Spiritual distress.... sense of responsibility.... harsh reminders....

How irresponsible people act towards their souls when they close themselves off to the right realization and reject all help sent to them. Every admonition and warning is in vain, they attach too little importance to their lives and also have no sense of responsibility. And yet God, in His longsuffering and patience, repeatedly endeavours to educate them to think correctly, but they do not recognize this. And the more stubbornly they close themselves to His word, the thicker the soul's covering becomes, and it takes very strong shocks for this covering to burst and the soul to become free. The spiritual distress is far greater than the individual person is able to recognize. Only rarely is a believer present where several are gathered, and this believer is ridiculed where he should be heard.... Only rarely does the divine word penetrate people's hearts, for the world wants to hear something else, it wants to be entertained in a worldly way, it wants to be distracted and enjoy earthly speeches, it does not want any teachings or references to the death of the body; it only wants to live, i.e. to utilize and enjoy earthly life. And the divine words are an obstacle to this, they inhibit the urge for earthly life, they inhibit the ecstasy of joy and curtail earthly enjoyment. The more limited people are, the more difficult it is to explain the divine activity to them, for then they have no understanding for spiritual experiences, and they now try to compensate for the lack of understanding with an increased desire for the world, for they perceive what is incomprehensible to them only as pressure and burden and want to escape this by paying homage to the world all the more. And without the will to recognize the truth it cannot be offered to them, and if it is offered to them then they do not understand it because they do not have the will to do so and the desire for God is only weakly developed in them. And therefore God must send them other admonishers who will silence all desire for worldly pleasures in them. He has to touch them harder because they do not pay attention to light touches, because they do not sense God's closeness when He makes Himself known to them. And so an ever harder lot will be imposed on humanity and it will have to languish under the pressure and find no compensation in the world and its supposed pleasures. Life will be so hard to bear that true comfort will only be found with God.... in His word, which promises His love and mercy to everyone who turns to Him and surrenders the world....

영적인 위험. 책임감. 심각한 경고.

사람들이 올바른 깨달음에 자신을 닫고, 그들에게 주어지는 모든 도움을 거부한다면, 그들이 얼마나 그들의 혼에 대해 무책임한 행동을 하는 것인가! 모든 경고와 권면은 헛되고, 그들은 그들의 삶에 아주 적은 의미를 두고, 아무런 책임감이 없다. 그러나 하나님이 자신의 인내와 끈기로 항상 또 다시 그들이 올바른 생각을 갖도록 양육하기 위해 노력한다. 그러나 그들은 이런 노력을 깨닫지 못한다. 그들이 더욱 더 강팍하게 하나님의 말씀에 자신을 닫을수록, 혼의 겉 형체는 더욱 더 두꺼워진다. 이런 겉 형체를 부수고, 혼을 자유롭게 만들기 위해, 아주 강하게 흔드는 일이 필요하다.

각각의 사람들이 깨달을 수 있는 것 보다 영적인 위험이 훨씬 더 크다. 많은 사람이 모인다면, 단지 희귀하게 믿는 사람들이 이 가운데 있다. 사람들은 믿는 사람들의 말을 들어야 할 곳에서 믿는 사람을 조롱한다. 하나님 말씀이 단지 희귀하게 심장 안으로 들어간다. 왜냐하면 세상은 어떤 다른 것을 듣기를 원하기 때문이다. 세상은 세상적으로 즐겁기를 원한다. 세상은 산만하게 하고, 세상적인 대화를 기뻐한다. 세상은 육신의 죽음에 대한 가르침과 이를 알려주는 일을 원하지 않는다. 세상은 단지 살기만을 원한다. 다시 말해 이 땅의 삶을 최대한 활용하고, 즐기기 만을 원한다.

이를 위해 하나님의 말씀은 장애물이다. 말씀은 세상적인 삶을 향한 갈망에 제한을 가한다. 말씀은 기쁨에 도취되는 일을 제한하고, 세상적인 즐거움을 막는다. 사람들이 제한을 더 많이 받을수록, 그들에게 하나님의 역사를 설명하는 일이 더욱 힘이 든다. 왜냐하면 그들은 영적인 체험에 대한 어떠한 이해도 할 수 없기 때문이다. 그들은 이제 부족한 깨달음을 세상을 향한 더 높은 갈망으로 상쇠 시키려고 한다. 왜냐하면 그들은 그들의 부족한 깨달음을 부담과 짐으로 느끼기 때문에, 이제 먼저 세상에 제대로 머리를 숙이면서 이를 해결하려고 하기 때문이다. 진리를 깨달으려는 의지가 없는 그들에게 진리를 제공해줄 수 없다. 그들에게 진리를 제공한다면, 그들은 진리를 이해하지 못할 것이다. 왜냐하면 그들에게 이해하려는 의지가 없고, 그들 안의 하나님을 향한 갈망이 아주 약하게 발전되었기 때문이다.

그러므로 하나님은 세상적인 즐거움을 향한 모든 갈망이 그들 안에서 사라지게 만들, 다른 경고자를 그들에게 보내줘야 한다. 하나님은 그들을 심하게 다뤄야만 한다. 왜냐하면 그들이 부드러운 접촉에 주의를 기울이지 않기 때문이다. 하나님이 자신을 그들에게 알린다면, 그들이 하나님의 가까이함을 느끼지 못하기 때문이다. 그러므로 인류에게 항상 더욱 심한 운명이 주어진다. 인류는 이러한 압력 아래 고통을 당해야만 하고, 세상과 세상이 제공한다는 기쁨에 대한 어떠한 보상을 받지 못해야만 한다. 삶이 아주 견디기 어렵게 되어, 하나님이 자기 자신에게 향하고 세상을 버리는 모든 사람에게 약속해 준 그의 말씀 안에서, 그의 사랑과 긍휼 안에서 단지 진정한 위로를 찾게 될 것이다.
