiritual beings long for liberation, for light and helpful activity. And the spiritual substance languishing down below in darkness especially strives upwards when the spiritual beings on earth fail to make use of the abundance of light it receives and effectively ignores it. Then the immature spiritual substances will seek to acquire this abundance of light and strive for it with elementary power, which manifests itself through natural disasters and creates fundamental changes with regards to spiritual currents. For then the spiritual substance, having reached the earth’s surface, will detect every spiritual current to a large extent and will therefore withdraw spiritual strength from already higher developed beings which disregard this strength and make no use of it, which often signifies these beings’ physical death on earth .... The immature spiritual substance avails itself of spiritual strength by considerably changing its external form, that is, by having provided access for the light. From then on this spiritual substance can continue its process of development on earth, thus freely strive towards the light, it only must use the strength at its disposal through helpful activity. However, once the longing for light has awakened in the spiritual substance, it will no longer resist being of service in some way or other, for it experiences this activity as a means of receiving more light and at the same time feels the loosening chain of its external form, and although the process of development now corresponds to the law of compulsion the being is nevertheless willing to take it, its own will, albeit inhibited, concurs with divine will.

Geestelijke verklaring van erupties – Dienen in het licht

Om het geestelijke zijn geboeid zijn te laten voelen, moet hem zowel de eigen gedwongen toestand als ook de vrijheid van de wil duidelijk zichtbaar gemaakt worden. Het geestelijke moet het ene als een kwelling ervaren en het andere als nastrevenswaardig beschouwen. Pas dan zal hij het zijne doen om vrij te komen uit de eerste toestand en tot vrijheid van de wil te komen.

Dus moeten de wezens van het licht dit laatste uitstralen op scheppingswerken, van wie de geest nog in volledige duisternis smacht. Deze moeten de lichtstraal als aangenaam ervaren en er nu voortaan naar verlangen. Het moet dus naar de hoogte verlangen, waar er licht in overvloed is. Maar elke lichtuitstraling is het gevolg van een dienende werkzaamheid, dus het op één of andere manier dienen moet voorafgaan, voordat een echte lichtuitstraling plaats kan vinden.

Weliswaar is elke uiterlijke vorm aan lichtuitstraling blootgesteld, maar het geheel verharde geestelijke wendt zich hiervan af en heeft een eindeloos lange tijd nodig voordat het zich voor het licht opent, dat wil zeggen dit op zich in laat werken. Maar dan breekt het verlangen ernaar met oerkracht door. Dan dringt alles, wat voordien in de diepte was, naar de oppervlakte en streeft naar het licht en dan wordt al het verlangende geestelijke door erupties uit zijn lange gevangenschap bevrijd en gaat het in een veranderde uiterlijke vorm verder met zijn ontwikkelingsgang. En de aarde, wiens geboeide geestelijke wezens naar bevrijding verlangen, naar licht en dienende werkzaamheid, staat nu ook voor zo’n geweldige eruptie.

En juist dan dringt het in de diepte en de duisternis smachtend geestelijke naar de hoogte, wanneer het geestelijke op aarde de hun toestromende overvloed aan licht niet benut en er in zekere zin geen acht op geslagen wordt. Dan probeert het nog niet ontwikkeld geestelijke zich deze overvloed aan licht toe te eigenen en het streeft er met oerkracht naar, wat door natuurrampen tot uitdrukking komt en radicale veranderingen veroorzaakt met betrekking tot geestelijke stromingen. Want het zich op het aardoppervlak richtend geestelijke neemt nu in sterke mate elke geestelijke stroming waar en onttrekt daarom geestelijke kracht aan de al opwaarts ontwikkelde wezens, die op deze kracht geen acht slaan en onbenut laat, wat vaak het lichamelijke einde van deze wezens op aarde betekent.

Het nog niet ontwikkeld geestelijke gebruikt nu geestelijke kracht, doordat het nu zijn uiterlijke vorm aanzienlijk verandert, dat wil zeggen deze het licht toegang verschaft heeft. En nu kan dit geestelijke zijn ontwikkelingsgang op aarde afleggen en dus naar het licht streven. Het moet enkel de hem ten dienste staande kracht benutten door dienende werkzaamheid.

Maar als het verlangen naar licht eerst eenmaal in het geestelijke ontwaakt is, dan verzet het zich ook niet meer om op één of andere manier te dienen, want het ervaart deze activiteit als middel tot een grotere lichtontvangst en het wordt tegelijkertijd de daardoor losser gemaakte boeien van zijn uiterlijke vorm gewaar en ofschoon de ontwikkelingsgang zich nu via bindend opgelegde wetten afspeelt, is het wezen toch ook zelf bereid om deze gang te gaan, want zijn eigen wil, ofschoon die niet vrij is, stemt met de goddelijke wil overeen.
