Bedeutsamkeit des Herstellens der Verbindung mit Gott noch auf Erden....

Dem Willen des Menschen ist es anheimgestellt, die Verbindung mit Gott herzustellen oder nicht. Jedoch ist es ausschlaggebend für die ganze Ewigkeit, ob er seinen Willen in der rechten Weise tätig werden läßt, nämlich zum Zusammenschluß mit Gott.... Er muß das Zugeständnis der eigenen Schwäche und Hilflosigkeit Gott gegenüber zum Ausdruck bringen durch einen bewußten Anruf Gottes, durch Gebet, das auch nur in Gedanken zu Ihm emporgesandt werden kann, Der allein stark und mächtig ist. Es muß der Mensch anerkennen, daß Gott der Herr ist über Himmel und Erde, und das Anerkennen hat dann auch das Unterwerfen unter Seinen Willen zur Folge, was Zweck und Ziel des Erdenlebens ist. Denn es ist das Wesen dann erst mächtig, so es sich nicht mehr außerhalb der Kraft Gottes stellt, sondern im gleichen Willen mit Gott wirkt aus Seiner Kraft, weil die Kraft aus Gott ihm dann erst zuströmen kann, wenn es seinen einstmaligen Widerstand aufgegeben hat gegen Gott, also keinen anderen Willen mehr zum Ausdruck bringt als den Willen Gottes. Das Aufgeben des Widerstandes bedeutet also vermehrte Kraft.... eine Umwandlung der eigenen Kraftlosigkeit in zuströmende Kraftfülle.... In diesen Zustand versetzt sich der Mensch durch das Gebet, durch den Anruf Gottes, der Eingeständnis seiner Kraftlosigkeit und Schwäche ist.... Dieser Moment ist der eigentliche Wendepunkt seines Lebens, wo er sich bewußt Gott zuwendet. Und dieser Moment muß unbedingt eintreten im Erdenleben, soll sein Schicksal für die Ewigkeit günstig entschieden werden. Denn es ist der Zustand der Erkenntnis, die zwar erst mit diesem Moment ihren Anfang nimmt, also noch von kleinstem Umfang ist, aber unweigerlich zu vergrößertem Wissen führt, weil der Bann gebrochen ist, der die Nacht des Geistes hervorgerufen hat. Hat der Mensch erst einmal im Gebet Gott angerufen, hat er sich also der machtvollen Gottheit zugewandt, so schreitet nun seine Höherentwicklung vorwärts, weil die Kraft aus Gott ihn unterstützt. Solange er aber diese Bindung nicht herzustellen versucht, solange er sich selbst als stark oder unabhängig von stärkerer Macht wähnt, ist sein Zustand kraftlos und sein Geist dunkel. Geht er in einem solchen Zustand in die Ewigkeit ein, so ist sein Ringen dort um die Erkenntnis unglaublich schwer, d.h., er strebt nicht danach, weil es für ihn nichts gibt, was ihm erstrebenswert erscheint. Und dieser Zustand ist furchtbar, weil er Ewigkeiten hindurch bestehen kann und im Jenseits die Gelegenheit einer bewußten Zuwendung zu Gott noch viel weniger erkannt und genützt wird als auf Erden. Im Erdenleben treibt die Not und das Leid oft den Menschen dazu, Hilfe zu erbitten, weil die Lebenskraft in ihm tätig wird und ihn antreibt, irgendwelche Änderung seines Zustandes anzustreben. Im Jenseits dagegen ist die Seele völlig apathisch, sowie sie kraftlos ist, daß sie nichts unternimmt zur eigenen Erlösung, daß sie also untätig verharrt, ihr Wille aber auch im Jenseits nicht gezwungen wird. Hat der Mensch im Erdenleben noch kurz vor seinem Tode die ewige Gottheit angerufen, so bleibt ihm die Erkenntnis Derer auch im Jenseits, er denkt und folgert weiter, er knüpft dort an, wo er im Erdenleben aufgehört hat, denn sowie einmal der Glaube an einen machtvollen Gott in ihm erwacht ist, läßt er diesen nimmer fallen, sondern er wendet sich in jeder geistigen Not Ihm zu, er erkennt selbst seinen mangelhaften Zustand, und er weiß auch, daß er das Erdenleben nicht voll ausgenützt hat. Er ist durch den Anruf Gottes schon Kraftempfänger geworden, und seine Seele empfindet diesen Kraftstrom als vermehrtes Verlangen nach Gott, selbst wenn sie Seiner Nähe noch nicht würdig ist. Denn dies ist die Äußerung der göttlichen Kraft, daß sie unweigerlich Ihm entgegenführt, von Dem sie ausgegangen ist, daß also der aus Gott fließende Kraftstrom nach dort zurückverlangt und die Seele gleichfalls zu Ihm hindrängt.... Und dieses Verlangen nach Gott ist auch die sicherste Gewähr für die geistige Höherentwicklung im Jenseits.... Auf Erden fällt der Mensch oft noch in das alte Leben, in das alte Denken zurück, sowie er aus der großen Not, die ihn zum Gebet veranlaßt hat, heraus ist. Im Jenseits aber bleibt das Verlangen nach der Hilfe Gottes, weil die Seele ihre Kraftlosigkeit empfindet.... Nicht immer ist ihr die Hilfe zuteil geworden auf Erden, die sie im Gebet angefordert hat und doch hat die Seele die Liebe Gottes empfunden beim Ableben und nach dieser Liebe trägt sie nun ständig Verlangen, selbst wenn sie nicht den Reifegrad erlangt hat, um die Seligkeit der Anschauung Gottes im geistigen Reich genießen zu können. Es ist durch den bewußten Anruf Gottes der Bann gebrochen worden, und es setzt nun im Jenseits sofort das geistige Streben ein, d.h., sowie die Seele zur Erkenntnis gelangt ist, wird ihr Wille tätig, und das Verlangen nach Gott regt sie zum Liebeswirken an.... während die Seelen, denen die erste Erkenntnis mangelt, oft endlose Zeiten in völliger Willenlosigkeit verharren und dies auch ein Zustand der Kraftlosigkeit ist, ein Zustand der Qualen und Verzweiflung und Abkehr von den Lichtwesen, die ihnen helfen wollen. Ersteren können die Lichtwesen gleichfalls helfend beistehen, und ihren Vorstellungen werden sich die Seelen nicht verschließen und also fortschreiten in ihrer Entwicklung. Je inniger der Mensch nun auf Erden die Verbindung mit Gott hergestellt hat im Gebet, desto mehr hat er sich gelöst von der Gegenmacht und desto weniger ist die Seele im Jenseits den Anfeindungen dieser ausgesetzt. Denn Gott läßt die Seele nicht fallen, die einmal zu Ihm geflüchtet ist in ihrer Not und Bedrängnis, und ein von Herzen kommender Hilferuf wird ihr stets auch geistigen Erfolg eintragen, selbst wenn Gott in Seiner Weisheit und Liebe die irdische Bitte nicht erfüllt und das Leben des Menschen beendet. Er weiß um die Willensschwäche der Menschen, und so weiß Er wahrlich am besten, was der Seele dient. Und immer wird Er ihr die größt-möglichsten Entwicklungsgelegenheiten geben, sowohl auf Erden als auch im Jenseits. Doch nichts ist so nötig und bedeutsam wie das Erkennen der ewigen Gottheit noch im Erdenleben.... wie die bewußte Fühlungnahme mit Gott im Gebet.... Denn dann erkennt der Mensch über sich ein macht- und kraftvolles Wesen an und bekennt seine Schwäche und Hilflosigkeit.... Und dann erfasset ihn Gott und hilft ihm unweigerlich zur Höhe....

Importance of establishing a connection with God while still on earth....

It is left to the will of man to establish the union with God or not. However, it is decisive for the whole of eternity whether he allows his will to become active in the right way, namely towards union with God.... He must express the admission of his own weakness and helplessness towards God through a conscious call to God, through prayer, which can also only be sent up in thought to Him, Who alone is strong and mighty. The human being has to acknowledge that God is lord over heaven and earth, and this acknowledgement then also results in submission to His will, which is the purpose and goal of earthly life. For the being is only then powerful when it no longer places itself outside of God's power but works in the same will with God out of His power, because the power from God can only then flow towards it when it has given up its former resistance against God, thus no longer expresses any other will than God's will. Giving up resistance therefore means increased strength.... a transformation of one's own powerlessness into an inflowing abundance of strength.... A person enters this state through prayer, through the call of God, which is an admission of his powerlessness and weakness.... This moment is the actual turning point in his life, when he consciously turns to God. And this moment must absolutely occur in earthly life if his fate is to be decided favourably for eternity. For it is the state of realization which, although it only begins at this moment and is therefore still of the smallest extent, inevitably leads to increased knowledge because the spell which caused the night of the spirit has been broken. Once a person has called upon God in prayer, i.e. once he has turned to the powerful deity, his higher development will progress because the strength from God will support him. However, as long as he does not try to establish this bond, as long as he believes himself to be strong or independent of a stronger power, his state is powerless and his spirit is dark. If he enters eternity in such a state, his struggle for realization there is incredibly difficult, i.e. he does not strive for it because there is nothing for him that seems worth striving for. And this state is dreadful because it can last for eternities and in the beyond the opportunity to consciously turn to God is even less recognized and utilized than on earth. In earthly life the hardship and suffering often drives the human being to ask for help because the life force becomes active in him and drives him to strive for any change of his state. In the beyond, however, the soul is completely apathetic as soon as it is powerless, that it does nothing for its own redemption, that it therefore remains inactive, but its will is not forced in the beyond either. If the human being called upon the eternal deity in earthly life shortly before his death, then the knowledge of Him will remain with him in the beyond, he will continue to think and reason, he will pick up where he left off in earthly life, for once faith in a powerful God has awakened in him he will never let go of it but will turn to Him in every spiritual adversity, he will recognize his own imperfect state and he will also know that he has not made full use of earthly life. Through God's call he has already become a recipient of strength and his soul experiences this flow of strength as an increased desire for God, even if it is not yet worthy of His presence. For this is the manifestation of divine strength, that it inevitably leads towards Him from Whom it originated, that the stream of strength flowing from God thus longs to return there and likewise urges the soul towards Him.... And this longing for God is also the surest guarantee for spiritual higher development in the beyond.... On earth the human being often still falls back into the old life, into the old thinking, as soon as he has come out of the great adversity that caused him to pray. In the beyond, however, the longing for God's help remains because the soul feels its lack of strength.... This help it requested in prayer was not always granted to it on earth and yet the soul felt God's love when it passed away and now it constantly longs for this love, even if it has not attained the degree of maturity to be able to enjoy the bliss of beholding God in the spiritual kingdom. The spell has been broken by God's conscious call and spiritual striving immediately sets in in the beyond, that is, as soon as the soul has attained realization its will becomes active and the desire for God stimulates it into loving activity.... whereas souls which lack the first realization often remain in complete lack of will for endless times and this is also a state of weakness, a state of torment and despair and turning away from the beings of light which want to help them. The beings of light can likewise help the former and the souls will not close themselves to their ideas and thus progress in their development. The more intimately a person has established a connection with God in prayer on earth, the more he has detached himself from the opposing power and the less the soul is exposed to its hostilities in the beyond. For God will not abandon the soul which has once fled to Him in its distress and affliction, and a heartfelt cry for help will always bring it spiritual success, even if God, in His wisdom and love, does not fulfil the earthly request and ends the human being's life. He knows about people's weakness of will and so He truly knows best what serves the soul. And He will always give it the greatest possible opportunities for development, both on earth and in the beyond. Yet nothing is as necessary and significant as recognizing the eternal deity while still on earth.... as consciously contacting God in prayer.... For then the human being recognizes a powerful and mighty being above him and confesses his weakness and helplessness.... And then God takes hold of him and inevitably helps him to ascend....
